Meet Caitlin, Co-Founder of the OAPP Down Syndrome Advocacy Program.
Caitlin came across Swim Angelfish in her devoted search to find swim lessons for her son with Down Syndrome, after a terrifying event where her son jumped into Lake Michigan. He had a life jacket on, however, with his low-muscle tone, he could not lift his head and neck out of the water.
Thankfully, Caitlin was able to act quickly and get to him, but she knew she needed to find swim lessons with someone who had experience with disabilities. Enter Swim Angelfish!
After her experience with Swim Angelfish, she believes in the Swim Angelfish Swim Whisperers® methodology so much that her nonprofit, OAPP Down Syndrome Advocacy Program, with support through donations, helps swim instructors obtain Swim Angelfish’s Swim Whisperer® certification, levels 1-4.

The OAPP Down Syndrome Advocacy Program is dedicated to helping people with Down syndrome and/or other disabilities gain the water safety skills to be independent and safe around water. Partnering with Swim Angelfish, Only Alpha Pool Products (OAPP) is dedicated to helping reduce drowning statistics by offering financial support to swim instructors seeking to receive swim certifications to teach a more adaptive approach for individuals with disabilities. Swim Angelfish provides free online resources for parents, swim instructors and coaches, online therapist training, as well as an online certification program in their methodology, so that all swimmers with special needs can learn to be safer and more independent in the water.
