A HAND FORGED FLAIL

Ойын-сауық

THE MAKERS MOB - 72 HOURS // 75% OFF: go.themakersmob.com/liam-hoff...
In my latest video, watch as I make a hand forged flail.
From forging the spikes, making the chain, and mounting the hardware, this blacksmithing project was workshop gem.
Why do you need a flail? I have no idea, but it’s freakin awesome!

Ha, I even heard in a documentary on Netflix that a flail has in fact never been used in combat ever. Impractical weapon. A myth apparently? I'll do some more research.

Ah ok, found this in the wikipedia page: Despite being very common in fictional works such as cartoons, films and role-playing games as a "quintessential medieval weapon", historical information about this type of flail is somewhat scarce. A few doubt they existed at all due to the number of pieces sitting in museums that turned out to be forgeries, as well as the unrealistic way they are depicted in art. So yeah, the one handed flail was likely a fictional weapon, but two handed long poles with a chainlink and another heavy short part were indeed deployed in some battles, although not very commonly. Cool

Greg Hotbread they existed but primarily as show pieces from what I understand. Not at all practical for use do to the fact potential injury is much higher than that of a mace because it has chain that could come back and assault the user. But if they were to be used like in a duel having a very short chain like the 2 connecters and a link is a lot more practical. However I’d much rather have a halberd and a short sword due to practicality.

Hey, some years back I bought a $500 Damascus Chef Knife from Autine by John Neeman. I contacted them when the tip snapped off and they told me that their knives aren't hardened to prevent that from happening. Since having the blade reprofiled, I have also gotten nicks in the edge with no knowledge of hitting anything. If I had one of your knives, would the tip snap off and the edge easily nick? I thought knives were supposed to be hardened to prevent this. But I also thought Autine was reputable.

Pay attention everyone...I said pay attention! This here is as close as us in the mortal realm can ever get to communing with a God! This is the dude that first tought the cave men all those years ago. He was out scouring the galaxy for exquisite material and in his quest he stumbled upon this planet with such unknowing creatures and he took it upon himself to bless our race with the gift of helping ourselves and setting us on the path to do great things. He figured he would stick around for a bit and has been here forging ever since. Its nothing to him though, time that is, because he is immortal.

I think a lot of viewers could get useful information from the makers mob setup. A detailed, step by step instructional series on axe making by one of the leading hand crafted axe makers in the world is something that ANYONE who is getting into axe making can appreciate. I just wish makers mob had more content creators in different crafts. Hell, even just another blacksmith cc would be great. Currently it's best for woodworkers unfortunately.
