I own the Lorier Hydra and I absolutely love it! The acrylic MAKES the watch for me. The way light is reflected off of it onto the dial, you can't get it from sapphire at this price. You really can't help but stare at the way the light hits the dial. It is SOOOOOO hard to beat this watch in terms of style and quality at this price point.

I really appreciate you putting a spotlight on watches we would normally never hear about. The acrylic crystal on this watch isn’t an issue at all. Thanks Teddy, great review as always. This exact model has been on my mind for a bit so your comments will not make my wallet too happy! I've owned a series 2 Neptune for about 8 months (with the Seiko movement) and it works a treat, about +4 seconds per day. The acrylic is obviously prone to scratching but the dome really adds something special to the feel of the watch.

The Falcon II really hit it out of the park from the first version in respect to the overall dimensions and choice of movement. I do wish the watch case was a little bigger, maybe around 40 or 41mm. Otherwise, it is a fantastic piece. For me, the bracelet is one of the most comfortable I've ever worn. The pushers to activate and reset the chronoscope function are nice and robust. All in all, this watch is one of my favorites. Highly recommend more people check out this brand! Worth every penny!!

I have a neptune series II and a Gemini, and I'm getting a navy falcon in this upcoming production batch (I was lucky to get an early wait list spot). I have frankly too many microbrand watches from the affordable space lol so I'm fairly experienced in this area and I think Lorier is my favorite, next to Visitor perhaps. The Acrylic is honestly far superior to Sapphire, the warmth and distortion is so much better and scratches can be easily erased with polywatch. If anybody is considering them I'd say it's a no-brainer, go for it. Or just wait a while, their offerings have consistently gotten better over time in precisely the right ways and I'd bet that trend will continue.
@mikec34544 жыл бұрын
I have no issues with acrylic ... agree with you Teddy, it's far warmer and gives some character to the watch. It's quite expensive to do domed sapphire, you have to have realistic expectations at this price point.

They have said again and again that it would cost less for them to have used sapphire crystal. They had to hunt hard to find a manufacturer that could make an acrylic crystal that would meet the water resistance they wanted. acrylic takes any beating you can throw at it and then you just polish it out with some toothpaste, its awesome vs having a big scratch that is impossible to fix like many of my sapphire crystals have.
@Kwantummeekanniks
4 жыл бұрын
That's good to know! But it begs the question: What on earth are you up to with your watches?? I've worn my beater watch constantly for almost 10 years and people still ask me if it's new because there isn't a single scratch on the cristal. I have to then educate them on the fact that the glass is synthetic sapphire which is almost impossible to scratch.
@Kwantummeekanniks

Also, I really like the way the (domed) crystal on my Dan Henry 1962 looks which is something called K1 mineral. Seems tougher than hardlex so far although I have been more careful than with my Seiko 5...
@2791dles4 жыл бұрын
I've modded quite a few of my Hamilton Khakis from original sapphire crystal to acrylic, many have too. Acrylic yes scratches way more easily, but with a little toothpaste and a rag and about 2 minutes effort, it looks new again. Sapphire domes are a nightmare for reflection and legibility in sunlight unless they are very well AR'ed. Sapphire shatters, acrylic doesn't. And acrylic is deaf cheap to replace, and very quick and easy to install. And also, I'd MUCH prefer acrylic over hardlex/mineral crystal. Once hardlex scratches, good luck repairing it. Great review although I think comparing this watch to a dress watch like a SARB033 is an oversight. The Lorier is an adventure/explorer watch and has more in common design wise with an Explorer, BB36, Aqua Terra, or Hamilton Khaki on the more affordable end. As an adventure piece, I would have loved to see how it sat on the wrist on a nato and leather strap. Good review though 👍

I think this is a great budget option for those who can’t or won’t spring for an Explorer or Tudor 36 - this is a great, very old school option at a reasonable price. Huge improvement over the first generation model. I wasn't a big fan of their execution of the two-tone versions in terms of styling and just overall looks, however, this generation of the Falcon looks awesome. I have a Lorier watch and can safely say it’s amazing. I especially love the metal band, the links look better than any other ones I’ve seen, and was a main selling point for me :)
Finally a Lorier review! In terms of scratches, once I rebuffed mine it was good as new.
Jesus Christ Teddy. Just looked at the blue falcon yesterday and wanted to buy it and now you put out a vid. Godspeed
I also like the overall look of the watch, especially that crown which is kind of one of their brand features. I really like a good size crown. Thanks again Teddy for another great review, Brian
I can see myself getting a Lorier watch in the future. I’ve seen interviews with the husband/wife team and also saw them on Instagram Live. I like how focused they are as a brand.
I literally got on the waitlist for the next batch of this exact watch last night! Impeccable timing Teddy.

