This broke me, horses are such noble creatures and they serve us humans with so much loyalty, cannot imagine what they go through when they are no longer wanted. Shame on the human race is all I can say. 😥

This video really brought tears to my eyes. That horse looked so mistreated/abused. Thank the lord for these rescue teams, they make such a great and meaningful impact on this Earth. ❤️

I’m 69, and my Dad raised horses. They were his life. This brought tears to my eyes. I didn’t realize they have kill pens. My Dad is in Heaven, but I know he would tell you how thankful he is to me you. I say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. You’re angels. 🙏💗

When I was little, we "acquired" a couple of horses. I learned later that they had been abandoned and my mom rescued them. We were poor, but we never went hungry, and neither did those horses. People thought we were rich because we had horses, little did they know, lol. She traded guitar lessons and babysitting for vet visits and hoof trims. Of course, back then, there were open fields and lots of wooded areas where we could ride and they could feed. I spent many summer days in the woods. God, I miss that. Now all those areas are built up. Horses are such amazing creatures --- they are so much more intelligent than we give them credit for. Growing up with them taught me a lot about trust, healing, and love. God bless this woman and her crew.

Would love to find out where this place is & see if they're hiring; or, any other similar place. Never really been around horses, but, my grandma & my great grandpa (her dad) use to break horses. Have always have a fascination for them; possible need, want, desire to be around them. HA... Would DEF always have an apple or 3 w/me ! = )

What is most wonderful is allowing horses to not have metal nails driven through their feet. God made them perfect so all they need is the horsey necessities and some herd buddies and they are set. All of my horses are barefoot and they travel from cross country, dressage, a bit of jumping and mountainous trails of Tennessee with no problems with any terrain

Hero is not the right word for this young woman. She is a superhero. Rescuing horses from being killed and giving them green pastures to run in--all this takes hard work, dedication, and strength. Thank you.

People don’t realize that these magnificent creatures are just as loving and devoted and full of personality as any dog or cat. Bless these people forever for rescuing them.

@@thisgame2 no you are 100% correct white people treat animals better and in fact they treat people better you can look around the world and see this and maybe that's why it's a battle but they seem to be helping a lot of people that they don't even know and I understand there's a lot of wars and all that crap but it's just a confusing situation on both sides but they're definitely nice to animals

The women running this rescue are some badass home girls in my book. Stay safe and strong I wish you continued success in your amazing work. Every woman and girl every human being should consider finding something they're passionate about that does good work in our world. This is really beautiful. Saving lives one at a time. This poor horse is another example of "owners" treating their animals like commodities and, when they've outlived their "usefulness" are abandoned, neglected or slaughtered. One can only wonder how well they were treated *before* they were tossed away. It's heartening to know that some folks are willing to step up and give these wonderful creatures a second chance at a happier life! Bravo! 👏👏😊💕💕

These people shouldn't even be allowed to own any animals. There should be a law banning those who neglect animals and who are found to have done that to be banned from having animals again

We, as a species, have so much to thank horses for. It breaks my heart to know that they go to slaughter. My paternal grandfather (born in 1890) served for the entirety of the Great War, having volunteered in 1914. As he lay dying in 1980, unfortunately he was lapsing in and out of consciousness and at times was revisiting the horrors he underwent in Belgium. His last words were “the horses, the horses, we’ve got to save the horses”. In civilian life he was a farmer and always had a soft spot for horses. Wo betide any farm worker who mistreated any horse.

I'm in the UK and I couldn't sleep tonight; it's 3:17. I came across your video and I will sleep better knowing that there's people like yourselves who are showing such kindness to animals. Those beautiful horses repay that kindness back to you. It really is so heart warming. Thank you for sharing this video x

This hit me hard. I just started working at a horse sanctuary, after 15 months at a long-term care center. I felt like I won the lottery the first time one of the horses let me kiss their nose.

I worked with a horse and large animal rescue for 10 years. Some of the things I saw really changed me. When you get a rescue animal that is so terrified of life to open up and start to trust...there is nothing like it in this world. Its hard, dirty, heartbreaking work. but when you watch the spark come back into these animals eyes, it makes it all worth it.

