I do believe it's the breed and as long as no one tries to suppress them, they're active and happy. I think the Jack Russell has similar traits.

and do not touch that rope border! Venetian Murano etched mirror vanity tray. one just like it, exact handles but green rope border sold at Live Auctioneers 2022. it's a keeper, Stephanie! good eye!

@wweryyyy I highly suggest when you have the chance to go way back and watch the earlier episodes, they are all binge-watching worthy!

At 30 Euros, the tray is a bargain (if not a steal). What you have is a Midcentuey Modern Murano vanity tray, most likely by Ercole Barovier. Here in the US they can cost anywhere from 60 to over 1,000 dollars...depending on size, condidtion, etc.. And, whatever you do, don't remove the rope around the edge as it is also Murano, and not plastic!

@@hilltopgirl2665 I was lucky a few years ago, and picked up one of the larger trays for 5 US dollars. I was over the moon with that purchase. The only reason I knew it was Murano is that my last employer has one he bought, and he received one for his birthday.

@@itzel1735 As far as Im aware, these trays haven't been made in over 50 years, so it's highly unlikely it's a knock off. I've been collecting for over 60 years, and have only seen a handful of them during that time.

@@DouglasRehrer I defer to the expert of course. Both of my grandma’s had things inspired by this type of glass, though neither as large nor as finely detailed.

As soon as Steph pointed out that mirror tray, I was thinking "Oh, be sure to get THAT!" So I was pleasantly please to find that she did get it. She & Phillip will be super enthused once they find out that it is a Mid-Century Murano and rarely seen. Hopefully they read the comments before taking it apart. I think it's beautiful just the way it is.

The porcelain you used for dinner is GORGEOUS!

I agree with you Stephanie, a beautiful little village.

The paintings upstairs at the cafe…what a surprise to see Chateau Lalande there!

At the rate things are going, guests are going to be staying just to have time with Lancelot. Too adorable. Love the village and how everyone is working together to bring it to life. That is the exact kind of place in France I'd want to live. Best to all.

Stephanie, the tray you have is from Venice. I purchased one exactly like it in Venice. I paid over $500 Eurols for it. My handles are metal. The round edging is glass also.

Marie is so happy with that addition Amaury put in the kitchen. Much more efficient and easier on her back.

Such a quaint and pretty village and just a hop, skip and a jump away from Lalande that your guests are sure to enjoy. What a treat to see the Marquis' suite in use.

I must have very kitcsh taste; I love the tray, including the brass handles! 🤣

I got so excited when I saw the tray. I have one just like it. I think it’s beautiful. It’s a Venetian Etched Mirror /Murano Glass Tray. It’s a very special item.

Chateau de LaLande is helping to breathe new life into the village, which is wonderful to see because it must always have been a focal point of village life, employing people to work the farmland once owned by the family and to service the chateau.

It would be wonderful if Chateau de LaLande could have a cafe open year-round that served the basics like soup & salad, quiche, croissants, and perhaps a few other French classics ...perhaps they could build a special semi-detached (with a connected covered corridor, perhaps glassed in) big high open 'tea room" with several skylights, and filled with plants & windows on all sides that looked out onto the future lake ...almost like a huge old fashioned wrought-iron conservatory painted white as their cafe & event room for special occasions like weddings ...it would be such a wonderful way to serve the local village & surrounding area/community.

Please keep the tray as it is, plastic pie crust edge and all, in it's own wacky way, it works, and a bit of decorating irony in the chateau is not a bad thing. It would make a delightful dresser tray. I often find myself attracted to objects that defy good taste, but speak to me, and I've never regretted bringing them into my home. Well, almost never. Never go shopping after two martinis . . .

Philip does the skeptical bit. Funny to see it reversed!😂 “and you brought back this?” Ha ha ha

Stephanie is the first person I've ever seen age backwards, every few weeks she looks ten years younger than before, specially considering she has lost weight as well.

Brilliant! Actually, I wouldn‘t remove the kitschy transparent plastic rope border. At the time, it was a very chic, precious, newly invented material. Otto Röhm invented POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE or acrylic glass and had it patented in 1933😊

SO many treasures at that brocante! Please, ask Philip to bring a camera, when he goes down there and buys the lot! 😂 The tray was a good buy(to be😊)!

Foam is a flavoured creamy topping, say the dried raspberries Marie ordered, that has high powered air added, via the siphon Stephanie bought, to cream to make it foamy. Very chi-chi Lol and delicious.

I think the tray is nice and I actually quite like the handles. Perfect for tea in bed!

This was really great! Love the little village and the painting of the chateau on the wall at the new cafe! How amazing!

I must admit, france really does do the best on the perfect unspoilt village. Things really do take time. You have such a friendly village. Xx

Love the tray. Have seen a couple here in NC. They sell for over $200.

A comment simply to add that I enjoy every glimpse of life at Lalande, in the local communities and in your travels that you share with us, including Marie's guest dinner preparations and on to serving from starters to desserts. Marie''s charming personality only adds to the sublime flavors of the amazing dishes that lucky guests get to savor.

Perhaps the folks at Chateau Love would be interested in that green and gold Art Nouveau set?

How lovely to see the whole villeage community come out to the café and wine bar opening. It will mean a great deal to have this space to gather and stop by. I can't imagine an English villeage without a single Pub, every villeage needs a social hub however small or simple, and this one has loads of space inside and out, charm, and crazy cheap prices so that was a smart thing for Lalande to support with some finances. I'm sure it means something to the villeage that you are involved a little bit, and care. ❤😊

Thank you for another lovely episode! 🫶💞🫶 That is so wonderful, to see new meeting places in the village! I just opened a small shop myself past August in our small, remote village, even with a terrace and the opportunity to have coffee/tea and some snacks, charge electric bikes etc. And a caricature artist, so people can have themselves drawn! 😁 It takes a loooong time here to get some traffic, but I’m patient. 😊 Marie is a true chef, I’m so impressed every time! 👌👌

Oh my gosh..... Tonight's plates are the most spectacular ones ever. Well the entire dinner set. When you had that footage of the main course with the chicken it looked so amazing on the plate. It's by far my fav one so far. Please use it more often. It's a pleasure to the eye. Stephanie that green glass dresser set with gold flowers has your name on it in the new shop in town. What a lovely town. That painting of Lalande at the new pub just shows that it's part and parcel of the region.

Leave it as is. The surround and handles make it look sweet and decorative.
