    Hi Zen. It's an interesting concept to multiply the motor/head units to increase output. There seem to be a lot of brand names that utilize similar units. It's a very clever Chinese concept. Cheers Rob

    10 dB is human perception 1/2 or double (depending upon direction of the sign) because human hearing is perceived logarithmically, the actual power multiplier is 1/10th or 10 times (again depending upon the dB polarity) and the sound pressure amplitude is square_root(10), so either 3.16 or 1/3.16. (Polarity of the dB reference)… point being is it’s even better on your ears than a psychoacoustic doubling (perceived) might imply

    Thanks for the review Rob. This would come in real handy for blowing out accumulated dust in my PC cases. It sure beats connecting a 50-metre hose to the compressor in my garage and then dragging the hose through the house. I'm sure I'll think of many other uses for something that portable. Time to visit the Vevor site (again!).

    Hi Laz. It would be a good unit for PC's for sure being oil less and portable. What I used for blowing out PC cases was an old 8 kg LPG cylinder as a "bucket of air". Pressurise it off the big comp and it lasts for quite a while. It can also be used to increase the receiver capacity of any compressor, and to blow up tyres. LPG cylinders are tested at over 300 psi, so quite safe. Cheers Rob

    G'day Rob, nice review so I bought one!😄 Like you I have a big one (twin cylinder) in the garage but I also have an older GMC 25 litre diaphragm pump unit in my other shed, which I use for powder coating, spray painting, blowing stuff out etc. The main manifold split some time ago (cheap pot metal casting) so I had to cobble up a replacement but it works ok. Biggest problem is the noise, as you no doubt know, even when it's outside it's bloody noisy and makes me jump when it cuts in! This looks like a much better option, quiet and portable and more than adequate for the listed uses. I think I'll dismantle the GMC, save the fittings, keep the tank and probably melt down the motor.😁 I also have a couple of airbrush compressors (one has a tank) but they are only good for airbrushes. I wasn't aware such a size as this existed, so thanks for pointing it out. It was only going to cost about $30 more (!) to get their 25 litre version but then I would lose the portability so got the "little" one. I ordered it through Amazon for $192 delivered, should be here in a few days. Cheers, Richard.

    Hi Richard. A lot of those noisy direct drive GMC type compressors split or snap off the pot metal tank union. It's a very piss poor design. The Vevor is massively better in that area. I stripped a junked GMC same as yours thinking the tank would be good for making a gas fired furnace for metal casting. LOL. The metal was so thin and high carbon that it was virtually unweldable with stick, definitely needed MIG and even then it would be tricky. I used an 8 kg LPG cylinder instead with stick no problem. Can't beat the price, especially when you compare the Vevor to other offerings. I think it's a great unit, which can easily be hooked to a remote tank for extra capacity, yet still allow portability. Once again, I use an old LPG cylinder for just that and as a "bucket of air". You could easily rig up the old GMC tank as a remote unit, it even has a drain cock. Cheers Rob

    @@Xynudu Yep, I thought I might use the tank as an extra air storage, I also used a gas bottle for my little foundry (I've just converted the burner to a blower type, be interesting to see how it goes). I've stripped the GMC, just have to clean off the oil from the ally and break it up into bite-size bits. Added the copper windings to my box of copper and the bearings still look good so they went into my bearing stash. Just been advised that it's been shipped, might even get it by the weekend.

LOL YT does some weird things at times. Anyway, I recall your vintage comp, but didn't know you had a GMC and airbrush unit. I did look into airbrush at one stage and most people said they were pretty limited on what they could do (I think you were one of them). Cheers Rob

    Hi Derek. I have never used airbrush, but looked into them a while back to spray model engines with enamel. They seem to be fairly light duty units and require very thin paint. I got negative comments about them from some people. A unit like the Vevor should be a capable unit for most light spray duties. Cheers Rob

    I have similar to this but with two motors. And recently one of the motors, for no reason burned it's windings. I am not sure if it's the same manufacturer (a lot of compressors look similar or almost identical except the colors). But that was really annoying especially when that compressor wasn't used that much.

    Hi Rob. I have recently bought a similar compressor with the same twin compressor unit. I noticed this morning that when it’s pumping, air is being blown out of the small inlet hole in the filter. I wondered if yours does the same. Doesn’t seem right. ?

  • @Xynudu

    @Xynudu

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Peter, I'm not quite with you. Inlet hole ? There is a drain hole in the filter bowl bottom and that can leak a bit until the valve seats properly - just wiggle the pipe a bit with your finger to seat it. More info please. Cheers Rob

  • @peterfarmer1592

    @peterfarmer1592

    Many thanks for your reply Rob. It’s the grommeted hole in the noise suppressor which I thought was the inlet hole and as I can’t see any other way for the air to get into the noise suppressor that’s what it must be and that’s where air is being pumped out. Must be a leaking valve in the compressor. If i put my hand in front of that hole I can feel air being pulsed out. Perhaps it will improve in time. I just wondered if yours was the same. ?

  • @Xynudu

    @Xynudu

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Peter, mine is the same. The volume of air being ejected is quite small though. If I put my finger near the inlet hole it gets sucked onto it, which is what should happen if it's compressing/sucking in air OK. The air being ejected could just be air "bounce" from the linked cylinders. If it's pumping up at the same speed as mine then it's nothing to worry about. Cheers Rob

    Yes, one less contaminant to deal with. Service wise there's really very little difference between types as compressor oil only needs a check and small top up once a year. The oil vapor actually reduces tank rusting, so it's got it's positive side. Cheers Rob

    @@Xynudu yep we use them on CO2 laser cutters at work and I use one at home for, respirator when spraying, also connect it to the nitrogen dump on the O2 concentrator and pump up my stout tap for creamy beer, also connect it to the O2 side and pump up my other tank for LPG/O2 brazing. I do have a dryer, that solved lots of problems. It's worth getting a replacement seal kit as these compressors chew them out if they run hot (long).
