Abandoned Hand Plane Restoration
Hello folks! Today I want to show you my new restoration project. This old rusty hand plane has an interesting story. The seller found this plane in an abandoned chicken coop. I can say that this restoration was one of the most time-consuming.
Restoration process:
Initially, I disassembled the entire plane in detail. All the parts I left in the rust removal fluid. Then I washed everything in water with cleaning agent and oiled it. Then I started polishing the parts via iron brush. The most difficult thing was to restore the sole of the plane. It took 2 days. I sharpened the plane knife again. The wooden handles were sanded, oiled, and varnished. Part of the broken rear handle was repaired with sawdust and glue.
There was a lot of work behind the scenes. I really hope, you enjoy my work. Thanks for your attention!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

Looks like a Soviet Voskov plane. We get these from time to time in Australia. Nicely done!
Another excellent recovery. The plate was a mess but you got it back to good order. Many more years of service from it now!
Great work! 👍 BTW, 0:57 remember, hot metal looks exactly the same as cold metal, but it feels different. 😜

It's not that you can't touch it, you just can't touch it for very long.
Looks good but the Y lever is supposed to go inside the groove on the depth adjuster. 😀

Exactly! I had to check the comments to see if someone else had noticed it.
Beautiful job. This is a tool that you will use often, and every time you will proud of the effort that you put in to making it.
Nice, you will get many years of service, thanks for sharing.
This is a very nicely done restoration of a most commonly used tool for a carpenter. Thanks for sharing this video with us and remember Texas is watching you.

Excellent work! Very satisfying seeing an abandoned tool brought back to life.
We love tea this man wants tea Give it to him he needs it more than we do
Very nice job! You know, almost every brand of plans that has a little age on it; falls victim to a cracked rear handle. You did a good save on this one. Hope you enjoy it.
nice job sir. u didn't repaint, just kept the beautiful patina...👏 if others are looking for tips, i also treated all the parts of my stanley no5 with a thin coat of owatrol oil (uk)...seals, rust proofs, darkens the steel/iron to a nice rich colour...maybe some wax too😀
that almost looks brand new...great job!
Great job. I watched my grandfather as he rebuilt several hand planes. He was a carpenter and cabinet maker and depended on his tools. Always took pride in producing a quality, hand made product. You brought back some great memories, and I thank you.
I've got a plane I need to restore. Thanks for sharing.😄
Nicely done 👍👍👍Thanks for sharing
Fantastic, but the fork and adjustment screw are installed wrong. The fork goes in the slot on the screw so you can adjust the iron in and out. But it's absolutely beautiful otherwise

Great job on the restore but I’m more impressed that you could remember where every part goes. 😄👍🏻
I really like old hand planes and have 60 of different kinds. Then feel good in the hand. I am sure you will enjoy yours especially after you spent so much time in your excellent restoration. Great work!
Hi I'm ashraf I've watched all ur videos love it.....true ❤👌😁
Great job! That thing looked beyond repair.
Bravo. Superbe restoration !
awesome restoration. I believe you may not have put it back together right. The Y lever sits in the channel of the depth adjuster.
Love and patience gone into this piece, turned out excellent
VERY NICE!

That was a very involved restoration. You are amazing with all the little details.
Nice job 👍
The Yoke needs to go around the adjuster wheel first , you did a nice job of cleaning it up though well done 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Beautiful workmanship. A new life for a good tool.
Great restoration! I enjoyed you using wood shavings to repair the damaged handle! Nice work!
Good job!
Nice ideas brother
Top 10 Parabens👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for the video. I realize that some of those screws are already rather buggered, I use a gunsmith's screwdriver most of the time, it helps avoid messing up the slot on a good screw.
Perfect
I love your work 👍👍👍

Nice neat job
Amazing great work!
I just did more or less the same sort of thing this past winter with a big plane that I inherited. You did a terrific job there, and it's a nice tool to have.
Perfeito Parabéns !
As I saw it on IG, I never thought how the results would be. Very impressive work, my friend 👌🏻👍🏻🇲🇽 saludos desde México
Excellent job, looks new but better. I'm busy sorting out my dads old tools, there's a great sense of achievement in restoring old tools. such history in them. I recently learned the trick of using polyurethane varnish mixed with sawdust if you want the filling to match the stain, I've never tried super glue though, looks much quicker. One last thing, your first aid looks like mine, paper towel and electrical tape, works better than any band aid!
This is a very good result!! It cost you a lot of elbow grease to flatten the sole (pitting!!) nice video, continue;-))
It looks like Stanley Bailey Type 3 from 1872-73 - quite rare one! :) Nice find and restoration!
Hai da !👍😂😂😂👏 , da în sfârşit trebuie să adaugă : "Hop, şi aşa !"😂😂😂
That's a top notch resto man 10/10. 🇦🇺 🏴☠️
Nice looking plane and good result. I like this sort of restoration.
You good..... You good.....
Great job restoring that plane. 👏👏
i'm happy i found your channel it's fun and satisfying to watch your work keep it up :)
It came out beautifully 😍
Great work!
When you see that this craftsman restores every individual screw and washer, then you get the meaning of "dedication".
Beautiful restoration
Another great work, thank you.
A beautiful restoration! I have a very similar plane in my garage that belonged to my father. He died young in 1983, it's been in my garage since then and I've never used it. I feel moved to try to renovate it now, copying your actions. Thanks, Nick
That is some transformation - great job!
Wow!
