Abandoned Power Plant Stealth Camping
This old hydroelectric generating station made a perfect camping spot for the night. Crazy Neighbor came out with me for this trip and it was great to have company. It was a little rainy but most of the power plant was dry enough to camp comfortably.

My favorite Steve Wallis video. RIP crazy neighbor :(
Great to see you exploring the old power plant. A friend of mine retired from there about sixty years ago after spending most of his working career as an engineer at that location. And the dry land sort across from the beach campsite was my grandfather's gold claim in the 30s. Your journeys always spark some memories. Keep up the good work.
Crazy Neighbor is the type of friend that you need when you are going through a really tough time. I'm glad he's been there for Steve.
I love the vibe of this video, it starts out all sensible talking about contingencies for bears and earthquakes, cooking in one location and sleeping in another, putting down boards to cover tripping hazards etc. Then the booze comes out and it becomes a proper boys night. Shenanigans ensued, suddenly there's a big fire in the middle of the room and they move the sleeping bags and food there instead, because fires are awesome! Sure it wasn't as stealthy but it looked like a lot of fun was had.
💙 I never skip ahead! It's about the journey as much as the destination 🥰🤘Big shout out and thanks Steve 👐

Just discovered this channel not too long ago and it has quickly become my favorite. I grew up camping but rarely do it anymore. I'm rather anxious these days with work, life and family and your channel and videos have given me some semblance of peace in the evening before I go to bed. I find your episodes quite entertaining and calming at the same time. Being an old skateboarder I love this episode. Love the skater engenuity. Reminds me of hauling tools and wood and creating structures in the forest near the mountains where I lived. :)
Plant technician here; if it's an abandoned power plant, it's absolutely to code for earthquakes, even if old.. They anchor these things deep and ironwork the roof until you could hoist a mountain off of it. I'd rather be in there than anywhere in a quake.

The thing is, if I am not mistaken, is that a black bear will stalk you more so than a grizzly. The earthquake thing made me think that if the power station was abandoned and yet was built along the coast, I would think that it had already "survived" some small tremors. If there were no obvious cracking in the concrete that would indicate structural compromise, then it should be good to go.

i was thinking the same thing bro, much love from ft worth.. SK84LIFE
Hey Steve, I discovered your channel a couple months ago and I've ended most of my late nights in veterinary school watching your videos before bed. I lost my dad a couple years ago, and have thought about him every day for the last four years. I'm glad to see you continuing your passion and I'm honored to share this journey with you and crazy neighbor. Rest in peace to your dear beautiful wife, may her spirit travel with us forever.
Teenage me would have loved this place! It's an art gallery, a skate spot, a piece of local history, and a camping spot all in one!
The graffiti in that place is BEAUTIFUL. I love stumbling into impromptu art galleries like that, real artists out there practicing their craft.
Steve, this is one of the best videos yet. Looks like you two had a blast. Thank you for allowing us to live vicariously through your adventures. 😊

As someone in NW Montana that has had neighbors attacked by a black bear. I never go camping without a big firearm. Glad to see you and crazy neighbor on another adventure. It's actually great. Boy those graffiti artists are very talented. As a widower of 15 years I know how hard it is. God bless you man.

That’s what folks don’t realize everyone is so scared of brown bears because there big and rightfully so if they attack you then your done for even if you don’t die you’ll wish you did but black bears are just as bad specifically because of there smaller size there much more unpredictable a brown bear will likely only attack if they have cubs but black bears have attacked people for far less they just felt cornered or threatened and chose not to run away like most brown bears will
Hey Steve. This episodes should been called "Having fun with Steve " because you and Crazy neighbor seemed like two kids in a candy store. lol. I love the half pipe challenge and your enthusiasm with the old generator system in the basement. so glad your in a good place. Keep having fun my buddy... Crazy Neighbors is a good loyal friend. keep him close.
Crazy Neighbour is hesitant to let himself get into the whole experience, but when he finds that old porcelain wire thing, he really clears any confusion for the viewer whether he likes it or not, really great to watch.
