Abandoned Luxury Mansion reveals Secret Life of WW2 Soldier

Travelers in Time: France (Season 02, Episode 03) Château d'Or
In this video, we explore a French château veiled in silence. To unravel its story, we have to investigate on-site. In such abandoned homes, the air is thick with the untold, and every chamber is a canvas of memories left to fade. What happened to the residents, and why was everything just left behind like that? The answers are elusive, hidden under layers of dust and decay. Our journey in the shadows reveals vintage relics, scattered throughout the eerie tranquility of this mansion. Join us in discovering the truth hidden behind forgotten walls! #urbex #abandonedplaces #bwturbex

Things I liked in video: 1906 passport,1945 soldier card, cheese tag scrapbook, vivid floral//wagon wallpaper, copper pots on wall, decaying photos in frame on wall at the beginning, horse 🐎 betting game. Most of all I loved the communication between Till,Marco, and the large crow 🐦‍⬛

This was once a beautiful home sheltering a vibrant and refined family. Now only echoes of them remain in the things they treasured and kept around them, and the memories they preserved to remind them of happy times. As always, you have made a beautiful video with your impressive skills and appreciation for what once was. It is fascinating to see these places through your eyes, and to realize that my own home could one day be like this. The stocks and bonds could still be worth a little money if the company is still operating, or were consolidated by an existing company. The coupons were meant to be sent back to the company as a form of payment for interest. One of the stocks looks like it’s from a South African gold mining company. It’s very likely that your calendar is worth more than the documents. The ones in Cyrillic refer to something about Turkestan and rewritten in a few languages about the value of currencies/exchange rates, but it isn’t clear what it’s for. …I really enjoy your channel because you guys are curious, but respectful.

The closest I got was when my brother bought a house whose owner, an old woman, had recently deceased, and all her relatives were living abroad, so most of her previous possessions were there. I helped emptying out the house and I got a good look around. I even got to take some items home, something that one wouldn't do on an urbex trip. There are some urbex channels out there that focus primarily on homes, so I've watched quite a lot of them. It never gets boring. Every house and story is unique.

I recognize the hand beater, the metal whisk you found in the kitchen. It has a wide band which would have screwed onto a large glass jar. Pour fresh-from-the-cow milk in there, screw on the whisk, and churn away. In just a few minutes, the milk will separate into whey, cream and butter. Nothing more delicious than fresh churned butter! I love the find of the white gowns and the photos to go with them. Those were very special dresses. And more ammunition! I wonder if the person who slept there felt the need for protection, to have (presumably) a gun and ammo right in the drawer by the bed. What a wonderful exploration. So sad to see these old homes abandoned abruptly. Everything left behind. But we can appreciate it, and wonder about the generations who lived there. Thanks for this one guys! It’s fantastic!

I’m not sure if someone commented on the mining documents you found yet, but more than likely those were for gold and copper mines in Boulder, Colorado USA. A letter you found dated 1849 previously stated something about an expedition, which could be referring to “Fremont’s Expedition” which was in Colorado. In this time period, several people were going west to find their fortune in newly-discovered and established gold and copper mines. It sounds like the owner of this property had some investments in American gold and copper mines.

The mansion stands in the northern part of France, not far away from the UK. This might explain the flag. About the light: Usually, we want to keep a low profile when using a flashlight - especially in this case when police was right across the street! Apart from that, we prefer a more mysterious look for our videos, so we don't want bright light to be everywhere in our shots.
