@@rodofdiscipline1887 It less idoctrianated as just basic facts and theist can't understand those facts (or won't accept said facts) so ask blinding ask more pointless complicated questions that you average person cant answer. so we lead you to a place that can properly tell you, unlike theists. and how are we being duped? cause here is the basics for evolution. it is the name of the process when a given species changes through environmental factors and mutation over time. we have found evidence through fossils, DNA, and observable changes in viruses, bacteria, and bugs, dogs, ect etc. that's it. it's not promising some great answer to the origins or meaning of life. its not saying if we follow some rules we will get a happy ending after we die. all evolution is a name to a fact of life that's it. if you want an in-depth understanding of it then get off youtube and find a proper non-religious course that teaches it. this does not require blind faith. god on the other hand does. you have no actual proof there is a god but you believe there one. you have no proof that this god is the god of you bible and not any of the other gods that have existed over the countless years of human existence. and that you way of worshiping said god is right despite so many of the same worhsipers cant seem to agree on that. that blind faith and its a faith you base so much of yourself and life around. evoltion is just a living thing changing over time. don't really need much faith in that.

Sort of the point of things they did like Life of Brian… When you look with any ounce of reason it’s all absurd. Thankfully I don’t have much in the way of religious family, we’ve got some Catholics who go through the motions but don’t really try to ram it down our throats. I’ve only ever had to have one or two conversations on the subject of belief with them and when I’ve said something like “okay, you believe in that god, I’ll believe in Ra, prove I’m wrong” we just leave it there. I’m more than happy to let them have their beliefs, as long as it’s not forced on me, or any aspect of my life.

I find it astonishing that religion is the only sphere of human endeavor in which a string of unsupported assertions is supported by yet ANOTHER string of unsupported assertions and that strategy is viewed as legitimate. What a sad example of how religion completely derails rational thought.

I was raised Catholic and for my family it's more of a cultural thing and nobody obeys the church outside of Holy Days. Like each generation is having waaay less children, obviously everyone is using birth control. It's a very 'Saturday Sinners/Sunday Saints' type deal. But other fundie sects very much bleed into everyday life and there's no just ignoring what you want to ignore type deal. Plus I'd argue Catholics don't really fit the BITE model. The problem is that many theists say they don’t accept evolution but they can accept that living things evolve. What they don’t accept is abiogenesis but this is distinct from evolutionary theory in that the science is not settled. Are you questioning evolution or abiogenesis?

If I found out my school had paedophile teachers that were protected by the head teacher there's no way I'd let my kids go to that school and certainly no way I would help to fund it. I was raised Catholic by my mom (not dad). All the priests seemed nice, until I was in my late teens, when a new priest was transferred. Said that all non-Catholics go to Hell, and EVEN THEN... 99% of CATHOLICS go to Hell. I concluded that if the Hell-rate is that high, then God is a PSYCHO. Been an atheist ever since. I was 23. Now I'm 25

No, life has never been able to come from anything "natural." Anything "natural" only decays in disorder over time via the 2nd law. That's why we have never seen any new anatomy (evolution) in any human, plant or animal for 10,000 yrs. Evolution is simply impossible, but that also applies to any atheist idea (e.g. big bang, abiogenesis, mistakes (mutations) gaining in complexity/new information, star formation, evolution). They can't happen and are impossible to happen.

I'm currently reading "Life's Origin" edited by J. William Schopf. The caller could start by reading that if he doesn't understand how life can develop from non-life through natural chemical processes. From my own perspective growing up a six thousand year creationist, I would've found reading such a book, or the idea of reading it, tedious. I was more interested in books on the end times or Christian encounters with demons, or near death experiences with heaven. That was much more exciting than reading a book on a subject I was so sure was false anyway. This was one of the major road blocks in my life in getting out of that mindset. Or at least looking at other perspectives. Plus it didn't help that I was convinced by other believers Satan was always planting false literature out there to lull me to hell in the end. That assertion of "Satan dresses it all up to sound so convincing" etc. Anyway, it was more exciting to read things that proped up my beliefs. Like now I find shows about ghostly encounters (I took them more as demonic encounters) so boring because I think the people are just lying about it and such. Where as before I found such shows fascinating. Same with subjects I mentioned above. Now a book on the end times or NDE sounds boring.

Interesting that Aaron believes life can only arise through supernatural intervention. I don't believe anything supernatural exists in our universe. If it did, it wouldn't be supernatural.

You don't just bring/make up the next point in an argument. The logic of the argumentation as a whole is predicated by what was said before, as a foundation, and the consequences of each step following. Theists(I guess is fitting) speak as though the arguments to be brought up as evidence, of which will be brought up, need to be "made up". As if it's not just something you observe. While relaying, as clear as possible, a representation of the observation.

My mother was a non practising catholic so this nonsense was never forced upon me. My cousins however, we’re sent to catholic schools and Sunday schools and masses and confessions and all the crap that goes with being a catholic. All of them hated the catholic schools and the stupidity of the masses but they spoke of these rituals in hushed tones, their fear was palpable . If that is what being a catholic is all about I owe my parents a huge debt for not forcing that nonsense on me.

All the great testimonies given us as examples in the Bible (Hebrews 11) start with faith Proof is readily available. God I'm glad I'm not Cathokmlic anymore. My family is oldworld oldschool Catholic. This is very typical of Catholic reasoning. Like I was taught that The Trinity is just 'too complicated for us to understand' and that I should just 'accept' & 'give it to god' whatever that means. Imagine a new type of plane is being built and investors ask about how it works and how safe it is being too 'This is just too complicated to understand. However, I'm beginning to understand if it's the same tired argument over and over again... but I understand your point too. I find listening to other hosts more of a back and forth conversation going on...
