It appears that the whole kit you have there is a lower model kit. The higher models have a little white "BL" tag written on the side of the tool just above the FLEX name. They also look a bit different. They also come with 5amp batteries. Watch the teaser video. You can see the difference with the hammer drill and the impact driver.

Is this an m18 or an m12 competitor? I am guessing that it’s meant to be the compact m12 competitor due to the 24v (12x2) batteries? Otherwise it seems strange to be releasing a 24v full size system in 2021 when everyone else is going 36 volt (40)

Its identical to the Ridged line of cordless tools, and they offer same warranty. What your seeing is one factory that's making all the different lines of tools but branding them for different clients. They have meetings with the clients on cost , visual design, etc and they make the products. When one company like Flex, wants to compete with say Milwaukee by beating them with price, they add or remove certain parts, or people in the assembly line or quality control technicians etc and then they put out a cheaper product but essentially the same thing.

If they are not coming out of same factory all these different manufacturers are in an iterated prisoners dilemma agreement to not shake up the market so as to maintain equal market shares. This is a common thing in US and its unwritten so as to skirt the price fixing laws. This is why Tesla is so upsetting the the US auto industry, he doesn't give a fuck.

@@PhillyFixed the reason I asked because chervon has the habit of making the batteries look cheap. Kobalt or Ego is probably the best quality you are going to get out of chervon, but skil has like this release button that feels less robust when compared to major brands like Dewalt or Makita (you gotta love the springs on the Makita). So how does the release button stack up with Dewalt or even Kobalt? How are the springs?

Many have tried..many have died trying... those that already invested in Kingwaukee ...(damn spell check). I meant the big 3 : Milwaukee, Makita, or DEWALT are gonna stay with the tried and true. I would of purchased the Kobalt XTR kit at 399 but they were never available. Lowe’s is confusing the consumer and need to be upfront. Are the phasing out certain lines. They still have the standard Kobalt, XTR line, Metobo, Craftman, and now Flex with different variations within. Too many items on the menu. Variable speed impact - standard, drill driver hammer/drill- standard for now.

Nope. My others have a similar collet. But some brands are marketing "one handed" collets where you don't need to pull the sleeve to insert the bit, and then when you pull the sleeve to release, it 'ejects' the bit. This did not do that.

These just look like the kobalt tools chervon made. Flex is a famous german tool brand but these don’t feel like that quality. Each tool seems slightly less polished than milwaukee, makita or bosch. Also there are no new or novel features that make people want these over competitors. The sawzall blade change snd the impact driver chucks are not well engineered

It's pretty commonly seen hanging with the big dogs for short bursts, but Makita's XGT GPH01 outpaces it consistently across the board, some have put it behind the DeWalt DCD999 in a similar fashion. Philly's tests has had it and the Metabo HPT Multivolt trading punches and sometimes performing alot like its Kobalt cousin. Hell, when it beats the Milwaukee gen 3, it's not by much, and not really impressive when you consider that it's a 3 year old design, that sacrifices some performance to be smaller than what was its contemporaries, Of course, it'd be interesting to see TTC test it.

Ugly ass tools! They certainly didn’t try to lure customers within the sea of other brands. That may sound trivial, but folks like the DeWalt yellow and black and the Milwaukee red, and when you’re in the tool section of the store your eyes naturally go to and brands you easily recognize by their trademark colors. Maybe these are “beta” version because how can they expect compete with a single-speed impact when even their cheaper Skil (same company) impact has 2 speeds, DeWalt and Milwaukee have 3-4 and even Ryobi has 4.
