I'd like to clarify some stuff real quick, since it seems a decent amount of people have come to incorrect understandings from this video. My level of involvement with the creation of Milton Math Games is nothing except for my voice role. I have not confirmed any story details or theories with the creator, and I am not in any discord server or group related to its development. I don't know the story! All of the analysis in this video is my own! I also planned on making this video a LONG time ago, before I became friends with the series' creator. Hopefully that clears some stuff up!

No idea but it sure made me think of simpler times. Clunky computers setups. Off white plastic for the casing of components and the sound of the rubbery mousewheel on the desk. The clearest voice acting in edutainment stuff I have memories of is Jumpstart games. And those had some serious money behind them. So all in all. Well done on their part!

Personally I don’t think Jamie was murdered. I think he was just playing out in the woods and he had an accident. The human body is simultaneously fragile and durable. Sometimes just a fall in the wrong place can be lethal.

Just had an idea for a more lighthearted series idea. Some person makes/tries to recover a website but is impeded by a demon or other supernatural entity. Instead of just not noticing his videos and website text being changed, they take notice of this and make it their mission to find the entity and make it stop. It goes from both sides trolling the other, to a fist fight between the poster and entity. Absolutely no horror value whatsover, just a flame war between a ghost in the machine and a very irritated user.

I have a theory about where Jamie's body is. I don't know if all the details line up, but it would make sense to me for Jamie to have died in the same car crash that injured Charlotte. If his body was thrown from the car (this crash was severe enough to leave her hospitalized and "lucky to be alive") and landed in the woods, he might not have been visible to first responders. Charlotte doesn't remember him, so she wouldn't be able to tell anyone to go looking for Jamie's body. If Charlotte and Jamie were too young to drive, Jamie wouldn't have told his parents where he was, so they wouldn't know to look for him in proximity to Charlotte.

I'm fairly certain the way Charlotte's brain scan looks is indicative of Schizophrenia, if I remember the images correctly from Undone (animated Amazon show aimed at adults). Alma, the main character's, schizophrenia was triggered by a traumatic brain injury after she hit a light pole. Her late Dad was the first person she saw clear as day, but no one else did.

I love the concept of a lost media aggregation being intertwined with a missing persons case by having someone trapped within the media itself and being unable to properly rest until someone's finally solved it. My theory is that not only was Jamie a part of the crash, but that Charlotte was trying to show him how to drive since she had Just gotten her license. But after the crash, because Charlotte was so grievously injured, it's likely Jamie didn't realize just how badly he was hurt too, but was the first to wake up. He didn't understand what was happening, didn't know Charlotte was hurt so bad, got lost in the woods trying to find help or get a hold of where they were, and then succumbed to his wounds in a remote part of the woods near where they crashed. This theory comes primarily from Jamie's wording implying he was involved in the accident in some way, and the site itself being based around, well, teaching kids. He was at a point where he was learning a lot of things, potentially how to drive.

As much as I want to enjoy this ARG, I can't, at least not as an ARG. It's not an ARG, it's an AR Story. There is no game, there is no mystery. You are not given crumbs to piece together, after only the second video, you already know the most important informations, and for the next infos to come, you aren't given any hint or anything until the information is given, removing the need to establish theory. In addition to that, they made a few mistakes about flash games: having 3D transition (when he walks the hallway) is pretty advanced stuff, not the kind of things you find in unassuming games. For games of this quality, you would generally get no transition between screens Same for the good quality voicelines. Flash games often had poor quality voice or no voice at all, recording voices at the time wasn't that easy. There were professional voice recorders in the scene, but they were generally focused on flash animations. Games generally either didn't use voice, use stock voices or voices from the creators using whatever mic was on their computer/headphones (generally so bad in tone and quality that it's funny). The only exception was if the game absolutely needed voices, but it isn't the case in this ARG. Whatever the teachers say could be written. Especially since it was a quizz. Either the quizzes only contained a few questions (thus barely replayable) or you needed to record voices for all questions. In opposite to Lacey's games or ChezzKidsgames, it doesn't feel like a flash game that could have existed. For example: why is there a need for server? The game seemed to have no online functionality, so the flash game should be part of the page and load just fine. The ARGs of flash games work because they tell that the sites where the games were hosted went down, not that only the games refused to load; because flash games were inserted directly into the page (making it possible to easily download the game, reason why so many flash sites stole flash games from others sites). Except for the multiplayer flash games (mostly MMO), once the game loaded, you could cut out internet and it would work just fine. I really want to enjoy it, I like the characters design and the synopsis, but it's just slightly interesting , nothing more, IMO.

