A Look At The Meike 6-11mm Fisheye Zoom

No-one could accuse the Meike 6-11mm Fisheye Zoom of being conventional, either in function or looks. A focus ring that reads Near~Far rather distances, anyone?
It's a specialized lens as are all extreme focal length Micro Four Thirds lenses, whether 6mm or 300mm. Could you find a use for it?

So it's not really a MFT lens....it's an ASP-C lens with a MFT mount....

Your wonderfully laconic drift took me wandering, again...into The 360^ Mirror World of the Amazing Jan Van Eyck oil on Oak..picture of Giovanni Arnolfini & his Missus..c. 1434....And I thought would our Jean Van E..have done with a Fisheye lensed camera..? But goodness, just look what he did with his bare hands..Arnolfini picture is in our National Gallery..Free to view..worth the Trip ! As is Velasquez’ pix..he’s my real hero..Same gallery.

I am gambling this is the final of 2018 but if Kempton is anything to go by, an Olympian ring at your door delivering the latest and may be greatest M4/3 offering yet for 2019 is with you. If not thank you for all your videos and long may they continue. Happy new year.

The cutting off at the top and bottom of the fisheye is still a deal breaker for me. I'd rather pay more and be happy with my photos.

Its size makes it unsuited for mft. Too bad, because the focal range is interesting. The meike 6mm for circular fisheye and the samyang 7,5mm for diagonal fisheye remain better choices.

I just tested this lens, it's really odd. I came away with the feeling that Olympus or Panasonic would never release something like this because of all of it's quirks, yet I find I like it. The hood gets into the image for a third of it's zoom range, and the focus only says near-far because it changes drastically with focal length. That said, I found this lens has some wonderful abilities that others don't. Close focusing at 6mm is really, really close, as in less than 1cm from the subject. Add to that the depth of field at f8 and it becomes an almost macro lens with the flat field of a funhouse mirror.

Pretty interesting but mad lens. It's heavy negating a major benefit of m43 yet is versatile for people who love it.
