Really great sounding patch Tyler. A guitar playing buddy of mine has a Helix, and he's been telling me that I would love it. I was a little skeptical about whether or not I'd like it on bass. However, after hearing the tone you're getting out of it, I'm seriously considering getting one. Thanks for another awesome and helpful video.

Great stuff, I’m playing quite a bit of country/Americana right now, I was edging towards some of these settings, but as a newbie to the Stomp, this is a huge help! Thanks especially for how to reproduce that Cali76 sound, I need to get one someday but it’ll have to wait for a bit. Elephant in the room though - the Big Muff?! For a country gig?! Nice teaser bro, can’t wait to see where it fits!

Great video - thanks. I have a Cali76 Compact Bass and have just purchased an HX Stomp. I'm not clear if I really need to two sat besides each other like you have here (I also have a Nano board) or if I can simply replicate it in each patch I create (and then potentially sell the Cali). It seems that you are using it up at the front of the chain pre-HX and then having the Delux Comp on the low pass in the chain as well. 🤨

Line 6 is way too good for the money!

Good evening

I'm relatively new to the stomp coming from a sansamp bass driver deluxe. It had a dedicated "uneffected" quarter inch out to go to an amp or something. One thing I have been struggling with on the stomp is sending it back to an amp if the gig calls for it. When using the crossover function, I don't see a way to send a non-cabinetized signal to an external amp and cab. Thoughts? I may have worded this badly.

Hey Noah, It’s the send effects block that will probably help you out there, if you drop that in ahead of the crossover split and take the output from the send/return jack on the side of the unit then you should be able to take that out to the amp and have a clean signal. T

Yes, it is recommended by so many people... but there are many versions of it to consider. Tyler has a let's say full feature version, while the "bass" version has a simpler knob layout. But I'm not an expert about the cali stuff. After research I finally chose a machine from "empress" . It is the old version of the empress compressor. The big blue one in the larger housing. It is affordable and absolutely free from noise and very little to none colouring compression. Definately try this! In the meantime they made a "bass" version like cali, too but to me I prefer the "classic" every setting available knob layout....

curious why you use a compact deluxe and not a compact bass from origin?

I just prefer to have the option for full control over attack and release than the HPF option. Also makes it more widely useable on other instruments as and when I need it! Coming from (or alongside) my Cali76 TX I just didn’t see the need for the HPF, especially given I don’t use them (or even run in parallel) when using a real 1176 on bass in the studio. Not to say the bass one isn’t a good idea, but for my tastes, the deluxe format offered what I wanted! T

@@TylerSpicer i guess a separate A/R would have been nice as would have better metering (if being nit-picky). empress Compressor MKII seems to tick those boxes but I already own a Compact bass and as a compete beginner it does all I need.
