    Hello again Sam, You have done it once again mate, I really enjoy the Tank Engine Running Session and I'm very glad to see the Hornby GNR J13 running, I still cannot wait for the review. My favorite is the LNWR Coal Tank Locomotive, they are one of the best tank engines in Great Britain, I've seen 1054 a few times, the first time at the Llangollen Railway in North Wales in April 2012 in her BR Black livery as 58926, the second time at the Severn Valley Railway in March 2015 and the third time at Tyseley Locomotive Works in Birmingham in October 2015. 1054 was built in Crewe in September 1888 and will be 130 years old by September 2018. Once again, fantastic running session. 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 10/10

    A nice little running session, the only other locomotives I can think of that are in LBSC livery are the dapol terriers. I also like seeing small trains on the railway, especially on the inner line as the single track gives it a branch line feel. Keep the faith - callum

May I suggest maybe you could set up a small round track and use it for running in your new locos It's what I do and it really helps. Anyway great video Sam keep up the great work.

    Hi Sam, loved the vid. Favourate was the 72xx (natch). OK useless information time, the Webb Coal tanks were a result of the LNWR reaching South Wales by taking over the Merthyr, Tredegar and Abergavenny Railway in 1862. It was a very steeply graded route and the LNWR discovered that their normal locomotives struggled on the hills. Now the other Walsh lines, like the Taff Vale and the Neath and Brecon for example favoured the 0-6-2T types for both goods and passenger traffic (with the smoke box end always facing up the valley), so taking a leaf from the other companies book they developed the coal tank from the older 0-6-0 tender design mainly for the MTAR route and a few branches they also had in the area, but the design proved so useful they ended up all over the LNWR system, from Cumbria to London. There was even 0-8-2T and 0-8-4T versions built (classes 1185 and 380) but in far fewer numbers. They would make nice models. As for LBSCR locos in Umber, Dunno of any you haven;t got, but a few years ago Bachmann announced they were going to produce a model of the Marsh Class H2 Atlantic 4-4-2 in a number of liveries including LBSCR umber, SR Green and BR lined Black, but as of yet no such model has appeared. I do hope it does get released in the end (Maybe in a year or two when the replica that is currently under construction on the Bluebell is finally finished.) cos I think the Marsh H2 is one of the most beautiful machines ever made - and thats coming from a self confessed GWR worshipper!! Anyway, have a great week. Jon

    Thanks Jon - ooh yes the 72xx of course! Thanks very much for the info - and blimey yeah I'd love an Atlantic in the LBSC - that would be amazing!! All the info was very much appreciated too, Cheers mate, Sam :)

    Did a bit more digging into the planned LBSC H2 from Bachmann, There is a new release date on their website for March / April 2018, but at the moment they are only talking about SR green and BR lined Black liveries, not the LBSC Umber, but any H2 is better than none in my book, and we can live in hope that the LBSC livery will follow. Jon

  • @TomDavias
    @TomDavias6 жыл бұрын

    Definitely love the LBSC livery and models, I have the E4, E3, & 0-4-0 models, there's also a Dapol LBSC terrier model out there (I don't have one) The only other closest models are the Bachmann 0-6-0 SE&CR, Hornby Terrier SE&CR & (later release this year) Hornby Wainwright H Class SE&CR. I hope to collect the Hornby SE&CR models at some point as I adore their green liveries

    Nice little sesh, Mr Sam. I do have a minor gripe about liveries... :) In the L1 livery poll, I was like "BR green?" (thinking of brunswick green, which you automatically think of)... perhaps 'very early BR green', or 'BR apple green' would've been better? LMS locos and rolling stock ran in crimson lake (maroon being the BR variation of the shade, after they found crimson/cream to be high maintenance - in terms of keeping clean). Lastly, the LB&SCR livery is actually umber, not brown... 😂 For LB&SCR locos I'd love there to be a RTR I3 4-4-2T, or K class 2-6-0. Both are handsome looking engines in their own right and were pretty good runners. Keep at it! 👍

    LNER L1 #9003 was built at Darlington Works on February 6th, 1948 (shouldn't this baby already be in an Early BR livery?) It was later renumbered to 67704 and served BR until it's withdrawl on November 11th, 1960. It was cut up at Darlington Works on February 28th, 1961 at the young age of 13.

    Hi Sam, Seeing the L1 reminded me again of Australian Tank engines, but I ended up finding some other Australian model engines. The only problem I seem to run into is the cost of these locos, but still it's nice to read about the history of steam in countries other than England and the USA. I finally found a model of one of my favourite locos but it seems to be well out of my budget: eurekamodels.com.au/Garratt.html Love the videos Sam, keep it up!

    On the subject of a sequel, perhaps these six tank engines would come in handy: a Standard 4 2-6-4 Tank Engine (if you've got one), the GWR 2-6-2 Large Prairie Tank Engine 61xx, the 0-4-2 Auto Tank Engine 1466, the 0-6-0 E2 Tank Engine, the 0-6-0 Pannier Tank Engine and the smaller 0-4-0 Caledonian Saddle Tank Engine. I'd like to see this line-up of six very much, that is if no-one else objects. You are very knowledgeable in the history of your models, I'll give you full marks for that.
