A night in the Colony | Gothic 1 | Music + Ambience Mix

Музыка

Another day of hard labour and scraping for ore nuggets comes to an end in the colony for the diggers.
You lay down in your shabby hut, the rain trickling down at your door step. You wonder where to hide the few ore nuggets you possess, now that you didn’t pay the protection money …

A 1 Hour mix paying tribute to the very special atmosphere nighttime had in the very first Gothic game.

First plays were horrifying, but once you mastered the game it was pretty easy tho. At chapter 1 you can easily kill the whole orc village in melee combat and kill everybody that doesn't have plot armor. 105 Strength and Scar's sword in chapter 1 make you quite a monster wherever you go on the map.

IMO its still one the best game worlds created that feel so real. It was always hitting me while playing Skyrim. In Gothic (soon 20 years old game) all 3 camps are simply full of people doing stuff, living their "lives" while in Skyrim more than 10 years younger there are like 20 NPC's and 8-10 buildings in first town (Whiterun?) wchich is said to be a very important "city"...

sentences that you can hear! hahah! Typically, in a video game, this kind of repeating dialogue output would get annoying after some time, but here it's just a feature, not a flaw. It creates this very specific atmosphere, and this is why I consider Gothic 1 and 2 to be art.

Which was already a valley itself. Although the part between old and new camp is quite small, this small section has quite an adventurous atmosphere. Like walking through an old, forgotten place that nature took over (despite it having two hunters there). Gameplay-wise it's not very dangerous to walk through it, but the music and the narrow paths, gave me always a sense of danger. (Although, if you'd take a wrong turn at Cavalorn's hut, you end up in a snapper's belly or at an orc's axe)

For the last 15 years I have been wondering why I love the nostalgia so much, which the sound of this game brings back to me ... Why is this game so emotionally stuck in my memory? Sometimes I thought it was a matter of plot, sometimes it was a matter of the game world, thanks to which something was happening everywhere, sometimes it was the excitement of not being able to die because my computer was loading the save for 20 minutes, or maybe it was because this game helped for me to calm down after the toe treatment, when I felt terrible pain ... Today I probably understood what it really is! Pay attention to who the nameless person was. He was abandoned, without family, alone in the wild. Must have survived ... Does it remind you of something? We listen to this because this game is an allegory of our childhood. We, who love to listen to the sounds of "Gothic 1 & 2", had a similar childhood. Sick childhood. And this game helped us like no other to escape from what was happening at home. Just take a look at all coments for Gothic soundtrack ... I feel we all have similar story.

In Skyrim you can choose your scars... Choose SCARS... CHOOSE! That is the level of deepness of the character... In G123 it is about internal emptiness of Nameless. He needs no artificial scars to make up a story of his life. We as characters would simply put ourselves into his past... Wonderful decision.... If a portal to Valley of Mines would magically appear... I'd go for it...

As a child I was exposed to this game. Little did I know but it would go on to shape my future expectations of what true RPG's should be like. Gothic series is by far my favorite series of any RPG every released. As a young child in the USA I found myself as the only person that knew about or even played this game. It brings great joy to my heart and soul to see that so many other people around the world enjoyed it just as much as I did. One can only hope that the remake is an ENHANCEMENT of the previous versions. I feel blessed to have been alive long enough to experience this game in its infancy and then to experience it with modern day graphics and stability. Thank you for posting this music. It immediately brings me right back to my childhood years.