Did you get the watch? Do you like it? :)
Lorier is an incredible brand, one of the only few doing like they are. I bought their hydra, loved it so much. Highly highly recommend them for entry level .
I've been watching video after video of reviews on Lorier watches for a few months and decided to buy one, ofcourse had to wait for the series 3 Neptune to come along but it was a tough decision between the Neptune and Falcon!! Mine comes today and so excited! Thanks for the honest review Teddy!
Great Video as always! Got my Neptune SIII yesterday and I'm totally in love with the vintage looks and the waterdrop-like acryllic crystal! So glad I gave a microbrand a chance for my first diver.
I bought the Gemini, in the panda face, as a gift to myself for graduating law school and love it. It is truly an amazing watch. I love winding it every morning.
Very thorough review Teddy! ...The watch reminds me of a Black Bay 36!
Great video, I put myself on the ordering list for the Gilt Green as I'm hoping this will act as an everyday watch I can wear for low key outdoor activity like camping, hikes with my young family. I had their Gen 1 Neptune and was very impressed. Had an issue with their thickness which is now addressed with their new movement choice.
Loving these new intros to the video and the watch selections. Keep up the great work Teddy
Excellent video editing, execution, dialog, dude you are killing it, I've even started liking the brand!
I've had a v1 Falcon for over a year now and I absolutely love it! Was a little apprehensive about it having acrylic and not sapphire but I haven't regretted it one bit.

I'm on the waiting list for the new falcon, but i wanted to ask - how scratch resistant is it compared to sapphire? How often does it need polywatch? Thanks
Thirty six mm looks good on your wrist. I have small wrists too . That is one of the reasons I buy vintage Omega. I just purchased a 1944 Omega Bumper, and it looks great on my wrist.
Very sensible discussion on acrylic crystal here that I hadn't considered. Thank you.
Awesome video Teddy! You inspired me to start a watch collection. Thanks!

Honored to help Daniel! Thanks for watching!
Terrific review Teddy! You hit the nail on the head, re individual tastes & or difference. I like Lorier’s range of watches in general! 😍👍🏼😎
acrylic refracts light while sapphire reflects it. i have a neptune gen 2. the distortions are beautiful and really transform the watch. polywatch is your friend as far as scratches go, totally worth it. i am on the waitlist for the 3rd gen. the bracelet is amazing by the way, could use one more micro adjustment, but is extremely comfortable, and has screw in pins which is a plus.
I own four Lorier watches. Big fan! I prefer the styling of the previous version Falcon, but I do like how they have slimmed it down.
I watched this video. Then I watched your BB36 video. I hemmed. I hawed. I bought the BB36 and sweated bullets until it arrived. So glad I went upmarket. $2,400 for a watch seemed crazy at the time, but man is the quality a HUGE step up from Mido, Tissot, etc. I don’t regret it. Thanks for all the amazing reviews, you are a treasure my man.
Hi Teddy appreciate the review. I just received my first Lorier Neptune, their version iii yesterday. Great looking device, like the Falcon you reviewed. I decided to buy from Lorier as they're my local Microbrand and I wanted something a little different too. Keep up the good work

Happy to do it. Have enjoyed the focus on smaller brands as of late, keeps things interesting for me. Thanks for watching and enjoy the new watch!
Great video. I have the Neptune II with tilt dial. Love it. Great construction, one of the better bracelets in my opinion. I’m on the waitlist for the Falcon 2 white dial. Your review has confirmed that this was the right choice.
Love the symmetry; well balanced dial; no day/date is a big plus for me; beautiful tapered lugs; nice and thin; decent movement. If I needed a dressier everyday, this one would be at or near the top of my list.
Gosh your photography just keeps getting better and better
Very happy to see another 36mm beauty hit the market.
Perfect size! Great video as always, Teddy. Stay safe.

Thanks my friend! Same to you!
There's something brilliantly alluring about the texture of the dial on this kind of daily wearer casual watch, that and the bracelet which is notably different from every oyster bracelet out there, really interesting effort
The white dial lowkey reminds me of a golf ball
Awesome job. Slick video as always. Thank you for introducing us to this new (to me) brand. I always appreciate the production and the education. Stay healthy.

