I am so glad that I just discovered you just commented on first video of yours I watched. I have to be honest just this trailer and the music has me in tears. I very very often wonder how my father and all the other brave soldiers felt during this time. After all this was the era when not many had traveled far at all My father for example was from a very small village in Llandybie in South Wales 🏴 and had never been anywhere at all outside the village. Then to be called up, 6 weeks training and sent miles and miles away to fight must have been petrified. His youngest brother was shot down and killed on his first mission in the RAF. My dad was in the Royal Welch Fuseliers (that’s how Welch was spelt in the regiment then) He was injured and sent home but after treatment during which an American Dr saved his arm, he was sent back out to fight He wouldn’t talk much about it while I was growing up but as he got older he opened up about some of it For example when they were being taken off the beaches. The boats couldn’t come in very close to shore they were being attacked by planes etc as it was. The soldiers had to line up holding their rifles above their heads (mustn’t get the rifles wet) and in a line move forward one step at a time. If the man in front of you got shot and fell you just stepped over him. Even if you got to the boat you weren’t save as they were still firing at you. From the beach and from the air He made it home But, many ppl think the war ended when Germany surrendered Not so, we were still fighting the Japanese And this is the battle that affected my dad He married my mother after being demobbed She woke up choking three weeks later with his legs around her throat fighting. Nowadays it would be called PTSD Not in those days They must have sorted it because I’m one of four, the youngest and they were married 51 years until his death

The photo of the GIs beside a Crocdile flame thrower was probably taken during the battle to take Brest. It is well know that the GIs used Crocodile flame throwers and the Churchill 3 with the petard "flying dust bin" projector to help take Brest.
Hi buddy Really looking forward to rhe Normandy series your channel is epic mate.cheers Gary 🇬🇧.

Thanks for doing these! Been really pulled towards absorbing this era of WW2. Watched Monuments Men last night and that scene of them landing on the beach after everything was said and done really gives one a good perspective of just how HUGE that operation was! It was ENORMOUS! Blows the mind!
