You know, when I see the progress you’ve made on this build, when compared to the initial walk through you did with Anna right after you bought the place, well, there’s no comparison really. I was, frankly, mortified by what you were showing us with the burned floor and human waste everywhere. Excellent job, Ed. 👍🏻👍🏻🇨🇦

My thoughts exactly... I was looking over Edd's shoulder as he spoke, seeing those lovely stone walls against the new wood flooring... and how light & bright it looks compared to minus day #1. I'm amazed and impressed with the progress.
When you met Anna was she attracted to your workmanship ability or your natural charm, personality and good looks !!!

Wow, Edd and Louie, that floor looks fantastic! The room looks so bright now.
Getting that flooring in really transformed that upper floor! Congrats on this milestone.

Edd just being a mom but tuck those strings in your shirt before using the saw. Love your work ethic and you’re a real family man with chivalry a rare combo these days.

I agree, when working in building it's best to be safety conscious. Accidents happen all the time. At another chateau, chateau adventures the wife fell through the floor.

So amazing from where you started to where you are now. Looks fantastic!!!
Mark the room sizes out on the floor with tape thus taking the guesswork out.. Will give you a better idea on space and layout..
What a difference that floor makes, it's stunning

The anti return valve should keep rats out as well. All kinds of great stuff. Your floor looks incredible!
Glad to see Ed wearing eye protection while trimming the parkay. I'm learning so much just watching this renovation. I never knew how much went into a floor. This little house it going to be so amazing. Here's hoping for a tool sponsor (Dewalt, Dewalt, Dewalt . . . )

Kudos to you for thinking of a back-flow preventor, Ed!!!
and get some coloured glass for above the front door so it casts in rainbow light
I knew the floor would look good, but it looks MAGNIFICENT ❤
My architect and designer friends call your layout ideation "programming" uses of the space. It's convenient when three rooms with doors can be used flexibly. Sometimes a salon, a private guest room (or sickroom) on occasion. The balance is between over-programming and failure to provide subdivision.
Get well soon Louis. Obviously only the Brits knew what you meant about swinging a cat and settee Edd 😂😂. Great vlog. Love to you all.K🇬🇧❤️❤️
With the three room layout, your future tenants have the option of using the smallest room as a bedroom and the larger one as a salon. Beautiful work!
The flooring looks SUPERB Edd you and Louis have done a job well done. Liking the layout you have decided Anna and Edd. Glad you have sorted out the poo connector Edd better safe than sorry. Loved watching and a nice bit of filming Anna parfait. Loved watching as always😘
Love the floor - solid as - look how thick the parquet is! Great job Edd and Louis.
Hi Ed. You have to take care with cords hanging from your sweater. They may get stuck in some moving part. Always put them inside or get them really short.
Reverse layout. All bedrooms downstairs and living, kitchen, half bath - upstairs. Open concept upstairs. Its a nice space.

Open plan is harder and dearer to heat in the winter, also they would have to go through a bedroom to get to the outside space.
WoW .. What a world of difference with the floor in place ! All that light from the windows and the stone color ! YES !!!!
Louie, you’re a Rock Star! Been doing flooring myself-not fun but extremely rewarding, gawd, my knees hurt! Ed, I really admire someone who can use a skill saw the way you do, it’s a true talent, developed over many hours of mistakes and triumphs.

Edd and Ana! The floor looks magnificent! I really like the fact that you laid it on a diagonal ,which always looks special ,and fools the eye , making the room look larger. Who would ever have thought that this interior would look so good. I like the look of the open ceiling. The beams are quite nice. Is it possible to leave the whole level completely open except for the bathroom, of course. I know that it would be a radically different use of the space. You are having rooms downstairs aren’t you? It would be like the loft condos being carved out of large former factories here in the USA.

The floor is absolutely stunning Edd. Well done. Glad you’ve redone it. You wouldn’t have been able to live with it “not perfect”. Wouldn’t have blamed you, either. Keep up the excellent work.
Now that you've got the parquet flooring installed, don't forget to put down a good protector mat or you'll have more work when it comes time to put down the finish. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
You are making some great progress.
Great work looking superb
When dealing with plumbing it’s best to get the good stuff so that you don’t have extra surprises. Thank you, Ed & Anna
Floor looks great now,the upstairs looks massive now
what about having a glass panel over the door bit maybe it could be like a window that can open if you need to get in big things
The floor looks great Ed and Louis. Well done.
That is a beautiful floor and excellent craftsmanship laying it. I am finally seeing the vision you had when you took a chance and bought that wreck of a property.
Edd Unbelievable Progress. Well done. X 😊
The technical term you are looking for is 'non return valve'.
Good luck with that damp wall! I hope the neighbor cooperates if it’s his issue.
Good morning, from Western Australia, looking forward to another very interesting video and story.
Wow! Lots of progress! The old lacy curtains would no longer fit in!😅I can see the vision now…beautiful.❤
Anna I like that you and Ed work things out together come up with ideas that work in different ways.
Glorious sunny French weather I see 😏🫣
Storage is never wasted space - everybody appreciates storage!
The floor looks fabulous with the beautiful stone walls, Ed. Well done!
I was imagining the salon (and bathroom) at the front and two bedrooms at the back. That way you can leave the opening of the door open to the salon letting that light in. Put a railing around it and hang a large chandelier in the entrance.
🙂 Wow, it looks so good allready
Flooring looks great ❤
Great video Anna
"Be the bed Ed" Anna, so funny!
Great job Edd, the floor looks stunning! I agree with putting the one way flow valves in, sewer back-ups are sooooo very nasty!
The floor looks great! Smart idea to put in that back flow preventer An ounce of prevention, avoids a ton of poop lol
Now that the floor is down, the transformation to that space. is really amazing.. Your choice in flooring + the work are excellent. Usually, if there are children around , there will be visiting grandparents in the wings, so the 3 bedrooms plan is the way to go.
You must chec the "anti-poop- and backflow flap" each year, because the rats in the sewerage nibble on the rubber seal. They whant to come in. Lock for backflow flap befor each rainseson!
The floor looks amazing!
Looks fantastic!❤
The passage could be a walk-through closet into the bathroom, very common in American houses
When my wife and I used to renovate our houses, we did the same as the two of you. We would walk around the area and even place cardboard moving boxes around to simulate walls or other obstructions. It worked much better for her than construction drawings.
WOW, WOW, WOW!!! GREAT SPACE UPSTAIRS...BEAUTIFUL!!!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
The floor is so pretty I don’t want to see walls on it. Good job Ed and Louie!!
The floors are beautiful! I think I would put the two bedrooms on the back wall and leave the salon at the front across from the bathroom.

