Great topic! I love that there’s still stuff we can speculate about even now. Can’t help but wonder if RJ was messing with us a little on this one, but either way I am glad we have Nakomi to keep the mystery going.

I think that nakomi is suppose to be the child that Aviendha changed the name of from the future just the soul spit out by the pattern early to help Aviendha make the right decision

Not that it helps any, but someone in a facebook group posted that if you look up "nak", "o", and "mi" in the old tongue section of the Companion it comes out as Who-a-my. Who am I? The post mentioned a theory that RJ just did that to mess with people.

Ugh, I'm not going to be able to tune in to this one. We're driving down to Orlando (running the Disney half-marathon this weekend). But I'll be excited to catch up when I get back!

The simplest answer is that Nakomi is an Aiel Wise One who lives at Rhuidean full time, and has for all intents and purposes cloistered herself there away from the greater Aiel population. No doubt high-ranking Aiel Wise Ones are aware of Nakomi, and her activities in Rhuidean. Perhaps Nakomi, like Aviendha, has been through the glass columns multiple times, which would explain her knowledge of things. If she has the ability to mask her ability to channel, it's a simple matter for her to Travel to where Aviendha is and back to Rhuidean, even stopping to pick up her plate. And if she is a powerful channeler, she could be hundreds of years old. The obvious question is 'why didn't she do x, y or z during the events of the books', but perhaps she did things we never knew about. And perhaps her role is the last guardian of Rhuidean, to protect the last scraps of the Age Of Legends for the future to come. Maybe she has her eye on Aviendha to become her successor.

I thought she was Jenn Aiel or The Mother.
