Bill and his clock collection | Local Focus

His clock collection is so big, he's created a museum for the public to view by appointment, in an old 19th century church.
Made with funding from NZ On Air.

I have an affinity for mechanical clocks also. I don't have a massive collection, but I too enjoy watching the workings of a mechanical piece. I've got a Grandfather that I really like, a Cuckoo clock with dancers and music, and most recently, a Torsion (anniversary) clock. Battery clocks don't have a soul.... ha ha.

More than 1000 times as much as mine and those of most collectors... I have around 40 clocks, 35 of them being cuckoo clocks after in 2009 I got an addiction to them after watching the Peppa Pig episode. Bill's collection would be worth absolutely MILLIONS!!!! Mine'd only be worth a few thousand. Not all of my clocks are that rare but some of them are. Namely 3 Gordian Hettich Sohn cuckoo clocks, a 1907 Gebruder Kuner cuckoo quail, a so-called "fretwork" cuckoo clock(not a Romba clock, an around 80-year-old clock, likely older, manufacturer unknown), a Schmeckenbecher bird cage, a Seiko RE504B Puppet(Common in Japan because they were only marketed for Japan, they are rare overseas, mine came from Walsall), a old 1960's Rombach & Haas cuckoo clock with a proper 2-song-36-teeth shifting cylinder reuge music box(that does a complete turn of the cylinder then shifts sideways to play another song), a special Lotscher cuckoo-like clock(but it's not) that I'll only reveal in a future KZread video of mine(it is a rare clock, that's all I'll say), and so on. My collection is in storage right now with a Widdop and Bingham quartz cuckoo clock and 3 dismantled old cuckoo clocks(one of the GHS's is one of them) being the only ones not. I miss my collection a lot and hope to go back to collecting once I have a proper house with a big field(which I'll probably never get because of the toxic essential-only culture putting legal and financial limits on single people like me) or something like that.
