She would flower in Florida, because the woman who sent it to me lived there and it flowered for her. She told me that if I can flower imperialis, I can flower obtusifolia, but obviously not.

Hoyas are my favorite and there is no one else I trust more than Doug to get actual quality information on Hoyas. You're awesome sir! How are you going to go about selling your cuttings? I would be so interested in purchasing some when the time comes. Could you recommend a good place to buy Hoya cuttings/ plants? Love your videos, wish you made more.

Nonsense, I wouldn’t be able to grow Hoyas and experience this joy in my life without your videos. Thank you For all that you do. I was thinking about your current dilemma and I am pretty sure the problem maybe not enough red spectrum light. You have the high pressure sodium light that you could put it under? Also, if that isn’t the problem maybe it needs either green spectrum from the sun or UV from the sun. Some new research is suggesting the importance of green spectrum for some plants, which is lacking in most grow lights

@@jakerbabs That is a good thought Jacob, and one that I've had myself. There is something that this plant needs to flower, and I can't quite figure it out. It obviously is missing something that the imperialis, its tent mate, doesn't need to flower. It could be the light spectrum isn't quite right, the pH of the soil is not to its liking, or it doesn't get enough co2. We will see what happens outside this summer, but I really think that it can't come back in as it is just too big.

@@jakerbabs I have not used HPS on this particular plant. I have used these bulbs in the past and they scare me because of how hot they get. I'm not only afraid of a fire, but they just make the tent too hot.

Doug that is one fantastic video! I would dearly love to buy a cutting from you if and when you offer them! Can I ask what kind of trays you have under your plants? They look great!

Doug, can you please do a video on how to bring Hoyas outdoor for the summer… How to keep them healthy and growing outdoors, how much to water them, what to watch out for… I keep my hoyas in normal home humidity most of the year, so the only chance I have to get some growth on them is outside during warm months. I live in northern ca, not sure f there are regional differences that need to be covered 🤷🏻‍♀️

Its amazing this hoya imperialis. And your right hoya obtusifolia is very Tricky but dont give up. The key to flower is heat and lots of humidity

The problem is I don't have any more heat or humidity to throw at it. I think it behaves more like a eriostemma, which I have never had any luck with. BTW, my AH Hoya order is supposed to be delivered today. I will let you know how they arrive.

Hi... I love hoyas too and I live in Santa Rosa California..... and I just found you !!! Do you still have cuttings of the second Hoya with those big flowers? The Palawan ? What do your cuttings cost and for shipping? Also have you ever tried to give your first Hoya any bloom fertilizer? I’d try that if I were you... just to see... I’ve only grown the Hoya variegated carnosa n they’re beautiful ...thanks for sharing your videos... hope you still have cuttings left..

Hi Doug! Wonderful videos! Question on your imperalis! I am still getting ‘to know’ mine (has it for 9+ months), and am struggling a bit more than others. I’m guessing that’s the leap to the “big hoyas”? It will put out a couple great leaves for me, then suddenly the next leaf goes immediately yellow before it can even form and sometimes this has affects the stem. Any ideas? Very chunky mix, good light + humidity. Hmmm... thanks in advance!

Hi Britt, it sounds like you are doing everything right. I would guess that you have one of the harder to grow clones. Not all imperialis are created alike. Some are very difficult to grow. I've been struggling with the white flowered imperialis for years. Don't blame yourself. You could try mixing in a little ground oyster shell into the top of 1/2 inch of your soil as imperialis seem to like it

I would be interested in a cutting of the Imperialis Palawan.

I'm afraid that there has been far too much interest in this plant, and I can't possibly meet the demand. I might be able to get 15 cuttings out of it and there has already been like 30 requests. It is however readily available here: ahhoya.com/

About how long does it take for a Hoya to bud once it forms a pinnacle/peduncle?

Right now, I would have to say that I am over extended on this plant. I might be able to squeeze 17 cuttings out of it and have requests for probably 30 so I'm afraid that there will be a number of disappointed people. As far as selling, I occasionally put up a plant on eBay, and send out a cutting list to a few people.
