Helix Input STILL Distorting? Try This!
Музыка
In this video I show you how to reduce distortion on the input of the Line 6 Helix devices and make sure you're not clipping the input of the device.

If this helped you, let me know! T
thank you so much! it was driving me crazy. always sounding distorted on the computer. no i'ts fine!
Thank you this was a simple explanation! I have an Active Jazz Bass and the lower impedance does sound better to me and I had always left on auto before
I have to try this, thank you so much

No problem! I hope it helps! T
I have no problem with impedance. 4cm with a tube amp and guitar On Pad set to OFF so it bypass the impedance. You will feel the sound open. I was using impedance on Auto when i had a block before the fx loop and 1M when i was using only the fx loop without a pedal before. For me worked that way until i try to bypass the impedance on stomp, and niw i use it this way, bypassing the impedance. I only had problems with the Return, on 4cm you have to change it to Line cause otherwise it will clip.
Do you stick with only one bass per live show? I'm imagining switching from a passive bass to an active bass using the Stomp. Would "snapshots" be able to take care of this? (Probably). Thanks!

Hey Matt, I generally try to just stay on one bass if I can - a 5 string generally has me covered - but yes, snapshots would be ideal for that! T
Hey Tyler! Great video as ever. Helpful, cause I researched Impedance (and buffers in these days). My settup is: Bass > empress compressor (the old big blue) and then > Ampeg Scr Di > amp (and parallel to audio interface). As the first device my bass sees is the empress comp (which has 1MOhm on the input) everything that comes behind does not matter anymore, I guess!? Output of the empress is 500 Ohms btw. I never had dissues with distortion neither on the amp nor the audio interface. (It is a Squier ClassicVibe 60ies passive bass). even if I never needed it, I think its a big plus to the Helix Stomp that it allows to adjust the input impedance!!!

Hey! Thank you for the kind words! Yes, it's the first thing that your bass sees that will have the greatest effect on the character. Some pedals do prefer to have a signal hit it with a specific impedance, and that will charge the character, but worrying about it too much maybe a rabbit hole down which most of us would not want to go... It would probably drive you nuts! Thank you for watching. T
I've been disappointed with my Stomp XL because on a new setup with nothing selected ALL my passive guitars overdrive the unit. I have to play with my guitars only up about a quarter of the max. I'll try changing the input resistance as shown. Very disappointed in this device.
