Such a great show, but it really began to decline when celebrities and drag queens started knocking on the Bunkers’ door. Not that those episodes were less than entertaining, but the scenarios seemed shoehorned into the Bunker story and it got a little far-fetched. Seeing Sammy in this is amazing, though. One of the greatest flat-out entertainers of his day, along with Frank, Dean, Judy, and Tony Bennett.

here after hearing norm macdonald based his stage persona on archie bunker (revealed by harland williams). Cant unsee it now, that "i was always dead set against slavery" delivery!

The irony of all this is that there aren't many (none?) black Americans today that would go back to live in Africa.

Classic television, when people understood comedy and weren't offended by actors playing fictional characters.

Sammy making jokes about slavery considering the fact that MOST of the slave owners were JEWISH, Sammy's adopted religion. Supposedly the Jews were the ones that got the slaves from Africa...

Grandpa Bal, I don’t know if you’re still active on here, but I miss you. We used to chat on The 10/6 Cafe forum for a few years, and you were one of the most interesting people I had ever met. I just had a colonoscopy, so seeing this was perfect.

I first saw this back in the early '90s when the Learning Channel used to host a yearly "Phenomethon" week (like Shark Week) of programming such as this. I was GLUED to the TV during the Phenomethon. This one had me giggling and thinking EXACTLY what you describe above. I've spent YEARS looking for this again. I owe you much. Thank you.
