My Mum had three sons and she worried about us all the time and she would say to us as young boys. "Don't do anything that would make you afraid to come home." God rest you Ma.

since losing my mum, this song really hits a special place, beautiful track

Just noticed, the bass playing on this one is wonderful... Have heard the song many times, but had never really noticed how intricate and excellent the bass part is.

The best Skynyrd songs are the ones that were inspired by true life experiences of the band members. They had some hits that were written by others but those are usually forgotten because there just isn't the passion that Ronnie put into their signature ballads. I call them ballads because under all the great guitar, piano and drum work there lies a message and passion.

Shinedown has a cover where they just go ham on the vocals and it is awesome, but I prefer the original, because the vocals of the original better fit the theme of simplicity. But Shinedown's cover is very pleasing to the ears.