Once the rooms are divided you can use them as you want.
Great video, if you put a wall up to the bottom of the beam you could fill in the triangle above beam with double glazed windows. A friend of mine partitioned, it looked great, Sydney, Aus 👍👏
🎵 What a difference a floor makes🎵 remember the old song...what a difference a day makes by Billie Holiday. Beautiful work Ed & Louie & bonjour to Anna, love hearing your voice behind the camera, maybe show us your face now & then🧡🧡🧡
Cutting that floor would have been so easy with a Festool track saw. The valve that you are talking about is called a back flow preventer valve in Canada
Crap you saved that one. Ed, you and Louie have done an amazing job on the parquet flooring. It looks really good.. Oh, poor Louie must have been the cold shoulder from Ed 😂😂 I could see a professional couple, maybe in here bedroom, spare, or office to work from home, too😊
Bonjour de beau matériaux comme ce parquet en châtaignier ça sublime une pièce bravo 😊😊
That parquet looks wonderful.
Oh, my, Ed! So beautiful! I cannot wait until that door goes up!❤🇨🇦
The floor looks amazing! Very good product and good job installing it!
Wow. what a difference it is making! I am finally beginning to understand what you are doing. Love it!
hmm when I saw the beautiful expanse of floor and those terrific walls my first thought was... a beautiful restaurant!
Edd it was so nice seeing you fighting with the nails on the last couple boards like I do. I would hate to see anyone have an easy time with them. 🤣🇨🇦🇨🇦
Really brightens the room. Good job!
These feel so rewarding, calming ..what a talent to have. Enjoy all your restorations.
That is amazing to see how much space is qvailable now the our is laid! Wonderful!!
You get a better sense of the size of the upstairs, looking good xx
Would LOVE to see a proposed floor plan (blueprint) for each floor (including garden) with measurements.

Floor looks great Edd!
top floor wood looks expertly fitted and the space looks much bigger with the floor down 🤩
On that upstairs corridor that you mentioned between the bath and the bedroom, could you put a half wall where it faces the front door? Allowing the natural light to come through upstairs and not so boxy down stairs when you come in the door. Hope that made sense.
Swing a cat meaning……Very little space, cramped quarters, as in there’s not enough room to swing a cat. This expression, first recorded in 1771, is thought to allude to the cat-o-nine tails, or “Cat,” a whip with nine lashes widely used to punish offenders in the British military, Royal Navy. Hope this helps explain the comment😊

Thank you for the explanation ❤, and for saving Ed from some of the inevitable cat feedback.
Edd, Anna, Louie the Parquet is Beautiful. See you on the next one.
Gorgeous! 🙌😍
I wish I knew as much about construction as this guy
Here in Texas we call that a backflow
How about a sliding wall in between one of the bedrooms and the salon that could be pulled back so it gives the option of a large sitting room and one bedroom? Thinking Japanese... and their use of sliding walls. Yep, think I mentioned two bathrooms; the place will feel much bigger if each bed has its own bathroom. Thanks for the vlog, always a joy!
Dan at Escape to Rural France channel just got all his workshop tools sponsored by Axminster.
Good job with the backflow preventer. No one wants to go fishing for brown trout in their basement.
👉 WOW - - IT'S COMING RIGHT ALONG !!! IT'S BEEN AN AMAZING TRANSFORMATION !!!!! 😁
I live an hour from you and our river is up by two metres, the fields are all flooded and even the park is a lake. Silly when you think that in the summer we cannot water our gardens !
Keeping your space open with a walled off bedroom and bath, would be wonderful. Open beams and lots of light! 🎉❤
Edd the floor looks simply amazing. Great work
Home office/work space is huge for new home building in the USA. We have a 6x8 cubby off the kitchen with a built-in desk top and cupboards for storage. I have seen some that do the desks in a loft space or hallway too.
You are a miracle worker Edd!
salon should be at the front near the entrance door with the bedrooms at the back
The floor is beautiful. I wish the wood for flooring in my area was a thick as what you got. Where I live in the US we call the waste water coming back into the house “sewer surge”. They may have another name for it in other places.
You are making a great job. Well thought out on the ultimate design. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished results.❤️thank you.
Beautiful flooring well done Edd & Louie 👍🤗👍🤗 Anna Amazing filming & editing 🤗👍💐 Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
