A look inside a microchip

Ғылым және технология

A look at an EPROM microchip under a microscope at 100x ( 0:01 ), 400x ( 0:58 ) and 600x ( 2:43 ) magnification. Some amazing detail becomes visible!

I still cant rap my head around how components in a microchip are soldered/assembled, especially in mass production. Its just amazing.

It's from KZread's audio swap, called 'Articulate Silences Part 1' by 'Stars of the Lid' Glad you enjoyed it!

This was an eeprom, a rather small chip, yet what you see looks like a very, very large city. Now take a look inside one of the first 8086 cpu, and you'll see a whole galaxy. Want to get things even worse? Have a look inside one of the latest core i7 cpus... Now you've got a problem!!!

to my knowledge that was an eprom. An eeprom wouldn't have a window.

I don't think an i7 can be easily examined. even if you use an electron microscope. Also I'm not sure that an electron microscope examine an i7 without damaging it. it's very sensitive. electrons hitting it may cause changes on it. but that's just an idea.

I most certainly agree, unfortunately I've been very pressed for time lately. I concentrate most of my spare time on my other channel. I will certainly redo this when I get a chance and include commentary but until then you'll have to make do with KZread's music (which I spent hours trawling through to find something appropriate...) Thank you for your kind words!
