a country is effectively a business we need to make money to improve services due to decades of mismanagement the nation debt is over 3 trillion, it current rights by over £5,700.00 per second. one cost we could put if the life long salary the pm gets after they get replace this is £115,000.00 a year for Jon Major, Tony Blair, Gordan Brown, David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, and soon to be Sunak. also when MPs Stand down or get replaced they get full pay for a further 3 years. Did i mention that our contribution to there pension is over 30% a year, solving this one thing is a minute in the grand scheme but just think how much more waste there is in our government.

@@garymiller7218not guaranteed. 1. You could fail and will have to pay every time you take it (but that's not the common scenario⬇️) 2. You can pass an exam but there are limited specialty job posts so it's very common for Drs to pass exams but not progress. One thing I've noticed regarding the media and public perception of Dr progression is you all paint it as being guaranteed year on year. It's not. The only thing that's guaranteed is foundation training (2 years post medical school). After that you pick a specialty to train in. Every single speciality has a competition ratio above 1 and it's increased drastically over the past decade. I'd say the average is about 4 to 1. Also important to note that the majority of speciality programs have multiple exams throughout to progress of which, again, there will be more people who pass than posts available. So when the topic of pay comes up, media/public assumes that all Drs will earn a consultant wage which is impossible as not every doctor can become a consultant. I'd argue limited specialty posts is a bigger issue than pay. When asked why this isn't done, NHS England says there's no money yet there has been dramatic funding to train and hire physician associates who are objectively, not comprehensively trained as a Dr, have less responsibility, require supervision from Drs yet out earn them early on in their careers. The physician associate is the only job in the NHS that doesn't do something that can't be done by a Dr. Nurses, physios, occupational therapists, paramedics, social services etc. There is some overlap in knowledge for sure but no one can straight swap to one of those new roles. Physician associate is the only role that doesn't do anything unique so the question is why fund them and not use the money to create more specialty posts for Drs? I'll leave with this: This year, there were 1000 GP jobs for 4000 qualified GPs. So that means there are 3000 GPs without a GP post. At the same time, NHS England has offered to reimburse the costs of hospitals and GPs to employ physician associates. So when the media/politicians say there aren't enough Drs, remember there are many Drs who are stuck at a level due to bottlenecks.

The NHS keeps spending money to train doctors who will then leave the country and complain they are not paid well. A fully qualified consultant costs the NHS about £400k to train and then they leave to Australia and the Middle East to earn a lot of money.

@@uzoma112 Another trope you seem to not know much about. The number of Drs that leave the NHS is minor and that amount has barely increased and the majority of that minority are not consultants. You highlight the cost to train a consultant as a criticism if they leave. You don't seem to consider that a) they take out student loans which they pay back with interest b) pay high rates of taxes. Seeing as how it takes 10-15 years MINIMUM to become a consultant, if once they hit 40s and 50s they choose to want to work in another country, why shouldn't they? Have their taxes not paid to train the next generation of drs? Or the interest on the student loan they've paid back?

How’s he reducing income? It’s called repurposing funds as the government does all the time. Whether you spend on railways or the nhs, compared to something else. Everything that’s spent comes back to the government as a percentage. If they pay for staff wages it’s employers NI, tax, pension contribution, VAT on purchases. Then the staff get to spend the money and pay again. It never ends, it’s recirculating money which you may realise is an economy.

Farage has also been constantly telling everyone that the UK healthcare system costs the same as the French system but with worse results. He uses this to justify privatising further to an insurance based mixed system. He conveniently forgets to tell everyone when adjusting both the NHS and French system for PPP we spend 20% LESS on healthcare. In real terms a £60bn black hole in farages numbers.

Farage deserves no special debates. He's never off TV compared to more successful parties, 37 BBC premier political programme QT, including the other day, despite 7 failed attempts for parliament, the last beaten by a man in a dolphin suit. Only one pollster put Reform on 19% others are around 13%. They won just 2 council seats & their predecessor parties won just 2 seats ever in parliament, sitting Tory MP incumbents. He's not normal. He went to private schools, Dulwich college and worked as a commodities broker in the city of London. IN the EU Parliament in 20 years he did no representative work and rarely voted or debated but took the money and misspent funds.