Yes! I too have seen and witnessed this in Santa Cruz stables which specialize in saving mistreated horses. After seeing a horse saved convinced me to donate to this charitable organization. Donate to Big John!!

Seeing those beautiful creatures in a pen waiting to be slaughtered broke my heart. Thank you for your hard work in rescuing so many.

I cried hard at this. I'm so grateful for people like you who save these magnificent creatures. I don't know how people can use these horses as work horses & then dispose of them without a second thought. I don't understand how anyone can say any animal have no souls. You need only to look into their eyes to see it. Blessed Be you & all who do this work. I have a friend who moved to Eastern Oregon, bought a ranch & now she works with horse rescues.

The genuine love this girl has for these horses is magical.

If you really care about animal rescue, go do something to show that, go volunteer at an animal shelter. There are horses that do get abused and neglected. But there are also horses that have simply encountered an extremely unfortunate set of occurances that lead them down the path to the kill pen. Maybe their owners were inexperienced or didn't have the money to fix their physical needs ir didn't know how to fix their mental needs...

Breaks my heart to see that Kill pen , as a horse owner for over 45yrs it still amazes me how these beautiful animals can be so mistreated . In my mind you guys have the best job in the world , although deciding which horse from that group you were willing to take with you and give them a better life , this must be in no doubt extremely hard to do . . Same. All our horses were cherished as they aged. We never considered euthanizing them until the vet said there was no other option.

agreed. we have 7 horses, all from the kill pens. we try to save/rehab/train/re-home as many animals we can.

If you think mistreatment is bad now, do some reading about how work animals were treated back when we actually used animals to do a lot of work. In many cases they were used up like disposable items.

My mom was like this. We had 47 acres, 30 stall barn, she used to train and show but stopped after one of the horse auctions we went to. She saw Oldie and that changed everything, she picked up alot from the kill pen and we took care of them until it was there time to go. Ps. I absolutely HATE horses but I respected what Mimi was trying to do for them.

Rescue whatever size animal you can. It's all good! There are lots of fish, hamsters, etc at places like SPCA, and if you can take any animal, donate to a good animal rescue organization, and if you can't donate volunteer, and if you can't volunteer sign petitions. It all helps!

I was amazed that he was only 10 years old. How hard could it have been to find him a new home. On the other hand, there are people who will tell you that they will give a horse a good home and in reality they sell them to the killer dealers or they are themselves

I love how this girl, Alli I think, is so good with the horses… she has a beautiful gift with taking care of them. I’ll never understand how anyone could be so cruel to these amazing animals.

Those kill pens broke my heart. My gosh when are people going to STOP ‘if it no longer works get rid of it’. Cruel beyond belief. Kudos and blessings to this girl and her companions for saving all these beautiful creatures. Here’s a thought. When humans are no longer useful - cull them. Know what - and forgive me - but some people deserve culling. God bless and stay safe - creatures included. 😉

Because he wasn't seen as a living being, but rather a tool. Most of the drafts they rescue are ex-Amish work horses. The Amish don't believe animals have souls. So they use them until they break down, and then they dump them in kill pens.

The trot after his first trim. He’s like “I can trot, ….freedom” I couldn’t think how painful it would be to walk on those overgrown hooves. You could tell he knew the farrier was their to help him and he was such a good boy getting his hooves trimmed. I’m going to donate, your work is amazing you are literally 😇😇😇

It's like all those dogs bought during covid, check your local pound, lots of dogs now. People just want to acquire things but not look after them, horses are expensive to feed and maintain, hoof trims, meds, housing etc. I grew up with a herd of rescued ponies and horses, they were a sad lot when my Dad brought them home, but they flourished, and went on to nicer homes.

For all the therapy benefits that horses provide to people, there should be state and nationally funded programs to provide care for these beautiful creatures. It’s a win win situation. Thank you for making this video and for all that participate in the daily funding and maintenance of rescuing these sweet animals.

