Diagnosed with it on 1988 at the age of 15, I can still remember the last meal I had before I went to the bathroom and felt the first cramps and blood drip into the toilet(hate to be graphic). It was scary and painful, I thought I had cancer which continued the flare up. It was brought to a gastroenterologist who scoped me without anesthesia, yeah, even though it wasn’t deep, it hurt like hell. I was put on sulfur drugs and folic acid, the sulfur drugs ballooned me up and so I stopped taking them with a warning from my doctor “would you like a trip to the ER?” He was right, fall of 1989, my senior year of high school I had a major flare up, for the first time I was admitted to the hospital where I spent a few days. Whew I thought, I got out of that, but I still didn’t want to take the meds for what they were doing to me and I would pay dearly for it the following fall. That fall (1990) I was a freshman in college sitting in English literature class when I had a huge cramp out of nowhere, it felt like someone stabbed me, I ran to the bathroom and barely made it, what I went through in that bathroom stall I won’t ever forget, the intense pain and the amount of blood that came out dwarfed anything I had experienced up to that point. I immediately grabbed by things and drove home, I decided to take a few days off and take my meds in the hopes I wouldn’t miss too much time, but it was too late, the pain and bleeding got worse and I knew something had drastically changed for the worst. It became so bad that at 18 I drove myself to the hospital and checked myself in, I would spend the next 2-3 months in the hospital going through what I can only describe as hell. Back then they did not treat pain like they do now, for pain all I got was Tylenol, Motrin or Maylox, so I tossed and turned as my body deteriorated from the disease, everything from going from 5’7” and 155 to 126lbs, to being jabbed so many times I had no more veins left abs required them to insert a device into my jugular vein to give me meds, to two blood transfusions and finally and thankfully surgery. But even surgery couldn’t go well for me, I was sent home only to have scar tissue block the intestine making it impossible for me to go and distending my stomach like a balloon. So back to the OR I went to fix the issue only to have an infection happen because an arrogant SOB of a resident doctor forced an NG tube down my nose which forced me to gag and pulled on my staples causing the infection from the trauma. I had 5 surgeries in 10 months, the last one was to reverse the bag I had to wear. Because of this I went on to throw myself into health and fitness competing and eventually running and owning my own personal training business which I operate to this day. I don’t wish this horrible disease on anyone, it’s very painful, debilitating and for an 18 kid embarrassing. The only thing I am thankful for is the fact the technology existed, had it not I’d be dead. If you know anyone suffering with this disease, reach out to them and thank the powers that be that you are healthy. God Bless.

I was 15 when i was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and now i have turned 18 and the years which passed have different stories good and bad with change in time and even after treatment from a well-known gastroenterologist the result is just that symptoms stop or become less but it is chronic at the end. Just i learnt from my life till now that keep going and see yourself among those luckiest who has something better than nothing and there are more bigger problems than your disease in the society which are to be cured.. So I'm on my way to become general surgeon so that i can study the disease and try to do my best to cure uc completely and other diseases !! Health is wealth at last 😇♥️

I was diagnosed quickly when I was 5 years old. Over the years I have been to 5 doctors and 10 colonoscopy’s. I have been on several medications and suffered greatly and missed out on a lot of things in life. When I was 16 I went to a doctor in Lexington and was put on a new medication called Entocort. I took that until I was 19 when my UC progressed into severe UC. I was then put in Remicade and immediately my symptoms stopped and have been in remission for 8 years now with only a few minor flares since. I’m now enjoying living life.

please take time to read this, it might help you my husband suffered from crohn's disease almost all his life and i can tell you that its really terrible, watching him get lean and pale worried me the more, he lost appetite, he was always and was unable to go to work again,he kept having sores in his mouth and the constant pain was making the situation worse. we kept going from one gastroenterologist to another, they were not helping the situation, they kept giving us different drugs and it was making it worse, they kept increasing the dosage, in 2016 when i went to cvs pharmacy to go and get another drugs for him, that was were i heard about dr folonsho a herbal doctor, who specialises in using natural roots and herbs to treat diseases and chronic pain. at first i was in doubt, because we have tried many options that were not helping and all the doctors we came across told us that there was no cure, and i believed, so i contacted this herbal doctor and he said he could help my husband, after i told him my problem, he said he has a herbal remedy that can heal my husband and reverse this illness completely and he will be back to his normal state of health, not having many alternatives anymore i requested for the herbal remedy, because the situation was getting worse, after using the medicine for about 3 weeks there was great improvement, and my husband was getting back to his normal self, its been 4 years now and my husband is still strong as ever, all thanks to dr folonsho, and may GOD continue to bless you, so if you are still sufferring from this disease kindly contact dr folonsho today either through email drfolonsho@gmail.com or via whats app +2348073410606 or you can check out his website drfolonshoherbalhome.simdif. com/ and you will be glad you did, i wouldn't want someone to experience what my husband did

