Thanks guys, I just recently moved back in with my parents, and for the last five years I've been away my parents complained about having to hold down the button at the keypad or the button inside the garage. I'm pretty hands on, and I was ready to rewire this thing until I saw your video. My issue was the green LED was flashing, your video saved me a service call and at least $50. The green LED sensor was misaligned the whole time. It literally took me ten seconds after watching this video to fix an issue my parents have dealt with for 5 years. I appreciate this video, and I'm giving it a thumbs up. Keep up the good work!

Saved me $40. Thanks. Loose connection fixed and lights on. But clicked button would not go down. Did the loose test and yep it was the friction. Readjusted and tried again worked perfect.

Hello, thank you so much for your amazing video. I just fixed my garage door!! I actually called the Aladdin doors, but they told me that, the next service available they have is tomorrow afternoon. I told them, I couldnt close my garage door, but still they told me, we couldnt come out till tomorrow. Aladdin doors previously installed liftmaster on my garage door. Problem solved Step 1, cleaned and aligned sensors. My issue was the garage would start down then stop and go back up, with both the hand opener and the remotes. All works now, thank you so very much

Thank you for this video! I had the same problem. I called Chamberlain and they told me to remove the sensor and point it to the ground and then up to the ceiling, then point it at the other sensor till the light came back on. I put it back into the bracket and it worked after that. They were very helpful. This was after I had tried many times to adjust the travel limits and setting the force limit. I also had a problem with the lights on the opener that light up the garage so you can get to the car not coming on. They told me to unplug the opener from the power supply and remove the bulb and pry up the metal tab at the bottom of the socket that contacts the bottom of the light bulb and put the bulb back and plug it in...that solved that. I was about to replace the whole unit but with their help was able get it working again. Very pleased.

You're instructions fixed my problem as well. One additional note... the green light never blinked when the door malfunctioned...and it was not at all loose. But, I removed it completely...put it back on and tightened it back up...and Taaa Daaa.....It works again! Thanks for your video!

makes sense. for me it was the cheap wiring hung above the door. finally took it's toll. some cheap stereo wiring solved the problem.

How about if both sensor lights are off? The door opens with the car garage opener. It closes only if you hold down the button inside the garage.

This is exactly what was wrong with my door. Thanks for the video.

Just checked this on my door - I found that while the yellow light on the sender was on, the unit was loose in the bracket. Thus it was off-kilter just enough that the receiver wouldn’t see it. I tightened the wing nut for the sender and recentered a t in the window of the bracket, and voila! The green light on the other side came on. Easy fix.

“A1” lol ...ive heard about the A1 phone book trick! Great vid! I feel stupid for not looking this up long ago.

Do the sensor lights always stay on when the door is closed? From time to time I noticed that when the garage door light turns off, the sensor lights turn off too, but not all the time, most of the time they stay on. Just curious, thank you!

Very informative video, but it did not fix my problem. I have a Genie screwdrive system. The problem has to do with the light interfering with the beam. I place a board on the outside of the garage on both sides to put both sensors in the shade. But the beam doesnt travel accross in the daytime, so it wont close. But in the night, the door open and closes no problem. I think the sending unit may be sending a weak signal since in the day, it wont open and close, even by putting both sensors in the shade. How do i test to see if the sensor is bad?

Also, most GDOs have a certain number of times the light blinks indicating which problem it has. Both of my GDOs blink 6x when the safety beam is blocked.

Yesterday my wife opened the garage door from the wall button as always, she got in her car and started to back out ,before she could back out fully the door came down all of a sudden and crashed on the roof damaging the fin antenna. The door had been working fine . The bottom roller was a little chewed up and out of the track. Any idea what would cause this. We had the rollers replace 6 months ago with the better rubber ones.

I have limit switch in door closed position so when you manually close your door the limit switch is on and chain will not move. you have to lift the door past the limit switch

What voltage should go from the terminal block to the safety eye (white to black)? What should a meter read in Ohms to each safety eye pair?

My door wouldn't close and the main light kept blinking, even though the sensor lights were both steady. I tightened up every bolt on the door and on the rails as well as the mounting bolts on the wall. I sprayed the rollers and rods with white lithium grease and the chain and gear with WD40. I removed the wing nuts on the sensors and cleaned the threads with a wire brush and sprayed them with WD40. I then removed the sensor mounting brackets and checked the level of the garage floor. It was perfectly level, so I then remounted the sensor brackets at 4" from the floor exactly on both sides, cleaned the lenses and remounted the sensors sliding them backwards (away from each other) and tightened them, centering the lenses. It was important to tighten with a pair of pliers. Now my garage door works like the day it was first installed. I hope this helps anyone.
