In the past year and a half I’ve learned a hard lesson due to not slowing down and taking time to eat healthy foods, exercise, and take my mental and emotional health into consideration. I tend to push full speed through a crisis of any sort and that didn’t work when that crisis lasts for over a year. So, I’ve given notice at my job and am taking a few months off to heal before finding a new direction. Taking care of our bodies and minds is not something we practice well in America. People are generally either crazy into fitness and nutrition or completely ignore it. And forget mental health... so many I know just go home after work and drink alcohol to wind down. I don’t feel as a people, we exercise moderation or enjoy quiet self-reflection. We glorify being busy and making money. I am thankful that I can tighten the purse strings and learn to relax again. At least I’m going to try with all my being.

Did you hear what you said there? “I will try with all my being” to relax! I am not criticizing, it sounds like something I would say. When Yoda said there is no try, only do or not do, let’s together pick “not do” for a change. Best of luck to both of us 😊

I went through a similar experience in 2012 and decided to take a different path with my life. My husband and kids were in agreement and we started a new way of living, slowly, one thing at a time. We "went frugal" and started paring back the bills and paying off debt. We scaled back on many things. I started making many of our household products (cooking more from scratch and making things like cleaners, body products, etc.) and using up the bits and pieces of things like shampoo, lotions, make-up, etc. before buying more. We cut our cable and bought a Roku (back when nobody had heard of them, lol). I studied frugality and sustainability like a college course. We began shopping farm markets, then gardening, then got into other farming practices. I became interested in herbal medicine, dabbled a bit, then earned a clinical certification. All this to say that I agree with what you said, many Americans put the dollar (and/or what it buys) as king and ignore our health (physical, mental, and spiritual). It is possible to get off the beaten path and take 'the road less traveled" because I (and my family) have done it and are leading a more fulfilling life as a result. Best wishes on your journey and God bless!

Since I was so busy helping others I was rarely home until Covid hit. I then realized my house was not nurturing because it had been neglected. I’ve worked on the inside but now that the weather is better I’m working on the outside. Today I really needed this video. I had planned a second day of painting trim and other big physically hard projects. I’m still tired and sore from yesterday. I’ve changed my mind and decided instead to do the smaller things that are still important but more enjoyable (and less physically taxing). Thanks for the attitude adjustment😁 I’m glad I watched in the morning instead of at my usual reward for hard work time.💜

I used to put a lot of pressure on myself at work to impress everyone else, but I would always end up feeling unappreciated. Now, I only work hard because it makes me feel good to know I've done my best - even if my best is not perfect. I don't expect praise anymore, only self-satisfaction from my efforts. This has taken a ton of pressure off my shoulders and decreased the amount of disappointment I used to feel when no one seemed to notice when I went out of my way to make something happen, or get it done. It may sound a little sad, but I reckon it's a more realistic outlook (I'm sure not all people mean to overlook your efforts, or deliberatly unappreciate your work) and it has certainly helped me to think about what I'm doing a bit more positively. Still learning every day though and that's okay too.

Your comments about the Irish weather reminded me of my family’s Irish holiday years ago. We were walking in Killarney Park and the sky suddenly clouded over and the rain poured down on us, soaking us completely! A friendly staff member walked by us with “Welcome to summer in Ireland!” 10 minutes later the sun was shining again, we bundled ourselves into the back of a horse-drawn wagon under thick blankets, and carried on with a delightful tour of the park. I’ve never forgotten that day!

I have a large garden area around my yard. The one plant doing the absolute best is my hydrangea. Everything else is smaller and less developed than it should be. But I planted the hydrangea in the grass... dug a whole, poured some water in, planted it and it's beautiful. I have to work on my soil in all the gardens next spring. I managed to kill spinach, a few pepper, squash and tomato plants this year. In another video, you said you just enjoy the veggies that grew so I have adopted that attitude this year. I'm sure next year will be better. Question? What is the pink flowered plant you were replanting?

I just happened upon your page while looking for anything that was not about what we have and are going through. It really took a toll on my physical and mental health so things like watching and listening to you and gardening was like a cure-all for me. I also garden and it has always taken me to a wonderful place. It reminds me of my most favorite time back in the 60's and 70's when we really were about Peace and Love for the most part. Mostly we did pulled together as one. I think we will get back to that sooner than later. Anyway thank you for the wonderful reminder and break from the craziness.

I can relate to the “I wil only attempt to do something when I know I will be able to do it perfectly.” Which completely contradicts the saying “practice makes perfect”. I don’t strive for perfection anymore as it made me unhappy. I now, like you, enjoy the process and the uncertainty of the outcome, while still trying to do my best. I find that it takes the pressure off. And that is an amazing thing. Thank you for another relaxing and helpful video! 🌺🌱☀️

Bonjour from Quebec. It's raining today and after working on the potager and flower beds all week, I am giving myself this day off to rest a bit. I find I get tired a lot quicker after this past year; all the uncertainties ans anxieties of the pandemic seem to have finally gotten to me. I'm certain I'm not the only one feeling this fatigue and believe we all apreciate hearing your wonderfully calm voice. Thank you.

Somehow I thought you needed comfort from the vibe I got from this week’s video. I am sending a big virtual hug in case you want and need it. Your video is inspiring and soothing as usual. I will now go straight to my garden. I have two hydrangeas that were too bullied by non-stinging, beautiful purple nettle growing around them to the point where I couldn’t see them anymore. I used the surrounding nettle for herb tea and now I think that I can rescue them both but they look very small and brittle. Let’s see. Love 💕 from Vienna.

I can almost smell the damp earth in this video ❤ That looked like an azalea. Funny here where I live they need afternoon shade or they cook in the heat. I love gardening. Watching the seedings grow. Watching the garden grow. Watching life move on while I stay in my little space and watch clouds. Thank you for this week's glimpse

Last year we planted our vegetable garden too early. We've had a garden for years and it was a rookie mistake... and we lost every plant. But, we started again and had a wonderful crop. I have a strong tendency towards perfectionism, but have worked very hard to move away from this all or nothing thought process. If it helps anyone, growing older helps tremendously😉

Gardening is an intuitive process and the joy is discovering what works and what doesn't during that process. Nature has an inner wisdom about what works and acts accordingly. It teaches us patience and letting go as well as non-attachment to outcome. You certainly have enjoyed creating your beautiful garden with its starry coasters, fairy cottages, and other magical touches. Thanks for sharing! Jenny

Your beautiful video made me cry. I'm the same way. Never wanting to try anything that I thought I might be terrible at or I might make a mistake with. Avoiding some wonderful, fun, and amazing experiences because of fear of failure. You're so right. It's been such a lonely, lonely, painful part of my life. You've inspired me to make an effort to let this go and do more of what makes me happy. Thank you so so much. Your videos are incredibly special and I'm so grateful for you and your channel. Today is my 48th birthday and your words made a fantastic day even better. Thank you! xoxo :D

I am eager to see each new video you post! Thank you for taking the time to capture your thoughts and beautiful yet humble imagery to reflect them. You are a lovely soul. I love your Mother's coasters. They have found the perfect spot in your garden! I have always wanted to visit Ireland. But it sounds like my part of Colorado US is a lot like it. We can have a sunny 80° day that changes to rain and hail with a tornado watch, or snow -dropping below freezing then the next day have sunshine all day. That's probably what I like best about where I live. The weather can change hourly. You learn to dress in layers. Trying to be perfect or do things perfectly stinks! And should be avoided at all costs! I try to follow the saying, "Persistence Not Perfection." 😃❤
