A Small Clock Collection

A few old clocks I've collected in recent times. Most are around 100 years or more old. The smaller, so-called "novelty clocks" at the end of this video are likely from the mid-20th century. The last one in this video, while clearly the weirdest, is likely the least aged, running on AC electricity and probably from the late 40s or early 50s.

I replaced the chimes with another set....still not perfect, but better.

The chime on the red clock is diffrent

The gong has since been changed for another. What was wrong with it, specifically?

Chine is more in tune I say it better now

If the hammer is to close to the gong, it will make an unattractive sound instead of the nice full gong

Yes, quite true, it's a delicate balance. I have since found, with this particular clock, that the joins between the panels of the case had become loose with age, causing the gong to gradually change its position in relation to the hammer. These joins have since been tightened up, and it now is much more consistent. You learn all the time, working on these things.
