@@JuMiKu Agreed. Though in some states stuff like this happens due to money. Ether the state gives no protections to a low income or no income spouse so they are completely dependent on a wealthier partner who is abusing them, or a state has really harsh alimony laws where the wealthier partner will have to continue to pay for the upkeep of the poorer spouse and is tired of being used and disrespected by a deadbeat. In these rare extreme cases I can kind of understand where the poisoner is coming from, though doing it in such a cruel way and being able to just watch them suffer like that does counter that sympathy. Like I said, sympathetic cases are super rare. Most poisoners are ether just greedy or cruel and vindictive people. I think states should really reform their divorce laws to have the wealthier spouse only give temporary support to the poorer spouse, and the poorer spouse only getting property they contributed to in some small way, and that all marriages even between financial equals should involve prenuptial agreements to avoid all this mess.

I'm a plumber, i frequesntly go to calls where customers use draino before they decided to call me, draino is not so bad i get it on my skin often, the drain cleaner that was used in this story was draino, I never had to look at the label to know whats in it you can smell the lye and bleach, often times draino is just bleach and water. sometimes they mix lye in it, this stuf is not so bad, now the stuff that professionals may use is actually an acid, i dont need to use it often but i will. its concentrated 99% sulfuric acid, that will eat through metal pipes and ANY organic material including soaps, hair, grease, and yes flesh. draino itself wont cause any damage to your pipes, but the acid i use will, i can see it start to melt metal if i pour it down a metal drain, which i will do if im using my judgement as a professional, Draino is the weak stuff, the acid is the better stuff and a drain snake is the best one

As a nurse student I had a lovely beautiful patient who lived from the 1960s through 1985 having drank drain cleaner to commit suicide in the rehab facility attached to our Hospital. Her story was very sad. she had fallen deeply in love with a wonderful man who had taken her away from poverty and they're only child was killed in Vietnam. Sadly it killed the husband he had been an older man and his heart couldn't take it within the year he was gone. She was so bereft and so alone even though his family loved her turned out that she was an orphan and had no family she had come from an orphanage in the 1930s and met him just after the war. She was the epitome of Elegance but that little darling you had to watch her because she dearly wanted to taste food and back then they couldn't save you they couldn't save anything and she had nothing below her vocal cords basically she was fed through a tube in her stomach luckily the drain cleaner didn't make it that far she vomited it up since it was so caustic I think she really drank the solid stuff and so she could only melt Jello and sherbet in her mouth and swallow that because she had to keep her throat lubricated. she could talk with a whisper so beautiful and so elegant and his family just adored her. Us nurses because I did get hired on there after training and getting some of my licensing and then going on for my bigger degree I stayed as they had a good reputation and I loved my patience some of them were who's who of Hollywood and some of them were people like her who had been left behind. Never quite understood his family they would bring boxes of candy they meant it for us nurses and her roommate they knew she couldn't eat any but that little stink pot would sneak a piece and she would always swear she meant to spi it out but it tastes so good and she really thought that it would melt enough to swallow and we'd be in there pounding a piece out of her throat. I was so glad for her when she was able to be released from this Earthly burden on an amazing rain and Thunder filled night unusual for California as she Slipped Away to meet her boys. I would never wish that life on anyone even if you accidentally drank it or someone fed it to you I just cannot imagine someone being horrible and doing that. It was so odd that all these years later my medical facility is Infamous for the doctor who tried to kill her husband with Drano. He caught her on video putting it in his coffee. She thought she could bamboozle the investigators. I hope she pays as she knew how much it would hurt him physically Not only was she trying to kill him but she tortured him doing it.

I cannot imagine the absolute misery and unyielding pain this man probably experienced. Yes, he may have been a completely lazy douche, but he certainly did not deserve this. Plus, he is extremely fortunate that he survived and will potentially suffer from permanent effects. One time, I carefully poured drain cleaner into my bathroom sink due to a sluggish drain and must have only been in the BR for 30-45 seconds (maybe less). Approximately two or three minutes later, I could taste blood in my mouth and ended up with a sore throat lasting for a couple of days. That happened to me due to being exposed to just the fumes for less than one minute! I cannot imagine actually consuming this substance! I learned a highly important lesson when dealing with drain cleaners- open windows, turn on the exhaust fan, and wear a mask and goggles- these products are extremely dangerous! It makes me extremely leery to ever use them again.

Looks like this was based on the case of a california dermatologist who poisoned her husband by putting drano in his lemonade. In this particular case, he wasn't actually a freeloader and also she and her mother abuse their kids. So it's even more evil than what chubbyemu made it out to be. For context, he often changes details around slightly and adds things here and there so a case study is more suited to be in a long-form video, i.e. the hospital segment, which isn't discussed in-depth in any of the news articles I've found, with Dr. Chen (the victim, a radiologist) describing his suffering as simply "serious internal injury." I think it's quite a smart way to go about generating educational content in a way that respects privacy of the patient, because it takes a good deal more effort to dig up info on the real case than it would be if he just used their real names (he does occasionally, with permission from and in collaboration with the actual patient. See his longer video on RMC, as well as his video on toxic burn pits, they're perhaps the best examples of this). I had to go ruining his efforts, though, because the prospect of a wife poisoning her husband and possibly getting away with it was too nasty to ignore.

This reminds me of a video my anatomy teacher showed us once. It was a man that tried to kill himself by drinking drain cleaner, but he survived. It took out most of his GI tract, so any food basically went straight from entry (which I think was a port directly into what was left of his small intestines) to his colon. I remember him saying that when he ate "food" (a blended paste) he passed it through completely in like 10 minutes.

As somebody who suffered with a GI perforated ulcer in my mid 20s, the initial pain was the worst I've had, swat was poring down my face, I was chewing on the couch to try to relieve it. The pain started subsiding when the ambulance arrived, and then the same would happen ten minutes later. When the doc saw me the pain had subsided again, and because of my age assumed indigestion and prescribed omeprazole. On the way home, the pain started yet again, as the hours went by, the minutes of relief from the pain decreased until it was constant, and so painful I couldn't even cry; I was becoming tired after 12 hours and parents saw me and rushed me to the hospital. They took an x-ray and found gas in my stomach, at that point they realised I had a perforated ulcer and peritonitis, a pain I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy!

To add to this. I was a person who had chronic testicular torsions, have had multiple mouth surgeries, also take pantropazole for ulcers. The torsion I got every 6 months was painful as most would suspect but you could get in a position and avoid the pain to an extent. Mouth surgery recovery, I could actually sleep. So it would definitely also for me being that GI damage has the highest suffer rate.