I don't even freaking understand why they're sent to slaughter. Just because they can't work doesn't mean they can't enjoy retirement comfortably in a field or as a therapy horse. I just don't get it.

Yes, for all the depressed folks out there on pharmaceutical drugs, and even prisoners etc., learning natural horsemanship and working with horses would be absolutely life changing. If, there are wealthy entrepeneurial horse folks out there why not start such programs, and yes, there should absolutely be government funded programs as well, but, certainly this SHOULD BE HAPPENING widescale.

Not only that, but human history quite literally wouldn't be where it is right now without the horse. Our history is written on the backs of horses. We owe them respect.

My eyes are filled with tears and my heart is filled with gratitude to you for saving these noble animals who are given so little and from whom so much is taken. They deserve to be given a peaceful retirement and not be simply sold by the pound for their meat! How horrible that people would do that to a gentle, loving animal who wants only to give love and to be loved. Many, many blessings on you and on those who work beside you to heal the visible and invisible wounds these wonderful beings have suffered! Bless you, bless you! Much love from Tennessee!

Oh. I didnt realize these horses were Clysdales. Oh!,, these are such proud horses. Just amazing. Were they all at the same place?

seeing that "kill pen" with all the horses just broke me; cried like a baby. Thank god for these people, and those like them. True heroes.

Such a great program , can people donate to your organization? I hope One day we stop all the kills . Animals are such gifts . It makes me cry any animal being treated unfairly

Very sadly this Judeo-Christian belief that "Man has dominion over the Earth" is at the heart of this disposable attitude...that is a mere belief not grounded in quantum physics. The Amish, a "religious" community send these work horses to slaughter. I really doubt Jesus Christ, himself would condone such a thing.

@@revolutionaryviews9702 Yes, I don’t disagree about hardness of heart but one’s belief system IS very important relative also to how a society at large treat animals, take factory farming as an example. Beliefs systems play a MAJOR role in the rationalizing of things that occur that would otherwise be obviously a violation in heart feeling. Yes, and, sure there are other belief systems beyond Judeo/Christian that perpetrate animal abuse and atrocity.

All those kisses and these animals clearly share in the love with their people. I didn't realize how close people could get.

Who could ever send their horse to a kill pen? Why kill such a beautiful, loving creature? So happy to know you're helping to rescue those wonderful horses!

We have rescued so many animals. Cats dogs and Yup horses. We’re old now yet we picked up a miniature donkey and a silver dapple pony. She’s going to take years as she’s the most Ferrell horse we have rescued. Why people have these beautiful creatures and then abuse them is beyond me. Great thing what you are doing . When I saw the kill pens, that made me sad thinking about the fate of those horses. I can’t imagine how easy it is for people to turn their horses in to get slaughtered. 😕🤬

Horses are giant dogs. I can't imagine killing a dog. People that spend their lives to rescue any animal and make them whole again are heros in my book. Honestly, I've only ever rescued and adopted dogs, especially older ones or ones that have been in the system too long. They have been the best friends and the most loving in my experience. You can feel the love and appreciation everytime you look at them

HORSES ARE HORSES AND DOGS ARE DOGS. THE DIFFERENCES IN THESE SPECIES, ONE EQUINE AND THE OTHER CANINE, ARE PROFOUND, LIKE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NIGHT AND DAY.

My mom and I adopted a rescue horse. He is a 14 year old straight Egyptian Arabian. The rescue rescued him from a kill pen with 22 others. He came with a dent on his face from an old injury and is just the sweetest boy ever!

I so admire people like you who pour your heart and soul in to saving these majestic, loyal creatures. Seeing all those other horses stressed out in the kill pens was heart breaking, human beings have a lot to answer for. Thank you for all you do.

