Bottom and his friends arrive in the Athenian wood to rehearse their plays. Puck, observing, turns Bottom's head into that of an ass, causing the other Rude Mechanicals to flee in terror. Bottom, going after them, finds himself in the glade of a sleeping Titania, who awakens and, thanks to Oberon's potion, falls in love with him.
