As a young boy I used to go to Muswell Hill roundabout to watch the buses - in those days RTs and RFs. On a couple of occasions I was taken into the mobile canteen (708B) and bought a drink. I remember the busmen being bemused about why a six-year old should be interested in buses. These were before enthusiasts and parents would let a child out on their own to play without fear of molestation.

Nice video! I lived in a house on Sydney Road near the bus garage in the late sixties. A couple of lovely lady bus conductors also lived in the house.

Thank you for that. Great to see - but sad. I had the same experience when Stagecoach bought our company - then proceeded to asset strip. Was never the same after that.

A lot of the faults LT had, it was running a bespoke and well oiled machine in a debilitating time, 70s and 80s, somehow it just couldn’t retain the level it needed but yet was so attractive to private firms, but made to look shabby for drivers, passengers. Makes me wonder what the bus is for, anyhow. Great video, good to see smiling faces, unlike today!

Do you remember Raymond Dimond my grandfather he drove out of muswell Hill for a little while? Thank you for your video, I grew up around the vicinity of the old garage and went to hollickwood primary school next door.

Sad to see this garage go. I never saw it, but I do remember passing the stand on Hampden Road. Is it just North London that had idiosyncratic bus garages tucked down residential streets (Muswell Hill, Chalk Farm, Finchley, Edmonton - at least Holloway is still there)?

Great to see a garage I never knew of as of course it was ages before I was born. You get sent to Potters Bar right?

I did, yes. Some went to Finchley or Holloway, depending on which garage you chose.
