I often prefer phortnight to play. I also enjoy call of dookie online mode.
I spent so much time as a kid playing this game. I spent an entire summer just catching and breeding spotslime/spotking. I just really liked him.
Ah what a great way to start the year.
Favorite childhood game. Really happy with dm3 😊
The amount of effort in this video is incredible! You're a super underrated KZreadr and I know you'll grow much bigger soon.

One of my favorites on the game boy
Man, that Pineapple joke made me laugh too much
I hope you continue covering the monster series ! Love these
Thing about the mana costs in the 3DS remake is, that you should only breed those magic skillsets like Uber Mage to monsters that have either a sufficient mana pool or monsters with Magic Regenerator (or another skillset that has Magic Regenerator), same goes for Uber Healer etc. the Magic Regenerator trait is very OP, especially for monsters that have a big mana pool already. But once you find out what traits to combine with what monsters and stats it all makes sense. So a Grim Rider which is an attack based Monster with a Mage skillset will of course not make too much sense, as its base mana pool is very low.
I played both the originals as a child and got a Japanese 3DS solely for these titles, and they are both absolutely incredible games. I will say this if nothing else between the remakes of Terry's vs Iru and Luca's Keys: in Terry's every skillset that gives the Omniheal spell ALSO tacks on an inaction trait, which is kind of annoying. But they are my favorite games of all time.
I spent hundreds of hours playing this game as a kid, and hundreds more as an adult through emulators. The music is still in my head. 14:00 I'll say this: While replaying the game as an adult I agree with you, as a kid these worlds felt huge. I replayed DWM2 to show it to my boyfriend last year and I was shocked by how small it felt, despite my memories of spending hours and hours in each world figuring out where you're supposed to go and what to do.

Oof, not happy to hear about the 3DS remake adopting Joker's mechanics. I'm not a fan of the skill sets, but imo far worse is the size categories. I've played through Joker 2 and 3 and I always found large monsters to not perform as well as you'd hope. Their number of actions being usually randomized makes it harder to plan around what your guys can do, and you usually end up with less actions than you would with 4 small monsters. For example, a 4-slot monster that gets 2-3 actions a turn is at best only getting 75% as many actions as a team of 4 mons. Not to mention you have less flexibility since you can only command the first action they take, with later ones being chosen by the AI, and based off the monster's stance. So with 2 mons, you could tell one to go offensive and the other to be defensive and focus on healing. But with only 1 larger monster you must choose between either attacking or healing. The stat boosts large monsters get just aren't worth it imo, and it leads to a lot of cool monsters ending up in the "never use" bin when I play because the devs decided they should be multi-slot.

Yeah, I ended up avoiding most big monsters for that same reason. Attacking multiple times is nice and all, but it's not very reliable. I'm not sure if there's a way to control it or if it's entirely left to luck, though.

@@MerryBytes So, I "acquired" a copy of the remake to play on an emulator, and I'm VERY impressed. The changes they've made seem pretty good in regards to the plots of the main worlds, and the increased variety of monsters is pretty cool! I was a bit disappointed to find out that apparently to complete one of the side quests you need to do wifi battles, which... even if you're playing a legit cartridge on a legit 3DS, since the servers went down that's impossible. Really frustrating when developers force multiplayer for 100%ing the singleplayer portion of video games x.x But yeah. I'm having quite a bit of fun with it, even if I still have some criticisms. Thanks for letting me know about it and the fan translation.

@@MerryBytes So uh, not related to the video but do you happen to know where the Metal Slimes are? Google has revealed nothing, and one guide I found says they can be found in the Desert world after clearing it... but doesn't say _where_ in the Desert world.
When I played through the remake (In Japanese because I bought a Japanese 3DS to play it) I just ran with a full on attack team (Since my Japanese is bad and using skills was kind of too hard.) using different recolors of the Killing machine line. Let's go Team Robosters!

well done, very good and interesting video! dqm 1 will always be one of my all time favourites, but 2 is still a neat game. I was devastated when I heard they are not releasing terry's wonderland in europe and it was the reason I said goodbye to nintendo

welcome back!
Amazing video
I just, last night, beat Terry's Wonderland 3DS and it was sort of really boring and felt empty. Would you say the 2 3DS remake is still worth trying?
@MerryBytes
Жыл бұрын
Might be worth trying at least, depending on how much of the issue comes down to the randomized worlds in Terry's Wonderland 3D. The gameplay mechanics haven't really changed much, but DQM2's 3DS remake takes place in proper handcrafted worlds rather than a series of randomized maps where you gather and train monsters to fight through arena ranks.

is there any way to get boss monsters in the game? cause the guide says u cant recruit or breed them. please and thank u
@MerryBytes

Aside from Darck, the Boss family monsters are all acquired by breeding, either with rare monsters or with other bosses themselves. For example, DracoLord1 requires mixing a Servant with an Andreal or a GreatDrak. Use this for reference: darksair.org/dwm2-breed/
Amazing XD I love DQMonsters, absolutely my favorite monster taming games ever; like for real, love all DQ games but monsters are my favorite, and thanks for informig me that the Tovi/Tara's adventure was already released with English patch, I was waiting for it like crazy after beating the Terry's game. Thanks for the video! It was fun, amazing and I did enjoy it a lot! BTW, is there any way of you checking and reviewing the "Monster * Race" series? Is also games that I totally love, but due to the language barrier I was never able to beat it, especially since I found no guide on Internet to check what I needed to continue. I think is in the kind of weird Pokémon clones that may drag some interest as an old weird jewel. See you on the next review!

@@MerryBytes Yes! Exactly; Monster* Race 1 and 2 for GameBoy (and GameBoyColor= with... remake? for PlayStation1. There is then the DS version that had a translation. I suggested it mostly because it's in the category of weird gems that doesn't even have proper guide (maybe the DS one has). The DS one is super fun due to its mechanics and the gameboy versions are nostalgic but the language barrier really affect the gameplay. I'm still wishing to be able to go further the first big city on the second game XD Thanks for considering it. If you don't feel interested or can't do it for any reason don't worry as I thank you for reading me anyway.

I will eventually, though first I'll be covering Caravan Heart.
Bro why tf they ahead of pokemon but they never bothered to compete! Ahhhhhh
i just had 1 more question bytes, does my monster need to learn the skill before breeding so it can be transferred? or can i breed 2 monsters without skills and will the baby learn their parents' skills?
@MerryBytes
Жыл бұрын
For the 3 innate skills that each species learns, no, they will always pass them down even if they don't current have it. For every other skill, the parents must currently know those skills to pass them down to the offspring. For example, Dracky naturally learns Antidote, Sleep and RobMagic, so the offspring can learn those skills even if the parent Dracky didn't currently have them. However, if that Dracky learned Firebal at some point, then it must also currently have Firebal (or Firebane/Firebolt) in its skill set to pass it down to its offspring. If the parent Dracky no longer knows Firebal, then it will not pass it down to the offspring.

How do you get Aibou without the iapp cell phone on the ps1 games :( and how do you get Lamia, Dimensaur, and Kagebou in the ps1 remakes?
@MerryBytes
2 жыл бұрын
I think Aibou can only be acquired through connecting with the mobile apps, unfortunately. The other three can only be acquired by recruiting them from random NPC masters in each of the 3 games of the PS1 remakes. Lamia is in Terry's Wonderland, Dimensaur is in Cobi's story, and Kagebou is in Tara's story.

@@MerryBytes I found from an old japanese websit just now that to get the secret monster they created for these games "Zomas Devil" you have to get all 312 monsters then go to the libray and the librarian will give you Zomas Devil egg. We are so close to solving these mysteries
