Carbon neutral by 2050 is something for environmental impact, but it does not address the chemical excretions in the soil, pushed up by rain, and vapprized by the heat. The companies need to work with EPA for a Superfund cleanup.

Oprah came to Louisiana years ago and did a week-long show in cancer alley. This is nothing new. I got cancer living in cancer alley. I was healthy, fit, exercised daily. So, was my boyfriend at the time. In fact, he was more fit than me. We both ended up with cancer. Thankfully, I could afford to move. But for the many who still live there, there needs to be a true solution -- not some gimmick that stands to have greater implications later.

95% higher risk of cancer? Man... I hope nobody gets on here too ask why these folks don't just move. For one, where that they can afford? For two, it's their home, you try moving from your home! Not easy. I know my state has a gas plant that is far away from most homes, but the people closest to it are affected by pollution. I certainly wish these folks better life than what they've got right now.

Clean air, water, and soil should be all a right. It’s time to put the nail in the coffin once and for all we can’t keep half assing it too many lives depend on success not failure. If they can’t sequester emissions in whatever form then they shouldn’t be allowed to operate unless it’s water vapor or other safe emissions.

There's a lot they're not telling in this video. A lot of these plants are built on top of mass slave graves. Right now they are trying to build a plant on top of a know slave burial site. Buena Vista plantation. My ancestors are buried under that soil. That's what made it to the UN. The next problem is the majority of the people working in these plants don't look like the people that live near them. Most of the people working in them are from surrounding areas come in, make 100K a year to bring back to their area and these areas stay just as you've seen. Broke breathing in these chemicals. Race plays a MAJOR factor in who get these jobs. I grew up surrounded by these plants in every direction.

These 'solutions' are trash and will only cause new problems later. The only solution is close those plants down, and pay those that have lived there for generations the millions they deserve for the BS.

Dwanna, cancer alley has existed for years and has claimed many lives. Also, Oprah and national news have attempted to make known the plight of folks who live in cancer alley. Things have not gotten better -- and won't -- until the folks who monitor the pollutants do their jobs. And yes they can tell what pollutants are in the air and from what plant/refinery. Right now, the EPA and state environmental folks are turning a blind eye.
