@@emmafox6351 Eating disorders ARE addictions.WHAT you are addicted to is a SYMPTOM of the addiction, not the addiction itself. They had mental health problems, depression/trauma/ emptiness...something inside of them that was abnormal, and they used an addictive substance or behavior in order to cope with what they were already feeling BEFORE they ever did drugs or starved etc .Some people are addicted to drugs, some food, some starving, some obsessively cleaning, some cutting, some compulsive exercising etc. Those are SYMPTOMS of what is going on internally. The addiction was already present inside of them. WHAT they became addicted to makes no difference, because the underlying issue is the same for all of them (unresolved mental health problems). To put it simply....brain= not working right. Person with brain not working right cannot cope with it and abuse drugs or drink or stop eating, in order to cope with it and not have a breakdown. It is a SUBCONSCIOUS survival mechanism, not conscious. They don't even know why they are doing what they are doing.

Why can't some people accept this!!
Running wasn’t her addiction. It’s called escaping from her trauma. The more she thought about what happened to her, she exercises. Her past hunts her in her mind over and over again. I'm sure she was hearing voices telling her "It's her fault." But it wasn't her fault. She was hunted by guilt.

A friend of a friend started running three hours a day. My friends was jealous because she wanted to be that fit. I just said, "What is she running from?" Come to find out it was years of molestation and an abusive husband. No one would have ever guessed until she went to a psychiatric facility.
So happy she's better. Hope the relief has continued.

This woman is extremely strong and I commend her for that. She recognised that she had an issue, recognised what the issue was, the cause of her addiction and was willing to fight against it which is undoubtedly a hard thing to do especially in the physical and mental state she was in. Being that ill can take over your whole persona and mentality, making it hard for you to get the help you need, let alone admit that you have a problem. She would have become so fixated on exercise/diet that her entire life starts to revolve around it and the fact that she had the willpower to fight against her own issue which would have been scary and possibly quite uncomfortable is incredibly brave.
Addiction isn’t a disease, it is a coping mechanism. Address the trauma and the addiction dissolves.
I was broken when I saw her bony face and heard about the sexual abuse. So glad she is getting better and re-embracing her beautiful self. 😊

Eating disorders and disorders like orthorexia rarely stems from the desire to be lean and healthy. There's almost always an underlying trauma that the individual doesn't even realise affects their current behavior
I’m so sorry for your loss… May your son rest in eternal peace 🙏 prayers for you !!
OMG. You look so good now! I am really proud of you and for you. Not sure if this matters, but your body needs time to heal after exercise. You cannot get stronger or healthier by continually breaking yourself down physically. This is obviously much more complicated, but sometimes we need to hear the obvious.

But she wasn't exercising "to look young". She mentions the trauma that "triggered" it. To expect her to exrcise 'joyfully' with the context of her story in mind, sounds insensitive and cruel.There is absolutely nothing 'funny' about this story. You either missed the point entirely, or you are just a troll, judging by your profile.
Omg what an improvement 😍😍
Wow first time someone who is struggling and has persistence and only one shot and one opportunity to NOT EXCERSICE!!
It's not really exercise addiction. She's using exercise to escape or distract from abuse and it's one of her only coping mechanisms. Same core issue of unresolved trauma. Surface content like eating disorder manifestation, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, compulsive gaming aka "gaming addiction," etc are all avoidance strategies that work really well for people to not have to feel and can get stuck.
@roshiadlasun5330

Yeah but there is actually an excercise addiction. Where you are addicted to the feeling you get from exercising so you start doing it all the time, cuz your body releases all these good chemicals that makes you feel good when working out🙄 so it turns into an addiction.
@jrg305
4 жыл бұрын
@@roshiadlasun5330 I disagree. It's no more an addiction than any other behavioral compulsion that brings relief of intense feelings for people--people with OCD spectrum can get "addicted" to any behavior that brings comfort (such as pine sol smelling, in on case shown on "my strange addiction"). Arguably that's the underlying addiction--the behavior that brings comfort and helps self soothe. All of the aforementioned behaviors do have minor reward pathways but not to the extent of a true addiction, which seems to be misunderstood by the general population. Hard drugs like opiods are a true addiction. If people stop, there are intense physical and not just psychological problems. With exercise, the body is going to recover and heal