Happy to do it Craig! Love what I get to do 🙌🏻 stay safe
Beautiful piece. Thanks, Teddy.
I have no issues with acrylic ... agree with you Teddy, it's far warmer and gives some character to the watch. It's quite expensive to do domed sapphire, you have to have realistic expectations at this price point.
Gotta agree with you about the acrylic. The Speedmaster Hesalite is drastically different in appearance to the Sapphire variant. I'd pick the Hesalite 10/10.

Wow, you picked up on this real quick. The next gen Falcons and Neptunes came out only a short while ago. Also you're the first one to comment on the new line with the miyota movement. Well played, Teddy.

I liked one of their photos on Instagram of this prototype model and they asked if I wanted to get loaned one and I said sure. Have had it with me for the last month. It’s a cool watch 👍🏻
Another great review Teddy. I like the model, specifically the white waffled dial and the integration of the bracelet to the lugs and case. With that said it reminds me how much I want Tudor to release a white dial 36mm Black Bay.
Love the classic look ! Maybe my next watch. As always super review 👍
I have a Neptune II coming to me hopefully in late August. I love the brand, the style and i cant wait until my watch arrives.
Mine’s on order!!! I think you’ve articulated the trade off between sapphire and acrylic very nicely. I own the Seiko Cocktail Time and Junghans Max Bill. The domed look is beautiful on both
Appreciate your review of the series 2 Falcon. Just picked up their series 3 and would love to hear your views on the updates they’ve made to this piece. All the best!
I'm amazed how perfectly it looks on you. It looks natural and in sync on you. 36mm scares me a little. My smallest watch is a 37 and I feel like I'm pushing it even though I have thin wrists.

Get a Hublot and never look back. Just make sure you compensate by wearing a baby in the other hand. A fat one. Alfa male right there!

Also, I really like the way the (domed) crystal on my Dan Henry 1962 looks which is something called K1 mineral. Seems tougher than hardlex so far although I have been more careful than with my Seiko 5...
Good review though 👍
got a first generation hydra from lorier and i love it to bits
I love the design the green/gilt one is very nice
I kinda love the waffle dial
There are more interesting microbrans out there really, but the review was excellent because you explain more of what we are used to see brands. Thanks. Very interested in the Formex essence.
Cool watch, Teddy. I'm waiting on my Falcon with green dial to arrive.
I’ve got a budget of $500 for my 30th and I can’t find exactly what I want from the big, affordable brands, that’s why I’ve turned to micro brands as a possibility. Great review!
I think this is a great budget option for those who can’t or won’t spring for an Explorer or Tudor 36 - this is a great, very old school option at a reasonable price. The SARB and especially the SARX, although beautiful, do not quite scratch that itch. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for, the blue dial version is killer. Thanks for the video.

Nice to see a review of the white falcon which I am waitlisted for. When it arrives it will be my 4th Lorier in the collecion. I really love their design and the thoughtfulness that you see when you hold one your hand. As they say, deapite the vintage cues they are very practical watches.

infinity wars I have a gen 2 neptune, 2 Geminis: a reverse panda and the ww le.
I actually think the small scratches in acrylic add charm to it. Kinda like how bronze patinas. Shows your history with it. And when it gets too cloudy then just polish it out.
Good review Teddy. Not a watch in my future, but a decent looking time keeper.
Love my Neptune 3...super cool watch!
I love the look of this watch and lorier watches in general lol! I like the dome acrylic but what sells me is the bracelet and how the finish plays with the light! I’m fairly new to watch collecting and currently only own a Seiko 5 snk805 and a gshock dw5600. Im currently saving for something from Lorier! Thanks for the review
Huge improvement over the first generation model. I wasn't a big fan of their execution of the two-tone versions in terms of styling and just overall looks, however, this generation of the Falcon looks awesome. I dig the diameter choice as well, always wanted to buy a small watch and wear it with pride even though my wrist is bigger than average (I guess). Having said that, I would probably choose the Seiko SARB over this one for obvious reasons.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Lorier! I have a Hydra and a Gemini. Would love to add that white Falcon, but super hard to get. I wish you would have commented on the fact that plexi is much harder to break than sapphire and that surface scratches can be buffed right out of plexi with polywatch. I truly believer plexi is more durable than sapphire, overall (def not scratches thought).
I dig the design, finishing and size. Only thing I would upgrade is box saphire and clasp - more adjustment spots since there's no half links
Teddy I like your videos! Keep up he good work 👍
I have a new diver style watch with a bubble domed acrylic chrystal. It has a Seagull St1612 automatic movement. It's very accurate and I wear it daily. I have a lot of vintage watches with acrylic chrystals but wear the new one mostly, as it's something I don't need to worry about. I also have a tube of Polywatch standing by to polish out any scratches. I like the look of the Lorier but I only buy vintage watches now.
YES! My Neptune is on the way in blue & white

