I'm a doctor with stammering fr the past 26 years..but surprisingly, I slowly started to overcome the issue (( currently 28 )) & in the same time, I started talking to myself..as if I'm a professor giving a lecture..& that helped me somehow overcome it...I transformed myself from a guy who is afraid to talk on phone into someone who can teach medical lessons to peers & juniors....1st things 1st...psychologically u have to accept urself first bcus change starts within u . Then it gets reflected in the society..

what he says is very true: "if you speak less and listen more you will have better conversation". I am the guy who listens and is empathetic. The problem is that I am not listened to. It is just one direction. So my interlocutors pour out their personal life but do not want to know what my own life is. It is even harder nowdays when people want everything done quickly, here and now, and do not take the time to understand or even listen. Tough days for stutterers.

I’m 16 and I’ve stuttered all my life. After what you said I was crying because you described what I have been meaning to tell myself all my life. When I was in middle and high school I stuttered every day. It was like starring death in the eye every day. Now I’ve made him my friend. Now I have nothing left to fear in my life. At the age of 16 that’s amazing to me. And if someone is reading this you are probably shying away from a thing that you fear in your life. You don’t know how to tackle it. It’s okay you don’t have to know but if you really want to tackle it you will find a way.

I'm 21 years old and still a stutterer. (By the grace of God) . Yes I'm thankful . I burst out at words and repeat the beginning of each word , I run out of breath very fast , and I prolong words in the middle . It was very hard initially . But you have to realize that the root cause is your lack of coordination between speaking and breathing . You must learn to do both properly. Stuttering is a mechanical defect . I often find myself stuttering much more when I'm in the extremes of any emotion . Could be happiness , grief , excitement , anxiety etc.. the key is to change how you present your speech . Make it monotonous and boring . No problem . Do this for as much as you can . Once you get the hang of it ...slowly you can start introducing emotions in your speech . But this will happen later . In the beginning you must make sure you breathe a lot (even if it means breathing after every 2-3 words ...you MUST consciously inhale , take more air and then continue to speak two more words ) ....it may look awkward , very awkward but you won't stutter . keep doing this , till this practice becomes a part of you . AFTER THIS STAGE WHEN YOU ALREADY HAVE THAT BORING BUT SMOOTH FLOW BECAUSE OF REGULAR CONSCIOUS INHALATIONS......slowly start introducing emotions to your talk . Because they're very high chances of you stuttering if you get emotional when you speak . Do not do that for a couple of months.

kshetra sahu why do you give up hope like that ? Be optimistic , there is no problem that God cannot take care of . Here are some practical tips for you from a fellow stutterer :- 1) speak only what is required . Don’t get involved in vain and useless conversations . This point is very important . 2) be calm , emotionless with a straight face while talking . 3) breathe after every word (if people notice also DO NOT BOTHER ) . This needn’t be deep , can be shallow but IT MUST BE DONE . 4) after every sentence consciously take a good deep breath and proceed . 5) repeat 1 2 3 4 .

I also stammer and have become a trainer. I am not so self conscious of it now as being in front of people delivering two day courses at a time has made me deal with it. I realise it is part of me and who I am today. We don’t live in a perfect world and none of us are perfect. I have learnt to stop wrestling with my stammer and just accept it as part of who i am. If people don’t feel comfortable around me, they’re are plenty of other people who do. As time has gone on, my stammer has improved enormously and from my experience I think it is because I have stopped wrestling with it. I can really identify what the speaker is saying and it is so refreshing to hear him speaking so honestly and from his heart. Thank you for post this my friend. 🇬🇧🇮🇪