I am glad this beautiful horse had a second chance! Breaks my heart to think people could bring harm to animals. Not sure what’s happened to them to treat animals with such disregard to inflict pain. I am so happy there are amazing people that love and care for animals! It’s rewarding to love, save and care for animals - they provide unconditional love to your life! Thank you to everyone that loves and cares for these beautiful horses! 😘🐴♥️🐎 ♥️

I can relate to this. I’m not comfortable around horses, never have been. Frankly, I’m afraid of them. However, my wife ended getting a older rescue horse that was in pretty bad shape. Honestly, we probably paid too much for him, but there was no way we were going to let him suffer one more minute. It’s been a long road getting him back in shape, and we’ve got a long way to go, but like the woman in the video, he’s woken something inside me I didn’t know was even there. That’s what I want to do, too.

The day she picked him up, I went up to where she’s keeping him I met up with her there as they were unloading him from a long day of traveling and a visit to a shoe-er (term?). They were busy checking him over and cleaning him up, so I sucked it up and held his lead, and he just laid his head into me like it was the first kindness he’d seen in a long time. Melted my heart, if I’m honest. I don’t know the first thing about horses, but I’m darn well going to learn. He may not have many years left, but we are determined to make them good ones.

@@earlaroberts5034 Nah, just trying to do right by an innocent creature. They said the woman who had him (and 30 other starving horses) said “I feed my good horses.” Unbelievable. Thank you, though. Believe it or not, that same woman messaged the woman who’s property we are keeping him on and is helping us get him into shape when she posted photos of his weight-gain progress. Former owner actually had the audacity to ask to buy him back. We easily could have made our money back, but there is no way that is happening. She’s never going to see him again, period.

White people have outstanding empathy towards animals (for the most part) . Why did I comment that? Because if your fine w being told how problematic you are then you shouldn't be bothered by a positive attribute. Now demonstrate to everyone how broken you are and get mad about a compliment

Kill pens should be illegal it's 💔 This boy is so beautiful and loving, I actually thought that was a different horse halfway through because his coat was the most beautiful full bodied colour Xx 2:53 "Oh yeahhh that's the spot!" 😂😂🐾💜

I was fortunate to have served in the Army in the late 80s early 90s and next to the Greatest Generation, we were the best Army ever!

What a beautiful horse. I think I get more emotional over animals than I do people sometimes. Great job.

Bless You for helping the Horses. My neighbor rescues Horses & I used to love going to our property line & lure the Horses to the fence with apples. The neighbor had to relocate the Horses after a horrifying fire roared through our properties (100mph winds!) He only lost 1 Horse in the fire, But lost His home & the stables. I stayed & fought the fire & saved my home, But I miss the Horses, & look forward to when He brings the Horses back when He rebuilds His home. All of the Horses He had were abused or neglected Horses, & I got great enjoyment showing Them some love & respect, They are such beautiful creations.

I have a horse. There’s a special connection they have with the ones who love them. If you like the smell of hay and a barn full of horses, you love them. This was both amazing and HEARTBREAKING. We also have a donkey named Tilly. She loves getting her nails “done” and she’s so sweet. Horses are grateful, appreciative and ornery too. How anyone could neglect, hurt or do this has no SOUL. You guys are more than caring humans..You are THE BEST KINDS OF CARING HUMANS. Our horse came from Nevada and was once wild. She has a number branded along side her neck under her beautiful mane. She’s called Nugget. From the mines of Virginia City. Mustang. I’m going out to the paddock and hugging her AGAIN. 🤗 🥺

my uncle got a wild mustang. He had other horses too, but their way of "breaking in" a horse was just breaking the horse. Thank you for taking care of your mustang! Greetings to Nugget! So you know, the way my dad treated animals was so very different. He was kind, they trusted and loved him. We children grew up to know and understand the difference. We all took after my dad.

Why would a being who is supposedly human treat an animal, an idea or expression of the Creator, in this manner? Just send it to be slaughtered? This made me cry and cry and cry. When Big John was running my heart soared with his. You folks are love in action. I am so very grateful for all you are doing. I rescue cats which I'm sure is not nearly as demanding as the wonderful work you are doing. These magnificent creatures deserve to be treated with love & respect as do all of God's ideas. Bless you and your work.