@@The1Green4Man The hotels are for asylum seekers waiting to be processed. If they were full of illegals then it'd be super easy to deport them, the problem is that illegal immigrants tend not to let the authorities know they are in the country and certainly don't stay in government funded accommodation. As for why they are in hotels? They have not been processed, the government has failed to keep up and lost control over the situation. So just like everything else that is broken about Britain today you should blame the Tories and not the victims they tell you to blame.

@@wft15 Except this has never been proven or recorded to have happened. As to what ti would achieve, it is most likely to result in a failed application for asylum. Also, there are checks in place to ensure people really are from where they claim and it only takes a translator who can speak the national language from their claimed origin country 99% of the time. Other than this and all the other evidence that proves your claims wrong, you are correct.

Just adds changes (make more complicated) to the tax system, requirement to pay IT contractors (like Fujitsu...) to modify HMRC systems, requirements to pay more HMRC staff to sort out returns. If people are underpaid for the job they do for society the answer is simple: pay them more.

A vote for reform is a vote for an even more cruel Tory!

Why would you want the most venal people in society to run anything? We've seen how that ends up with the current regime.

Completely wasted interview giving these gaslighters so much airtime. You had two tasks to achieve: grill him on the devastating failure of Brexit and ask why one should ever trust people who caused an even bigger catastrophe than Liz Truss, and secondly grill him more on their pigs-will-fly promises like NHS 0 waiting lists and net 0 migration etcetera which are all to be achieved by a group of new MPs with no administrative experience and an understanding of basic accounting and finance that would make Kwasi Kwarteng look like a Nobel Prize candidate for Economic theory on how to crash an economy!

Brexit is a process to be achieved, not just something that once it is put in place it runs itself, which is why I said to ask Sunak. Your comment is based on nothing, especially when their 'contract' has been costed by others and it all tallies up to what they say.

Reform policies don't have to withstand scrutiny; they are designed to attract Brexiteers.

I'm assuming there are a lot of assumptions on their costings here. They are in a position to offer the world on a plate when they will never have to do it. That's why Labour are being more cautious.

What has happened to the reporting class in this country. Such sub standard questions.

The official opposition has to have the second most number of MP’s, not the second most number of votes! The fight to be the official opposition is between the Tories and the Lib Dems.

Former NHS staff wont necessarily come back to work for the NHS just because they wouldnt pay tax. ben habib saying we need to stop immigration is a bit rich coming from someone who was an immigrant himself from Pakistan.

Remember photo ID for July 4th. You can find out what forms of ID are accepted at the electoral commission website.

So ditching net zero eill resolve all the NHS,s problems, then provide thousands of Coppers, solve the migration issues and so on. Has it not dawned on them it can only be spent once?

Let’s fact check - 15,000 to 20,000 doctors don’t leave the NHS every year. That range is an estimate of the volume that left between Sept 2022 and Sept 2023 but that is likely due to Covid burnout. Prior to the pandemic rates of departure were far lower. If departures were at this rate over the long term the number if doctors would have fallen but it has increased from 97,000 to around 125,000 between 2011 and present day. Not enough given population increase combined with increased health needs. But a different story to Habib’s claim.

Nonsense about having more boats and forcing them to turn people away. Wouldn't work as a deterrent at all, same as Rwanda. The way to actually stop small boats and people traffickers means working closer with Interpol/Europol to actually stop the gangs themselves, but the right couldn't possibly do that, because "gLoBaLiSm". This is exactly why nationalism doesn't work, especially in 2024. To deal with Albanian mob people smugglers for instance, you need to actually work with the Albanian government. It's a bit harder to do that if you're a leader that has slagged Albanians off calling, or at the least implying, they all criminals.😂

What struck me was he said "We left 1.8 million people behind". Yet he doesnt seem to grasp that a majority of those "1.8 million" peoole voted remain as did a majority in Scotland. My point is that separate referendums should be held in all 4 countries and if some vote remain, they remain while the ones that vote leave, leave. Or if they didn't want to separate, well then it should have been void. Instead, it was went about the wrong way. As for Brexit, he got what he campaigned for. And it wasn't all rosy as he (Ben Habib) and some others thought it would be. It has instead fractured the trust of many people across the 4 countries and imposed unnecessary economic sanctions and difficulties upon them.
