Hi Boss, and thank you 😊 As you know, I like going into what the physical differences are between these guns as well as performance, part of my engineering background, I guess 😅 It's the sort of thing I would want to know before buying something, so I'm always looking at it from the guy or girl buying these things point of view, certainly with the R500 and YT160 the manufacturers figures given are way out, essentially they have the same air consumption although the claim is one uses 3 time more than the other. Appreciate it as always, buddy 🙏

Very informative video. The price difference between the Iwata and the likes of the R500 is massive though. I got an R500 recently as a primer gun and I'm knocked out by it. At the price point the results are amazing and it's far better than my previous LVLP gun at transferring material effectively.

Hi Angus, Yes, I agree there is now a huge price difference between the Iwata and the rest. I was trying to illustrate a few things. First was the air consumption that varies widely in the promotional literature, is, in fact, all wrong, they, as you can see, all consumption more or less the same. The second point was trying to show that if you are prepared to buy a quality gun, you can in fact us less air than these so called LVLP guns, the fact that they need 2.5 bar to operate at the same level that the Kiwami4 does, people are guided towards these by claims of low air consumption which to a degree is correct but you can get better results with lower air consumption from a mainstream gun. Glad you enjoyed the video, I actually rate the R500 higher for HB primer in 1.8 than the Kiwami4 BA4J, its base and clear in the 1.4 and 1.3 range that the Kiwami4 BA4J in superior, cheers mate, appreciate the comments 👍

Really good test Pete. I have the R500 and the A610. The R500 sprays pretty good if you crank up the pressure. I dont care for the A610. The best gun I have is my Bellaria. Sprays metallics with ease at around 1.5 bar and my MS clear a little higher at 1.7-1.8 bar so I reckon it probably uses less air than the R500's. Its my go to gun these days because its so easy to get good results and I like that it has no seals to wear out. I also like my FLG5. I really love my NTools 4000B. Its sprays beautiful and has a nice pattern but it likes the air and my current air supply cant keep up. I woud love to see you revisit it and maybe compare it to others spraying on fenders. Cheers

Hi Mate, you have reinforced what I was trying to get over about these gun, they do offer excellent value for money but aren't particularly LV, which is what they are sold as. Because you need to use these around 2.5 bar so 26psi to get a reasonable finish, it's using more air than a Bellaria or Kiwami4, so it is less suitable for smaller compressors. I haven't used the Ntools 4000B much in comparisons of the more affordable guns, that simply because it does use more air, around 12 cfm at 29psi, so I'm trying to compare similar if that makes sense but rest assured, it will be out in future videos. Cheers buddy, hope alls well 👍

Great video Pete with lots of good and reliable info, I got my Rongpeng R500 from ali along with all the available tip sets after seeing a few good reviews on it and while it sprays WoW primer and basecoat really well I was disappointed with the clearcoat results as it was quite peeley but didn't know at the time that it needed more air pressure, I keep meaning to try it at 2.5bar which I will do at some point👍 As for the air consumption the stated figures are way out as like you I could tell by the sound of it and how soon the compressor cut in that it's far higher than the 4CFM that was in the listing for the gun, it's similar to my GTI ProLite🙄🤭 Thanks Pete👍

Hi John, Yes, very odd. These 3 Chinese guns are all the same in air consumption, but the figures given are between 4 & 12 cfm! The reality is they are in the middle 🤣. Give yours a try at 2.5 to 2.7 bar for clear, and the results aren't too bad considering the guns cost 40GBP all in. Thanks, mate. I appreciate it as always 👍 PS, can you send me another Fuji as I managed to flog yours pretty easily 🤣😅😉

Yeah I don't know why they don't get their figures correct as all they are doing is making a bad name for themselves where people buy these guns expecting them to work on small compressors but they don't, they probably give them a bad review then send them back🤦‍♂🙄 I'll try mine again mate at a higher pressure, I hope it is better as it's not a bad gun otherwise👍 Hope you got a good price for my MP-V8 Pete, I'm sure it's worth about £10, I'll get the other one packed up then send it out to you mate...... NOT!!! 🖕🖕😝🤣 Cheers Pete👍

Hi mate, that doesn't surprise me, so they are effectively exactly the same guns apart from the colour 👍 I actually prefer the A610 original version for some clear coats. The smaller wetter patern speeds it up nicely, not so forgiving for newer painters, though, and it does depend on the clear coat. Thanks, buddy 👍

Hi Mate, their figures are all over the place , in reality all three of these Chinese guns are the same, which is around 7.5cfm at 29psi so 215ltpm at 2bar, however, to get good results you need to use these, for clear coat around 2.5 bar so they will use around 270ltpm, those are my guess as I have no way of measuring it but having used lot of different guns it's a pretty good guess, hope that helps 👍

Hello mate, r500 is rated as a 2.8-4cfm lvlp, your compressor, i believe is a hvlp minimum (7-12cfm), i asked because i am in a hunt for a compressor, and a 90l for 25s, i can estimate how long a 50-60l can last. They say the size of a hose can alter you psi.... But that is another story..... Thanks Mate!

I'm a hobbyist, and your compressor is like for a pro level, initially i was looking at a 24l 2hp 7cfm (for a beginner), but then it will only take +- 7s (might take longer when compressor is running :) ) So the hunt is for a 50-60l.... For motorcycle fairings

Hi Buddy, The R500 is nothing like 2.8 to 4 cfm, I know the specs say that but it's not true, that was the reason for making this video. At 29psi so 2 bar, I estimate the R500 uses around 6.5 to 7 cfm, at 2.5 bar, where it needs to be for clear coat for a good finish, it's more like 8 to 8.5 cfm.

The tank size is just a reserve. The output CFM is more important . Definitely look for a 50L tank and something around 9 to 10 cfm to use these guns. They really do use much more air than is quoted 👍
