    Farmer perspective here.... I need plumbing tools, electrical tools, framing tools... It gets really expensive. I decided to give Flex a try and have not been disappointed. When they are on sale I pick it them up. The lifetime warranty seals the deal for me. Their recip saw is the best. I use it instead of my Dewalt chainsaw quite often.

    I just bought that flex drill, because I could use it, but I’m still keeping my other tools, red & yellow, but now I have choices. So far, I like Flex enough to try their tool boxes! I’ve got so many red boxes, I forget what is in them, and where it’s at. Now I can separate my firearms, from my tools. Moisture is critical to me!

    Price wise I’d say they are comparable to milwaukee dewalt, but I haven’t seen a sale at all. Meanwhile pretty much everything else is flying off the shelf with deals right now. I think they were counting on the hype to get their foot in the door, but without the ability to match competitors deals, they seem to just be sitting on the shelves. Their strategy should have been priced to get them in people’s hands. No matter how great your tools are, if nobody has them... it’ll be a hard road

    Right now when you want a Flex Tool…they all come with the kit form. I think they do that to make people get into investing in their battery platform. Once they get you into their platform by the end of the year you will start seeing more tools. The “lifetime founders warranty” is only on a handful of tools. Imagine if it was for a 100. Wait within a year when they either prove themselves among the “Big” three…👍👍

    Here, in eastern europe, Flex is a rather common name, not like in a way that the brand here has some incredible reputation, but, because Flex was the ones that basically invented the angle grinder. As it's Germany, eventually those tools shoved up also in Soviet Union, some from Germany, some produed in Bulgary. So in Post soviet space word "flex" is a verb - defining and action cutting something of with an angle grinder or work with an angle grinder in general.

    The anti-kickback is nice to have on a hammer drill. Here’s my 2¢ on the Flex line of tools. Yes, that drill is nice with features. But it’s BRAND NEW, Milwaukee’s gen 3 hammerdrill has been out how long (2804-20); and I’m HOPING/“guessing” that the next gen of Milwaukee tools (like any tool brand does, cuz, why wouldn’t they) WILL have NEW & IMPROVED features and specs from previous generation of tools. It’s how things should go. What’s kinda nice about having FLEX enter the “tool wars” is that is makes the Milwaukee’s, DeWalt’s, Makita’s, etc…tools not stand still and keeps them innovating and IMPROVING their tools, b/c if they don’t, some other brand will! That’s my take and opinion. So yeah, are flex tools nice, YEP! Am I gonna get rid of my Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, Hitachi, Bostitch, Bosch, etc…tools and only use Flex. No, but doesn’t mean won’t “add” a tool from Flex to my line up, if like and need something 😉👍🏻👍🏻

    @@robertcasey3528 Very true, Flex is owned by Chervon which built Ego OPE from the ground up. Once any company comes out with a new motor/battery system it is NEW again...so in reality once you get past 5 years or so all the tools are starting over again. I don't own any Flex but like their anti-kickback tech and the 6 inch inline saw. As far as Chervon gear, I've used Ego and have a Skil oscillating saw (10.8V) for a lightwieght tool for finishing work. My main stuff is Makita for battery operated and Skilsaw and DeWalt for corded tools. Don't understand the fanboy thing with tools though, the right tool is the right tool and no brand has all the right tools for the jobs I do. So I own Makita, DeWalt, Skil, Bosch and Dremel. What I WANT is a Flex 6 inch inline saw that is corded for finishing work and more precise cuts. The Skilsaw is a beast but it would be nice for a corded inline saw to get it right on both sides (I use both hands depending on the cut) It seems that Flex is pushing battery operated everything but I figure next year they might roll out corded versions of some of their gear.

    Milwaukee has come a long way since I invested into the cordless market. I HAVE makita. Theres nothing wrong with them, they are current and comparable. But Milwaukee has more power and torque, vs the Makita RPM and finesse and control. I will be checking out bLowe's very soon to see what Flex has available, but I'm not coming out of the Makita lineup any time soon, Just way too invested and they work great, they are contractor grade tools, not "some of them are comparable to contractor grade" like the ridgid lineup was, but Makita is only recently getting to yhe 36v and into industrial grade where Milwaukee has been there at the industrial grade.

    Trigger Control is kinda the subtle slayer of pro lever tools. Apparently Milwaukee fixed the poor trigger control in the gen 3 in the gen 4 impact so I am interested. Especially with an impact driver, power really isn't everything. Cam out can shake a precariously balanced screw and fall which is frustrating. Vibration of the tool is important as well as trigger control as mentioned. This is that pro level shit even the KZreadrs aren't testing for except AvE.

    I've seen Flex Vs Milwaukee impact driver tests where the Flex started to spit out oil under heavy load and got like 20 degrees hotter than the Milwaukee. So the real issue with Flex is going to be their power because it's obvious they've got that, but it's going to be proving their longevity in the field where brands like Milwaukee / Dewalt have already done that. The biggest thing that drew me to Milwaukee is not only do they always compete with the best in a category (if not the best overall) is the fact that you can by just the bare tool which is something Flex hasn't decided to do yet which doesn't make much sense to me. That's the 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 thing that would make me even consider adding another battery platform. I don't want to pay for a battery & charger for every single new Flex purchase I'd make. Their Impact is like $200 where with Milwaukee since I already had chargers & batteries the tool itself was only 95 bucks on Amazon at time of purchase. So that's $105 I can spend on anther tool. Purchase 3 or 4 Flex tools and see how quickly it all adds up. I'm not trying to knock Flex, I have no experience with them and from what I've seen most tools seem above average but with a business model like that, their definitely going to have some birthing pains.

  • @Taylormade2350

    @Taylormade2350

    Maybe because flex just came out and you need batteries and charger. That would be logical. You also get lifetime warranty on all those batteries and chargers within the first year of them being out. I've seen plenty of KZread videos of Milwaukee and DeWalt failing.

  • @Atum_Ra

    @Atum_Ra

    @@Taylormade2350 Needing batteries when you buy a tool and have no platform is one thing but when your just starting in a platform like I did a year or so ago, I purchased one kit then a bare tool, another kit then 2 more bare tools, another kit then another 2 bare tools. It's just jive having the option. Seeing how many kits are about $200 more than the bare tool I would have spent and additional 800 bucks or so if it was the Flex platform and I haven't seen anything by them that warrants that kind of premium over any other brand. If they want people to adopt quicker it makes much more sense for not only the customer but for the company as well to just offer the bare tools as well to get people to want to adopt their platform quicker. And I didn't say the Flex impact failed, I just said it was bleeding oil out of the collet and ran extremely hot compared to the competition. That's not great for a brand claiming their impact driver is "better" than Milwaukees because its really not in any way at all, their pretty even actually with the difference being the Milwaukee holds its oil and doesn't get as hot under heavy load which usually means the longevity is going to be better in the end. If you want an impact that may or may not bleed out oil, gets really hot under heavy load, and that your forced to pay for items that you might not necessarily need... then the Flex might be the right choice for you 👍🏻
