Hey everyone at around 1:10 I call IBD “Irritable Bowel Disease” when it is “Inflammatory Bowel Disease” as some helpful people have pointed out in the comments! I often mix the words up as I usually use UC when talking about my own health. Just wanted to make sure you knew so I wasn’t spreading misinformation ☺️

Thank you so much for this. You handle the topic with so much class. I'm in the middle of my first flare up and holy crow. I've not had a baby before, but as you said, I imagine the cramps must be something close to contractions. I've been out of commission all day due to them 😖

Really informative! Thank you for sharing. I have psoriatic arthritis, which is also an auto immune disease, so I sympathise with suffering flare ups. I think the more we all share our stories the better.

Thank you so much for sharing!! I've recently discovered your channel and find you so relatable. I'm 28 and had stomach issues like blood in stools since 19 but only got diagnosed with Crohn's after needing emergency surgery to remove part of my colon just over two years ago. I've been in remission for a year or so and so grateful. As a curvy girl myself I've found people dont always believe me because they associate ibd with lower weight. We're all different and ibd affects everyone in a unique way! Thanks so much for creating this video, I can really relate 😊, Natalia

@@Arkenva Hi there! Sorry only just saw your comment! :) Basically before I went in for surgery I was emptying my bowels 5-10 times a day for a month with very loose stools and mucus, almost unable to control it due to the urgency. This was combined with pretty bad cramping. Prior to that I was always going through phases of loose stools or constipation, with extreme pain going to the toilet (it's much better since my op). It's genetic, I found out later on that my uncle on my dad side had it too. I'm obviously not a doctor, but this is my experience. Hope this helps! :)

Very interesting and informative post. I've had UC for 30+ years and managed via various methods. I didn't realise the increase in mouth ulcers was potentially part of this...I get them as well.

I have CROHNS DISEASE Personally and have Strectsures Narrowing of Intestines and Colan meaning it can Cause BLOCKAGE OBSTRUCTION and if that happens that would Require Emergency Surgery. Fortunately for me Prescriptions Pills Help so did Not need IV INFUSSIONS.

Just a quick FYI Crohns Disease affects the WHOLE digestive system from your Mouth to your rectum. THAT being said most of the pain and discomforts happens in the small bowel.
