    honestly, one thing i have learned from watching all of chubbyemu's videos is: the body HATES min-maxing. a short list of things that can kill you: too much oxygen, not enough oxygen, too much water, not enough water, too much salt, not enough salt, too much exercise, not enough exercise, too much heat, not enough heat, et cetera. the human body is less of a DND character sheet and more of a tightrope balancing act. if you pour all your skill points into sodium, you will not become the god of sodium, you will just die.

    @sokin jon I do not at all understand "eating for views". In particular, Mukbang. If you're going to do something stupid, at least consider WHY it's stupid. I refuse to believe that anyone at all would possibly think "drinking a mass amount of pickle juice after eating a gallon of pickles can't be BAD for you." Drinking anything (possibly even water, but that could be wrong to be fair) of that quantity could be very dangerous. Basically, what I'm saying is... Be safe. Simple as that. If you're seeking attention online (which I must be too old to understand or something???), never endanger yourself. It is just not worth it for what, a forgetable moment of fame? There's so much better things you can do with your life. However, that's just my own opinion. If it makes you happy, so be it, just be smart about it.

    The normal effect of drinking too much salt is that it goes right through you in just a couple minutes, it's a laxative like Miralax. I think part of her problem was the mukbang caused her to resist going to the bathroom as her body called, leading it to be absorbed in the colon instead of immediately drained.

    To be fair, he said she peed multiple times. I think it's more the sheer volume of salt she consumed. If you eat a little too much you piss it all out; if you eat a LOT too much you can't piss it all out before it absorbs. She ate a gallon of pickles and drank a gallon of pickle juice.

    I ate one of those giant pickles you get out of a barrel. Like 20 minutes later I had searing pain behind my eyes. They felt sunken in and I had dark rings making me look like a raccoon. Turns out I had severe dehydration. I kept urinating every 10 minutes from the excess sodium and no matter how much water I drunk, it was just not getting better. Then had a seizure from my frontal lobe epilepsy. Had to go to the emergency room and be administered intravenous fluid. They did a CT scan and found my brain to have shrunken. Once I recovered I went back and they found that it was permanent😲 I love your videos and it's just bizarre how a pickle can do harm!

You go through the process of recovery with close attention to biochemical details, and I love that. I learn about things I’ve actually wondered about in my life. What is never addressed, unless I’ve missed a few where you have addressed it, is the psychological components that led the person to eat a gallon of of pickles, 150 melatonin gummies, a hundred franks, etc…There seems to be an underlying disorder in these cases that you never talk about it.

    Most likely sugar solution or dilute saline

  • @nocare

    @nocare

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes they use saline for two main reasons. First its much easier to flow a precise amount of a solution at larger rates than smaller ones relatively speaking. The flow error is usually a constant number, as an example +/1 0.1 ml per minute. 0.1ml of error on a ml of fluid is 10% but on 100ml of fluid its 1%. If we assume the concentration of salt in the saline is very precise and more salt means a larger volume has to be added to dilute by the same amount. You get much closer to the correct moles per hour by using larger volumes of fluid to compensate for the less precise flow rate control. After all they need to correct the hypernatremia slowly and at a very controlled rate for best results. The second reason is in how the kidneys work. The kidneys essentially take everything out of the blood except the blood cells themselves. Then as the blood plasma flows thru the various structures inside the kidney; things that need to be kept are actively and passively pumped out of the kidney and into the blood vessels flowing thru the kidney and next to the filtering structures. While waste products are left inside the now concentrated blood plasma thats left, giving the result of urine. Because of this its easier to resolve balance issues by allowing the kidneys to produce large volumes of urine that are close to the bodies current osmotic balance rather than trying to have large volumes very dilute or small volumes of very concentrated urine. If they didn't use saline the urine would be very dilute and would accelerate kidney failure. This only works because total volume is regulated as well as osmotic levels of the blood.
