I just bought the non BL less expensive one with two 2.5ah batteries for $99 at Lowes. This video answered my questions. Always nice seeing a person put things to scepticle testing. I would have used a speed triangle to mark out where the knots were so as to not subconsciously drill into them. Also maybe have an average of 3 passes per tool and battery combo since no tool performs the same constantly? Maybe mark the wood out so you can fit more holes in it rather than just 1 line down the middle of the plank.

You know Philly, I may have gotten a lemon, but my FX1351.....actually has a left and right place to attach the belt clip/bit holder. I didn't notice it after 3 days later. I check the Hammer drill, turbo hammer drill, and the quick eject impact driver, which only have one hole on the left. There's a DIY hack somewhere where you can add a second lock nut, but the biggest question goes to Flex on why they decided to make this a rightie.

Also , if your only drilling 1 hole I can see maybe using an impact if its already out , but a drill is waay faster , my Power Detect hammer drill would do at least 2 holes to 1 , if not more ....👍🍻🖖

I conducted the same test after watching this, same test stacks of OSB's and same size of fasteners for fair and even test and the Flex 24V Quick Eject Brushless Impact Driver with a standard 18650 2.5Ah had beaten the Milwaukee gen3 Fuel with a Standard Milwaukee 5.0Ah 18650cell battery. While the basic Flex single speed impact driver had beaten the DeWalt DCF840 with a standard 18650 2.0Ah battery and Makita XDT16Z with Standard Makita 2.0Ah battery both got destroyed by Flex basic impact driver model. I conducted the same test again but with Higher Amp hour battery and my fellow contractor were kind enough to Lend me a much powerful battery packs to go up against the Flex. The Milwaukee got destroyed. Then I did the same for the Basic Flex single speed impact driver powered by 3.5Ah Stack Lithium Ion Pouch cell battery vs DeWalt DCF840 with Dewalt's 1.7Ah Power Stack and DeWalt's 4.0Ah compact 20V 21700 cells and Makita XDT16Z with 6.0Ah battery. Nice comparison video. I was just playing around with the hammer drill replicating man caver’s test with PT and PSL using the speedbor blade bit and I have to disagree with his results. The Flex hammer drill just drilled through them like nothing. I was doing it without the handle and turbo mode. Edit: unfortunately, it failed. Very disappointed because I was really looking for a hammer drill that was nearly perfect, but I guess I will keep looking. Will stick with the Milwaukee. @@PhillyFixed I think it has to do with preventing the battery from overheating. I wasn’t able to do it with a 5.0 and 3.0 HO with the Milwaukee. It had to be 6.0 and above, so imo it’s possibly the way they set their electronics. Once it reaches a certain threshold it automatically shuts itself. Man, this is not my area of expertise.

Considering the M18 Surge only has about 430in-lb, that's not a big feat. The main selling point of the Surge is how quiet it is. That's why I bought mine, knowing I was sacrificing a lot of torque to not kill my ears when I'm using it inside (which is where I tend to use it the most).

That’s not how that works. Most of the materials, silicon, and tooling costs are probably identical and that’s going to be the bulk of the price along with the batteries which are the most expensive part of the kit in either case, and since neither is available a le carte or in the exact same battery config (the lower end comes with a bag and (2) 2.5 AH batteries and the higher end comes in a hard case with (1) 2.5 AH battery and (1) 5 AH battery) it’s hard to get an apples to apples comparison of the raw cost of just the tools without the value proposition of the case and bigger battery. It might be the case that the lower end one should be cheaper than it is, but not by much. It’s still a very nice tool.
