As a foxbody guy - this is easily the coolest II I've ever seen, even with a bit of rust and the other stuff you haven't addressed yet! Man definitely had a plan for this car.

Put the blower on the 302, turn the t5 into a frag grenade, put a a stronger trans behind the 302, brake the block in half. This thing was meant purely for being a cool street car, not speed.
Thanks for expressing and portraying your knowledge and skills in such a detailed manner. I enjoy following along on your revivals and this one was well worth the initial outlay. Stay safe.
Really cool build the guy had going, shame he didn't get to finish it but I surely hope he sees the finished product someday...Thanks for sharing the project.
Kevin, something else to consider, that appears to be an SN95 (94-95 5.0) bellhousing. They are vented at the bottom like yours. Which an SN95 bell is about 5/8" longer/deeper than a foxbody bellhousing. You may want to also check and make sure the input shaft bearing retainer AND input shaft on the T5 is either a Fox or SN95 input shaft bearing retainer and input shaft. They're different lengths as well and can be mis-matched easily especially if the car was thrown together like it was. May be some of your odd clutch engagement issues. Maybe. Just something to consider. ~Jesse
@JestersGarage
Жыл бұрын
I kept thinking about this at night. If you need more throw on the cable and no adjustable cable exists (I have no idea) you may want to look into converting that trans to a fox bell, input shaft, and bearing retainer. Will bring everything about 5/8" inch closer. Not sure what your driveshaft situation is right now or if that will cause problems for you. I've also heard of people bending the clutch forks as crazy as that sounds. If you need pics of fox stuff I have some I can get to easily.
I'm that one guy you see at the car show that loves a Mistang II! Thanks for saving this one from the crusher. I look forward to seeing your next video on this car!!!
That was fun guys! Love seeing neglected projects come back to life! 😃
All things considered, you guys did a pretty quick revival on this. Lost a ‘61 Olds scenicoupe due to an engine fire. Fan belt broke and knocked off the glass fuel filter bowl. This was around 1974, just another old car back then. Low milage beauty made it a tough loss. Today I’d repair it, burnt the wiring harness up pretty good and scorched the paint on the hood. Around the same time, my buddy bought a ’74 Mustang 2 brand new. Little 4 cylinder took forever to hit freeway speed. I think we hung it out once and it topped out at 85
Hey , I love this project. I can appreciate the fact the old man had a lot of original parts including the old 8Track. I really would love to see you fully restore this car including the super charger. You can see the old man put slot of time money and good parts into this car. Please build it to be the Super Sleeper it was intended to be. Once you get it done go take the old man for a ride. 👍🏻
Really enjoy your videos, refreshing to have someone speaking who actually knows what he is talking about! So many of the folks doing these videos are not experienced mechanics, and anyone who knows can tell the difference. Please revisit this project!
That was so cool! Makes me miss my good old friends. Dave's '67 383 4spd Barracuda, Roger's '73 327 Vega, Mike's '68 350 (Chevy) 4spd Firebird, and my '64 340 4spd Valiant. Loved working on our cars together back then.

Used to work as a Tool & Diemaker. Another trick to use with a broken bolt counter-drilled off centre. start with a sharp centre-punch. Tap very lightly. If you see your mark off-centre slant your punch and move it to centre. Follow up with a centre-drill or small drill. When you get a centre point hole that a drill will follow, continue with the tap-drill size. When using a tap, put grease in the flutes and most of your cutings will stick in the flutes. Bill

I'm definitely thinking this is your Power Tour car for 2023! it's definitely got some kinks to work out, but all the hard stuff is done. Even the interior isn't terrible. Throw some seat covers on, and roll with it
Duck, it must be nice to work on an old car that has a lot of information and parts floating around. It's pretty cool that most of the hard work was already done. It's almost like fast tracking on a rebuild/restoration. 42:35 🤣 Brilliant 44:33 The funny lines keep coming. Funny car
I was 13 years old, working in my dad's garage and installing a water pump on a 289, when my dad gave me a bit of wisdom i have never forgotten. He said to me, "Put the long bolts go in the deep holes and the short bolts in the short holes."
I had a 75 with a 302 and Headman used to make headers for it. They sucked to put in but were worth it. The rear springs in mine were shot too. Back then (the 80s) we used to just stick a pair of air shocks in and call it fixed. Then when it was time to finish it right, I picked up a new set for something like $200 for the pair. Loved that car and more than anything loved that everyone wrote it off as a POS until I left them in the dust. As for the 4 lugs, I hated them. Must have sheered all eight off a half a dozen times before I found someone to cut down 5 lug axes for it. (We didn't have options like QP back then). Enjoy it, it's a fun car and you can make them handle pretty well too.
7 minutes in and I’m in love. That supercharger needs to go on this thing now! Leave it to the Fiero guy to like a Mustang 2. I’d love something like this to add to my T-top car collection that currently has an 88 Fiero and 81 Trans Am.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. The II was not what we wanted when they first came out but the square body US made 79s made everyone yearn for the German/British made Fords with their yellow turn signals all of a sudden. The styling wasn't as far off as the US versions started veering into. It took 15 years to get the styling back.
Can’t wait to see what you do with this car! This was a great episode I hope to see the mustang again soon!
I’m sure somebody already said this before but if you take the trim panel off in front of the gauges, there is a selector on the tack and you can set it to eight for number of cylinders. I never really liked these cars but as I get older, I find that they are really cool and I’d love to see this one again!

Even though the Mustang II is not very desirible, this video brings back a lot of nostalgia for me. Great Video! These cars are coming into their own these days! Cant wait to see how you finish it!
Just a heads up that cloth interior that was in that car is called the fashion Decor package and it's a very rare option. Also the dash bezel you have with the engine turned finish similar to the one the Trans Am's had is a special Ghia package that bezel is worth like 400 bucks. It's a shame somebody drilled holes in it. There's companies now that sell the full upholstery kit and all the weather stripping this is a really nice car you guys have to put it together. Also I'm with everyone else put that supercharger and side pipes on it. I've restored two of these, I love them.
I think this is one of the best JYD builds ever. Just finding one that isn't totally rotted is a major score. I had a 78 ghia with a 302 back in 1990 and that car was a blast. I think you should power tour this girl!!
