This may or may not have been from personal experience. Please don't make your psyllium husk fiber into jelly. Very painful 😞

Psyllium husk fiber supplement can be part of a healthy diet, but it must be taken correctly. It has been shown to lower cholesterol levels to an extent, but is best in combination with a proper diet. Always take care to mix psyllium husk with more than enough water. It can become thick and cause problems if it isn't.

I second that. On a serious note I was not able to pee for 5 hours while my bladder was completely full and still building up. I did when I reached ER and got my vitals restored. That changed my perspective towards excretion. An essential biological process that we take so much for granted everyday at the expense of our internal organs.

I am a medical student and when I was taking General Surgery classes I entered in the OR where they were operating an old lady with dementia who had eaten like 5kg of leaves and it formed a phytobezoar, blocking her stomach completely. They had to do an incision in her stomach to take it out. Other cases of severe constipation happen often here ( South America) due megacolon secondary to Chagas disease. Due larger intestines the peristalsis is impaired and the feces form into a dry, big fecaloma that blockages the intestines completely and they have to get surgery done in some cases, to remove the fecalomas.

This video honestly hits closer to home for me than any other video I have watched from this channel. As someone with occasional digestive issues, i have probably eaten too much fiber several times before, albeit nowhere near this level of insanity. I remember once, i think i ate a ton of fruit, 2 glasses of prune juice, and a bran muffin all in the same day. Needless to say, that was a terrible idea. I remember the next day, i felt no desire to eat at all, and i felt like i was going to vomit at any moment. To make matters worse, i was traveling that day, so it was rather miserable. As for laxatives in general, i feel like caution is essential with them. Whether it is some kind of plant fiber, juice, or stool softener, know this: too much of anything is bad. I myself, was not aware until this video that an overdose of laxatives could actually constipate, but in all honesty, it makes sense, as a insoluble fiber like that is designed to bulk stools up. I appreciate that this video was made, i learned a lot from it.

This was great to know. I occasionally take MetaMucil to move things along. Especially if I'm on a high protien diet. I try my best to make sure its mixed in to the water as much as possible, but I would eat the little bits at the bottom after. I'll definitely stop doing that from now on!

It happened to me . Upper GI blockage due to Metamucil . ER docs wanted to stick an NG tube down my nose into my gut to suck the gunk out , however; I’ve had my nose broken 11 times since the 3rd grade due to sports / fights etc… Thus I have a deviated septum, and so the tube would not fit . So the surgeons took over , and one outstanding female surgeon wanted to do everything possible to avoid having to cut me open . So all night with suppository laxatives and pain relievers , and saline drips with a special drink used to ink blot areas of concern prior to X-rays packed a cleaning out punch of epic proportion’s, After a one night stay in a luxurious hospital I dodged a bullet . After two days of not eating , they fed me the best cheeseburger and jello I’ve ever had . Even the diet 7 up tasted wonderful. I was declared officially cured of a Metamucil overdose . Never again will I drink that shit .

I am one of them. 😂😂😂 Some days ago I got to know that probiotics are good for gut health. So, I took a cup of curd and added 1 cup hot milk to it. It all became curdled milk and added some chocos in it. I took it for my breakfast. After 1/2 an hour I started feeling something weird in my throat. From the evening I had high fever and started coughing. My fever remained for 5 days even I was taking a lot of medicines. Now I am not taking even a spoon of curd for probiotics. 😅😅🤣🤣😅

Instead of taking extra fiber, a little detoxifying herb , a "little" aloe or hot pepper to do extra cleanse. This is a great video, i have had trouble in the past and now we know extra fiber is not a standalone solution on its own, i remember times of extreme fatigue its like ur colon wont do anything anyways there must be other solutions.

His friend held his shit for days playing vidya, until he felt enough pain to get off and shit and would feel the urge to shit, but nothing comes out no matter how hard he tried. After the pain was unbearable that he would cry, he went to his mom and basically told her he fucked up. She took him to the hospital, and the doc got into his colon and saw a massive solidified shit. He broke it and pull it out and the kid immediately let out at least a couple weeks worth of shit that was in his guts, sighing in relief. Don't hold your shit for too long, kids.

This episode is where I get to share a gross poop story of my own. In high school, I didn't drink much water at all. Looking back, it was maybe a glass a month, with coffee being the only thing I really drank. No wonder, then, when I started having stomach cramps. The pain would come in waves, and the only solution was to wait it out. It began to get more frequent, and so we finally went to the ER. When we arrived, I got an X-ray of my abdomen. Those not familiar with the X- ray might not know this, but it is normally only used to view very solid things, like bones and joints. My stool was so compacted/dense that they could see it on the x-ray. 3 doses of miralax later and I was right as rain (sort of). It's happened 2-3 more times since then, but I've learned to deal with it. Moral of the story: drink water.

The pain traveled through my intestines and I was rolling around on the floor until finally it reached the end! After I went everything was ok. The whole thing lasted 20 minutes. I remember that I told my parents that I was constipated and they told me that if I held my poop in for two weeks they would have to bring me to the hospital. I think they were joking at the time but I was freaking out since when I had told them, it had already been three weeks and I didn’t want to say anything. It was like hell on earth and for some reason, even though my parents knew I was constipated, they never gave me any laxatives and just told me to drink more water, which didn’t help. Anyway, I pretty much lost like 20 pounds and now I probably have severe intestinal damage, plus I feel like holding your poop in for two months is gonna guarantee some kind of colon cancer 😓

  • @doubtful_seer

I’ve had chronic constipation my entire life because of being born premature. At a certain point the doctors just give up and prescribe you several types of laxatives. I’ve had times where I only go once in a month. It’s not fun and it really makes you feel awful. But unless you want surgery literally every month there’s just nothing to do but to keep taking the laxatives. The goal is to prevent a bag for as many years as possible.

Niacin overdose is SUPER uncomfortable but unless the person has underlying serious conditions, not likely to be anything but ultimately a bit embarrassing when you were crying like a scared kid at the reaction (not making fun of it, it's seriously an alarming reaction, it's like being on fire a little bit). To be fair, that's what I got told about cuts and stuff as a kid. If it hurts or itches, its healing, because the body heals itself. When I pull a muscle or something just hurts, I'll rub and jab the sore area because that's 'making it heal'. Really, I'm an adult now and I still think 'oh it hurts when I hit it, so it's getting better', I think I convinced myself as a kid that stimulation made it heal faster. Kind of struggle to see it any other way, but I know don't annoy it constantly. Maybe every few days, make sure it's still repairing.

What I'm saying is that, if you take what was previously reported and conglomerate it similar to how we can access all this information now, it still would be overshadowed by the number of reports we have now, especially when you realize that previous reports would still be spread out more (maybe 5 reports in one place, 6 in another and 2 in another, instead of today where 100s may all come from one area or source alone). Now, you can find a story like this every 4 minutes anywhere. Some of these kids really are THAT dumb and it's seemingly getting worse. I'm not saying it's all their faults, because they've been failed by their parents along with the education system over the last few decades, but it's just unreal how most of these stories aren't like backwaters hillbilly hicks who breed within the family; these are usually above-average "educated" (usually to secondary education like college) adults/young adults who either live on their own or have parents who can afford to provide for them even past being teenagers. I couldn't imagine a person like that decades ago and not immediately assume that they were either homeless or mentally ill with special care, let alone imagine them so vividly that they're a common sight.
