I used to watch your old channel here and there, but I’m really enjoying your new channel! As a mama, wife, & homemaker myself, I love this kind of content as I spend 90% of my day in the kitchen also haha. I absolutely love cooking and baking, and do it almost everyday. For people like us, days in the kitchen are always different, so it’ll never get boring or redundant watching you show us your days in the kitchen. 😊

I Would genuinely love to know how kids are entertained/what they are up to while you spend 90% of your time in the kitchen? When trying to cook from scratch I struggle to find time to also do housework and not feel like I am neglecting my 6yo? Any suggestions appreciated ❤

Yes it’s definitely not easy to juggle both - being in the kitchen, while taking care of the kids. But here are a few of the reasons how I’m able to. We have an open layout, so I’m able to keep an eye on them and keep them busy with some sort of sensory activity while I’m in the kitchen. Timing is also key. I’ll time things during nap time or when they’re out with dad. I also have help! We have someone who comes 2 days a week for a few hours to help with the kids while I get other things done, such as errands, any appointments, and housework/cooking. That’s a HUGE help. But before we had the help, I’d rely on the morning playtime & nap time window. :) Not everyday is productive though and sometimes I don’t get everything done. And sometimes I do get it done, but am left exhausted! So give yourself grace and go easy on yourself too 💕

My understanding is that both her and her husband are at home full time with the kids. But even with that I can't imagine having the energy to cook and bake this much with five kids. If I decide to even bake muffins (I'm on mat leave with my two kids currently) the kitchen is usually a disaster and we can't recover for several days 😂.

When I had to go gluten & dairy free, I discovered some useful hacks when coverting recipes. Coconut oil makes the best shortening (butter) substitute especially in muffins. And, two teaspoons of psyllium husks soaked in a liitle liquid binds the dough, to give a nice stretchy, spongy texture 😊

You did mention times a few times so it seemed like you had about 30 minutes between breakfast clean up being done and starting lunch, then begin dinner prep immediately after lunch. I only ask because I think I myself have an unrealistic idea of what this requires. I want to cook completely from scratch but then only have 1.5 hours probably in an entire day max to do so and often ask myself "well how are these Mommas able to?!" Is it not possible in 1.5 hours a day?

I’ve done a lot of tweaking recipes to include sourdough. My sourdough is fed by weight so I’m able to know how much water and flour is swap-able with it. I’ve found a ratio of up to equal parts flour to freshly fed sourdough by weight produces a not too sour baked good. This looks like if the recipe calls for 600 g flour and 400 g water, then to make it equal parts flour to freshly fed sourdough, I would convert the recipe to 1 part of the flour in it replaced by sourdough and 2 parts to stay fresh flour. So 600 g flour and 400 g water would turn into 400 g sourdough, 400 g flour and 200 g water. You can convert your recipe to use less sourdough but this is the max I’d use. When replacing liquid dairy, I’d aim for replacing the fat content and matching it to its weight of the product. So for 200 g full-fat milk, you’d want to replace it with 200 g of something else and that something else should be a liquid and contain a similar amount of fat. For something like a muffin, it could just be more water plus oil or coconut milk or non-dairy milk plus oil. You’ll could also do purées with some oil like apple sauce, pumpkin purée, dried fruit purée diluted with water.