UC is horrible and takes a lot of the youth out of people lives. I have been diagnosed with UC for 16 years now. I was able to be drug free for 7 years after getting it under control and changing my diet. Then I had a flare up and can't get rid of it with diet and medication. Hoping my 6th drug will be the charm lol. So far only Prednisone tapers have been able to stifle my symptoms enough for me to go hiking and travel. To everyone out there struggling with UC, keep up the fight, there are others like you. It is hard to go on with daily life (if you even can), but there are solutions that work.

It may not last, my friend had it at the age of 17, she was really sick and her mum kept taking her to the GP who said there is nothing wrong with her she is taking drugs. She wasn’t taking drugs. I know she wasn’t. Nothing happened to treat her, she thought she had cancer due to the unpleasant symptoms she had, i the end the GP said have you seen the symptoms? Her mum had to look in the toilet and nearly threw up. She took my friend back to the GP and she was referred to the hospital more or less straight away. The consultant took one look at her and she was admitted straight away and was put on in a very high dose of steroidsshe spent 3 months in the hospital before being released but continued to have tests and being readmitted. Now about 30 years later she has IBS but thankfully no signs of the colitis. Unfortunately the damage has been done and she may die early because of this. Moral of the story is, we should be able to trust our GPs but we can’t due to their financial restraints so if you are convinced something is wrong especially with your kids who you should know better than anyone do not give up on pursuing their best interests. Ending does anyone know of the statistics of children that the local GP has said, he she had just a virus and it turns out they have meningitis.

@@blessed4894 Hi.. I had a bag for like 10 months or so.. and had 3 step surgery to get a jpouch created. The jpouch isn't perfect but it gave me my life back... the poop bag isn't that bad.. is just a bit inconvenient with certain activities (sex, working out, bending over.. etc etc) if you get a bag buy a stealth belt. Super helpful to hold up bag:) During UC what helped me was the following - boiled white rice - ripped bananas in smoothies - Raw Milk (some people report success) - Kratom (red vein) helps with retaining stool and for pain - Marijuana.. edible or smoking - Also I prayed a ton... unfortunately I still lost my colon but my younger brother literally prayed his UC away... crazy.. I know. So UC may also be an underlying disease due to some emotional stress. Coped up anger may aggravate it... take up things that help you release stress. Working out, deep breathing, and various affirmations. Hot tubes help or hot pads. - for awhile I ate fresh lettuce.. the pieces with the most water, olives and some cucumbers. - I wish I knew that chewing is crucial for healing.. chew your food up to 60 times to let your colon not be stressed and it helps your body absorb the nutrients better. - dont eat 3 hours before bed - Avoid cheese, meat and ANY fast food (I was destroyed by it), nothing fried - POP chips are lovely:) - Mash potatoes - Breast chicken - Vegan protein powders you can make smoothies with cacao, bananas and prebiotics - powder or pill form prebiotics and probiotics (avoid yogurt) -rice milk is good alternative I hope this helps. And may God bless you and heal you 🙃🙏.. don't let this make you sad and stay positive. :) if you want anymore information PLEASE feel free to reach out again. 🙃

@sAd vibes it's called Balsalazide I take 750mg for the pain and take it 3 times a day. I'm only 21. They are upping my dosage in a few months.

@sAd vibes no I haven't tried that, and surprising they have you on Prednisone, I took that for chest congestion and bronchitis... And yeah I'm not sure what your pain levels were but took a few days for them to figure out what it was, but I had some pretty bad pain that kept me outta work for almost 2 weeks and these meds work, especially the dosage. Also I had to get a colonoscopy, cat scan, and blood drawn, how about you? I've been diagnosed about 2 months now. Just now getting side effects, dry skin, random nose bleeds. That's all so far. Still get diaherea and shit but that's it.

@sAd vibes I come and go with the bronchitis, usually get it in the winter, but yes diagnosed recently for just the Crohn's and ulcerative. And I know it, it sure does make an impact. Without the meds I have right now and how high the dosage is it has been helping for sure.