Nice looks, classic with a modern input, great size for small wrist people like me ✌️
Great video. Nice looking watch. Lighting was a little dark couldn’t see it real well.SEIKO IS KING !!!
Lorier is a great brand. I'm definitely going to buy a Neptune in near future. As for the new Falcon, I really appreciate the new 36mm size but I will miss the series' 1 unique dial.

@@TeddyBaldassarre I really liked the white guilt dial 😅 we have a bit different taste probably 😊 Thanks for the review!
My Neptune Gilt V2 is my daily wearer and I am on the list for the Falcon 2. This fits my aesthetic and love the brand. The owners are amazing as well. The acrylic is the way to go for the look and people’s arguments vs sapphire are moot because this is what they chose. If you prefer sapphire, look elsewhere. It’s either for you, or it’s not. It’s for me!!
Love lorier watches... personal preference though, much prefer the version 1 with the line hr markers instead of the circles. Like the upgraded movement of version 2, so you can't go wrong either way. Nice review 👌
Very classy watch, I love the size and look. The dial is gorgeous in any configuration. I'd like to see a sapphire later down the line but I understand why they would go with it this way. Costs for smaller brands are higher because they are themselves buying in smaller batches. If everyone supports them then I imagine the options will bloom.

I like it when you put the price in the title.
I love acrylic, although I have a Max Bill with domed sapphire :)
Lovely watch.
I don't know about Lorier, but this falcon 2 is an AWESOME watch from a design perspective. And I agree with you, often the people that are new to the watch world will just give too much weight to the sapphire crystal and the "small" case sizes... I think this watch looks amazing, I won't buy one just because I already have a Sarb033 and I would have to choose between the two which one to use :D
I have the V2 Neptune for over a year now. I loved it when I received it and it has become one of my all time favorite watches. The quality is exceptional, dial and case are great and the bracelet is very confortable and well put together. The devil is in the detail and Lorier did a great job. Absolutely worth the price and I will get another Lorier some time for schure!
Teddy!! I love all yours videos! You should do a review on the CW Sandhurst field watch!! I think its a beautiful timepiece with a lot of future potential going right behind it!! Also its COSC certified which is pretty impressive. Cheers!!

Acrylic and some polywatch = no worries!
Looks great👌🏽
It wears a bit bigger than a 36, nice looking watch, the waffle is cool too.
I am so close to pulling the trigger on a very clean used Falcon 2. I just worry 36mm will wear too small as my 37mm Seiko SNKL41 is pushing it already, size-wise...great video as always, Teddy.
Hey Teddy, could you do an update video on your watch collection?
We need a Casio Edifice review ASAP Teddy!
While this watch does look excellent, the moment I loaded the Lorier website and say the Gemini in white, I had to get on the wait list. Thanks for this introduction to the brand! Would love to see you review some of their other offerings.
I am getting the blue dial variant and it should be in hand this week, really looking forward to it. I am a big fan of a 36mm watch and would like to see more watches in this size as I believe it is so right. Thanks again for the great review, Brian.

@@dparis2172 I am using my wives google account so that is why I signed my name at the end.
Having many years of watch wearing behind me, I've learned that any crystal less than sapphire, I will scratch it (no matter how hard I try to avoid it). I can tell a difference between the plexiglass style crystals, but I hate scratches. A nice watch though!
I LOVE vintage-inspired pieces! But I am super uptight about scratches on my crystals, so acrylic is a deal breaker. It would be sweet with vintage-like watches to have the option of sapphire. Then I could buy a Max Bill :)
Hi Teddy, can you let us know if the micro adjustment worked well. It’s a must for me at least to easily adjust - without tools - as I heat up or cool down throughout the day. Would have liked to see that along with vids of the other colours too.
Falcon I: Too big Falcon II: Perfect Watch. Better Version of the Black Bay 36. Falcon III: Love it. Better Version of modern Explorers. Falcon IV: Hopefully the better version of the Omega Railmaster 1957? That will be hard to achieve though :D
