A surprise run in with a familiar Ural Motorcycle !
On a scenic drive towards Dingle, I chanced upon a unique sight at Inch Beach - a Ural with a sidecar that I instantly recognized from Instagram! It belonged to the one and only Michael Walsh ( / michael_bur_walsh on instagram). Michael recognised myself and Daisy and we chat about our bikes, including all about his 2008 Ural, and previous Dnepr K75 and Royal Enfield Classic 500.
Full videos from my recent Wild West Ireland tour will be coming soon (probably next weekend), so stay tuned! And thanks again Michael for the chat and look at your Ural!

Nice to see the campsite we stayed at with Janner Fox and brother Pete. Also had nice fish and chips from the wagon you parked by 😋 What a lovely meeting and chat 🙂👍🏼
Michael sure has a classy ride 😅. I'm not personally a side car guy but I can appreciate the classic looks 😁
Incredible aren’t they, but so expensive to buy😕 Daisy is just amazing 😊
Poor Daisy being referred to as it!! Yule rue that I bet🤭 What a nice man Michael is! Very approachable.

🙊 She certainly made complaints, in her own way, about that by the time I got back to Kilkenny 😅 Indeed!
Ooh I think I need to get a white silk scarf :) v stylish :) I would like an Ural too. It's great to catch up with folk on the road and have a good blether :)

thats true - apart from that, you don't have to worry as much about ice and snow as if you had a normal 2 wheel bike so you can enjoy bike riding all year through. Travelling is a bit slower in general though and riding a sidecar bike has its very own physics one has to get used to first (some of them potentially dangerous if you are not aware of them)

Very suited to these types of bikes, and in our part of the world's unpredictably cold weather, could be a functional piece of fashion too 😁
Ural and RE Bullet - If I wouldn't already own one of each, I'd have to get one now

For sure. A great pair of bikes to have in the stable, and probably my favourite two 😁
The place you met the Ural was out side the campsite we stayed with Saddlebags73 and Mark the most wanted. Nice video.

Thought it looked a bit familiar! 😁 Think I crossed paths with a few of the roads Saddlebags took on his trip.
Will Ireland and the U K let you take a left hand drive Ural on your right hand drive roads?? Cool video!! My 2 favorite bikes

Michael seems to have no issue with it 😁 I think dealers would always import them the 'correct' way around for our roads, but I have seen people travelling from France to Ireland with sidecars on the 'wrong' side. Suppose you just need to take extra care is all!
Could be mistaken, but I think I passed this sidecar near a rainy Mizen HD this day last week

Very possible, as I think he was around these parts for a while
Do Urals have two wheel drive and a diff, or am I thinking of another combo?

Some are rear wheel only and some also have a driven sidecar wheel which is engaged for off road or snow.

Dnjepr made a model with a permanent 2 wheel drive and differential if I am not mistaken. Urals are either without 2WD (model "ct" and "retro" ) or with a 2WD that can be put in if needed (gear up). Usually you would use it only occasionally if stuck in mud or so because its without a differential so getting it around corners on the street becomes a real challenge and you only wear down yourself and your bike for no benefit.

@@JosipRadnik1 Two wheel drive without a differential sounds like a physical workout.

@@borderlands6606 My Ural doesn't have 2WD but judging from the handling of mine I can only imagine that trying to get 2 simultanously driven wheels to make a turn on paved roads with the help of just one front wheel must feel like trying to lead a rhino by a dog leash.
