As Titania sleeps, Oberon applies his love potion to her eyes, while his servant, Puck, comes across a sleeping Lysander and Hermia. Mistaking Lysander for Demetrius, based on Oberon's description, Puck applies the love potion to him - causing him to fall madly in love with the passing Helena, rather than his true love.
