Thanks for the walk through. I've never really been a fan of anything fire service related, more a steam buff. After discovering your channel, it led me down a spiral. I'd go to classic car shows and get so fascinated by the old Dennis appliances , and over the past couple of months been watching the entirety of London's Burning, just understanding how the machines work & the show covering the social life of a fire station. I'm currently torn between wanting to be a firefighter, or owning a fire engine for the fun of it. There's just nothing like those two tones!

Hi Lawrie, I believe you mentioned the high/low pressure selector? This is used depending on whether you are using the hose reels or the main jet. The hose reels can be used at both high and low pressure (usually high) the main jets should only ever used at low pressure. Hope this helps 👍

Jupiter really is a nice truck and great to see that kinda stuff restored. Have you ever considered going to a show/festival or event close or even off one of the departments where it was stationed and meeting some of the guys who used it in service? That usually results in great stories. I'd really hope my fire department keeps the old Mercedes long enough so i can buy it from them. it's a nearly 40 year old engine and just magnificent too. You're definitely not the only one crazy enough to buy an old fire engine. If I could i would invite you to review it whilst it is still in service, but sadly i can't do that. Just recently been "restored" (mainly derusted, altough there really wasn't much). And most likely a completely different driving experience. Like Jupiter it''s a 12t truck, but a heavier chassis and offroad configuration. I can just about lay my chin on the fenders. Hpwever, Jupiter even carries a tad more water. Space wonder you got there Lawrie! Ahh I really want you to drive it and experience it for yourself. Such a joy. If I ever get to buy it, your definitely invited! I could talk about it for hours!

The board that you said was to see where everything is on the truck, it is an accountability board used at scenes to tell you where everyone is. (it could be different but that's how i see it as from the us lol) Also, when you said there is no reason for a 40 year old fire engine still kicking around was funny to me because a few years ago I saw just about a 100 year old fire engine that can still be driven.

    - low and high pressure, low pressure is for just using ‘large’ hose out the back of the pump deliveries, high pressure engages the 2nd impeller in the pump for the hose reels to work properly (some hose reels won’t work if high pressure isn’t engaged or you’ll just get a dribble of water). When you do get it pumping if you’re only using the main deliveries (large hose) then keep it in low pressure otherwise you’ll be over working the pump. Also stick a cooling loop in if you haven’t got a water supply going into the pump
