You do need to drain down the boiler or system first guys. So be sure to do that.

Hi. Great video. However, folks should be careful when greasing the spring as the air hole (the bleed hole) starts in the middle of the spring. It starts behind the little red plug that you can just about see at 2:42, runs towards the end for the allen key and then up towards the cap. Too much grease might block the hole. I was checking mine by blowing into it and it takes a lot of effort (meaning the holes are tiny).

Great video. I take it you need to depressure the system first 🤔

You're correct, you can isolate the flow and return then drain the boiler only (preferred). Or just drain the system (not the best option). The full video is coming soon so you'll see it being drained down and other parts being changed

is this on an ideal combi c30? Because we have an ideal combi c30 and recently had a plumber out who advised us to put an AAV in. But I thought we already had one in our boiler?!

Hi, I believe the boiler was a Viessmann not Ideal. All combi would an AAV though. You can have additional AAVs if your system doesn't get rid of air efficiently, this is usually the case when a house has large extensions and the pipework drops. If he's experienced he should know best.

Is the cap supposed to be screwed tight or left lose, my friends was loose and water dripping from it, thanks

  • @mendyourhome

It should be loose to let air out, if water is leaking it needs a service or replacement. Might also indicate that the expansion vessel need replacing/charging

Brilliant thanks, Can I ask another question I was researching ? Baxi duo tec 33ga shows E385, not much information about this on the net other than low voltage, could it be anything else other than the pcb, interested in learning Thank you

@@jasongr1583 best to check the voltages coming in. Follow safety isolation procedure, Make sure there's 230+. Occasionally 220 -240 in some places. But less may indicate an issue. Do a polarity test (check neutral isn't live, check earth isn't live) this can literally stop a PCB or boiler from working and is the most basic check most miss. Then call baxi and go through checks with them, before committing to buying am expensive pcb
