i forgot you said hgss is better than gs so i stopped watching, but then i remembered you admitted you're wrong so i just skipped that part and kept watching the rest

Ive been playin Gold on the Stadium 2 GB player and I personally think that is the best way to experience these games. From the mystery gift girl to the GB player to an interactive pokemon lab and all the battle challenges its my definitive pokemon experience

Indeed, the Stadium games were an amazing enhancement to the experience and opened up all kinds of possibilities with the item/box management. It's something that I miss when playing on emulators.

I just played through Gen 2 again for the first time in years. But, I didn't play vanilla gen 2. I played a rom hack, Crystal Clear. Makes the whole game open-world, letting you battle any gym in any order, letting you choose which town to start in, and giving you a whole list of Pokemon to choose as a starter. It also unblocks things that'd normally require HMs so you can actually go anywhere when you want. HMs are now mostly used for optional side areas. You can also re-battle gyms and the league. Technically, I'm still playing it. But I got all 16 badges and beat the League for the first time. I plan to try and re-battle the league eventually, and beat the optional "original gen 2" league. I also still gotta fight Red. And I'm working on catching all 251 Pokemon, since that's also something you can do in this hack. But now that I've gotten the badges and beat the league, I'm taking it slower. Playing it a little here and there while I play other Pokemon games and hacks (Currently playing a randomized version of Soul Silver, as well as Gold 97 Reforged which is an entire remake of the old Spaceworld 97 Gold/Silver demo). -------------------- I actually hate the fact that some Pokemon can only be found in the day or night. I'm a night player. Most of my play time is at night before bed and stuff. So it becomes a massive pain in the ass trying to get some of those daytime-exclusives.

To get around those game corner tms I would just clone them in emerald and transfer them up.

Amazing video. I love Pokemon Silver and still have mine copy, but sadly has its battery expired.

These retrospectives are wonderful, thanks for your work on all them. Will you venture into covering ROM hacks besides 97 reforged? Either way, amazing job. This will be replayed many times, just as the games 😁

I do have plans to cover other ROM hacks in 2023, though I'll likely do it in a different format covering various ROM Hacks for each Generation. But it's still in the planning session.

The celebration is today. We've got the US anniversary.

I still remember that time years ago when me and my cousin were playing Crystal on the Rew Gameboy Color emulator. We just started a new game and a wild caterpie appaered, we were like pffttt... and then... *glglglglglruin* Shiny Caterpie!. We couldn't catch it because we just started and we had no PokeBalls. I NEVER ENCOUNTERED A SHINY SINCE. That was like 20 years ago.

You can find them if you encounter over and over. In 40 hours of hunting you can find one most likely. 30 minutes a day. Never give up and maybe you’ll catch that caterpie again.

You're going to hate me for this but when I had a White (OG) copy of 2018 I encountered a shiny Kangaskhan during the post game, my very first shiny that I caught in the wild and I was freaking out for 5 minutes till the novelty wears off. Send it to my Ultra Moon copy and traded her for a male Rockruff. I gave away a free shiny because I was bored with it. Yea, I'm insane.

You think that's bad, I wasted 10 great balls and 10 ultra balls trying to get a Mantine. Thunder wave and life was a micro small red zone. Still didn't catch it.. literally right after I started swimming a shiny tentacool appeared..... I was So pissed, I wasted all my balls so for a shiny to appear and not catch..... I cried of anger. Fuck you Mantine........😭

Not gonna lie, I'd love to have that thumbnail as a wallpaper. It's hard to come by a wallpaper for the Gen 2 games that looks this good.

I recently got the Generation 2 games on my 3DS as I've been rekindling my interest in Pokémon for over a month now. Silver was my first-ever game I played in the series, so when I eventually get around to playing it, I hope I enjoy my time revisiting an old friend. :)

the thing that I am disappointed about HGSS is that it was still too slow compared to Emerald and the battle in Varidian City on which I used to grind my Pokemon through the Mystery Gift Mechanic giving the AI strong Pokemon, has been turned into a battle just to gain Battle Points... How disappointing. And you can't get Suicune before the Elite 4 as well as not having the Mystery Egg from Crystal which had a 14% chance of giving you a shiny baby Pokemon which was likely not added because Japan didn't have. Who the hell wants to breed these Baby Pokemon for a in-game run? Just gimme a free rare one and I will grind it to beat Red. Also no laser eyes from Totodile. A heavily nerfed Whitney. I mean you can one shot it with Coal Boosted Fire Blast Quilava... Also there is something different encountering a random Raikou during your first playthrough instead of looking at your map seeing 2 Legendary Pokemon icons knowing exactly from the start where the "doggos" are. Also regarding GSC, I am disappointed that Ho-oh didn't become the very first Pure Flying Type, but instead the boring ass Tornadus (because Gen 5 has to have a mono type of each Pokemon Type prior to Fairy in the regional dex). I would also like to tell my disappointment of Lugia being a Psychic/Flying Type instead of a Water/Flying Type. Lastly a criticism on Crystal, once you kill any of the legendary dogs, you won't be able to trigger or access the right to catch Ho-oh. One of the things that bother me like in Pokemon XD where you can't get Elekid with any Togepi/Togetic, but have to trade the shadow Pokemon one once it's purified. I actually like that you can't encounter the legendaries on a normal playthrough. It makes them more special once you found them instead being forced to encounter and even catch them for the game to progress. That is mostly why I like Gen 1 and 2 because the legendary Pokemon feel uhm... legendary. There are exceptions to the rule of course like Rayquaza in RS and the Regis, but they aren't on the cover and thus won't have the same inpact. Tho finding the Regies is far more rewarding when you had no internet access. Also you can get both cover Pokemon unlike in future games where you can only get Pink Dick Dragon or Dialga, or have to decide between a sword dog or a shield dog. That is why I appreciate Emerald so much, because the only legendary you are forced to pick is Latios or Latias and you can decide it yourself in the game. You don't have to get both Ruby and Sapphire or hope a "friend" gives you one which will be for the expence of something in equal value. Regarding that, if you don't have Gen 3 games or a DS with a GBA slot, you are forced to buy both HG and SS if you want both Kyogre and Groudon, which are required to get Rayquaza. So basicly, you buy 2 games to in order to get Rayquaza, but you are getting access to two Rayquaza. Unless you are into competitive... with a friend you like... oh boy... what are you going to do with 2 Rayquaza is the point I am making.

In response to Silver, and his his rival being a friend if under normal terms of life for both of them. The protagonist being raise by a single mother, and the rival having Giovani... Why is it always so true that criminal's respond very well to empathy over gradual time, but almost all comfy men in uniform mock, and tear, and have torn men down who show this quality? Known cycles of life suposing... For at minimum the last three decades. Also it now is a sense why the dragon shrine area of Johto did not have wild Pokemon to trail. It was a sacred place meant for spirital worship of. Why fight? Again you are a pleasure Mery. Also... Was it not the case that Cinabar island in the original cartridge game of silver was spelt CINABAR? These rom hacks being so prevalent with moder's toying around online... Cinnabar? Realy... Grass stone*... Imagine this irony. A mass killer who has only one passion that fills him, or her with a sense of safety. Pokemon games. Clasic Pokemon games... What a joke; right? The heart gold, and soul silver introductery profeser. Oak is wearing the wrong colour coat, and it may in the original sd cartridges been either greyish, or pure white like the typical oak scientist coat... More room hack "editions"... Great.. In the over_head map your trainer surfs through on that Lapras icon. There is never a small fish animation apearing on the surface water. That is an "adition"... The text refering to secret potion always had a space in between both words (secret) (potion) when speaking. That hack-edit is showing again. With Jasmine. IF there was a (THE END) apearing at the credits it would have been solid block leters. Not taters of leters. Such edge for such a clasic kid's game? Unlikely. Bad recall though so. Also sure that psychic moves were resistant when use on dark Pokemon. Pinsor; not Pinsir... Also that Pokemon natural wail was of distress in the radio audio file. Not torture... Dragon badge. Not. Dragonbadge. To complete the Pokedex in version silver required. Pokemon generation one. For starter Pokemon at minimum. Houndour, or name hondour was only ever found in Kanto. After the elite four. Marowak's body image is historicly incorect. Also video games are a part of history. Like destroying priceless pasions of art. If there is not an original copy untouchable...

generation 2 and 3 were the last decent pokemon games.