Its a really cool series, the character designs are very pretty and i can really see how much fun the creators had making it! Sadly it feels like all the other ARG out there. > Kid-realted media that seems innocent, accompanied by cute characters. > Oh no! It's not innocent! > Loud noises, glitches and distorted images. > Dead kid appears. I get it, its not easy to make a story; but some things can't make me get immersed on it enough (like the constant repeated jokes, or the references to other media) when i try to ignore the repeated themes. Overall, i wish the creators the best and hope they improve in their future projects :)

ARGs that are entirely done through online means I can understand, especially those that are considered to be “mainstream” or are trying to gain popularity. It’s statistically harder to make an analog series or an ARG styled series without some sort of character or mascot unless they are previously well known. Something like Cicada for example doesn’t necessarily have a mascot, while the ARGs for something like Bioshock or Gravity Falls are technically centered around a specific person. It’s about reach and affordability, really. There are a TON of ARGs that are offline-centered that don’t follow this “mascot” trend, it’s just about knowing where to look. If you’re speaking of analog series on the other hand, I entirely agree.

I've barely gotten through a fourth of the video (I do not intend to finish it bc tbh im not interested at all), and honestly? MMGA seems not very good. As some one else has pointed out in the comments, the references and memes are extremely out of place, the story and concepts are nothing really new, and it feels like everything was a bit of an after thought. The references are egregious to me, how am I supposed to take this story and arg seriously when there seems to be like 20 different and obvious easter eggs/references to media (media not relevant to or present in the 2000s-2010s) per episode? I can't say I've ever experienced an early 2000's flash game website, but I played a lot of flash games throughout the 2010s. I say that to mention how MMG is most definitely to me not a website with edutainment themed flash games. It feels more reminiscent of an edutainment /software/, like iStation. Another thing is how much it feels like a series that's more interested in giving people nostalgia than an interesting, new, and researched story. This one is just my hot take but making the fake series game site into an actual website is pretty bad to me. I thought MMGA's lore was that MMG is a lost website, with the channels in-universe creator, trying to archive pictures and videos of it so that it won't be lost forever, and presenting the story to us that way. I feel like us, the audience, should be engaging with this story through the information only the videos provide (there's definitely exceptions, I'm just saying mainly through the videos). This feels like a story made a middle schooler. What I mean by that, is that a) it is unoriginal, simply a mishmash of overdone and popular tropes, b) lacking any kind of fore thought and adding everything that comes to mind, and c) amateur. As a former middle schooler and bad writer, I understand these things and know that you have to start somewhere even if it's bad. It's how art and their artists grow and evolve over time. Improving stories and abilities through practice and putting things out there. I hope the creator(s) continue what they do, sincerely. I also hope they get lots of /constructive/ criticism that help them improve their craft.

I feel like this story could benefit from more subtlety. The first episode came out swinging, which is fine for most genres, but it removes the slow-burn aspect of digital horror that is such a strong point in similar works. I am not saying that Milton Math Games should have been more in line with other ARGs, but there is a reason why I and many others associate that slow buildup with great horror. The art and nostalgia is on point and I would say that this series excels in those categories especially, but it just isn't enough to counteract the fact that I keep getting fed too much exposition. If the author of the series makes anything in the future, and I hope they do, I hope they will utilize their artistic skill and technological knowhow to make something a little more suspense building.

right? like... i'm sorry, but when op said, "this might be the coolest sequence i've ever seen in an online horror series," i couldn't help but think, "are you saying that because your friend made it, or have you just not seen a lot of unfiction?" because every facet of this project feels incredibly derivative and half-baked, at least to me. the corny, overdone premise of, "help me! i'm a dead kid stuck in a nostalgic kids' edutainment website with a ~dark twist~!" just doesn't do it for me anymore and the terrible pacing, lack of believability that this could be an actual game, and the way the videos practically beat you over the head with constant s.o.s. messages and spooooky audio and visual glitches only compounds that. i'm not trying to be mean, but none of the ideas presented here are new and they're also not executed in a particularly unique or clever way, so it just sorta feels like someone's rough draft attempt at replicating lacey's games, chezzkids, or teeny toys without fully understanding what made those series work.

Oh my GOD that art was my childhood. I had no idea all of that art was made by one guy, nor did I know his name! Thank you for sharing.

@@pazzieanneknexx809 you’re welcome! but as far as i can tell, carson dellosa is a company and not one guy!

God it seems so familiar but I’m not 100% sure, 2000s UK had Twinkl stuff but I feel like we might have had Dellosa certificates/awards or Well Done stickers, fascinating! Didn’t realise there was a name/company to the style! Just always referred to it as “generic school illustrations” 😂

3:11 I just find myself sighing or feeling thoroughly let down by new digital horror projects I come across, it's already really stale to have the first impression of an 'online browser game/site archive project' be 2 normal minigame segments and then suddenly an OooOOOoOO spOOOOooOoOokY aUUdiIIIooooOoO with chopped up audio that sounds like the microphone of the character gave out with some equally choppy visual that's trying extremely hard to be ominous and scary. In in reality, for me, it just feels so samey and immediately uninteresting. The moment I heard "3 math questions" it was extremely apparent that there would be some weird glitch on the 3rd because there /always/ is. Maybe it's just me being grumpy, but that formula is why I hardly remember Chezzkids Archive, and why it's going to be hard for me to stay engaged with MMG. I'm gonna keep watching and trying to get invested in this obviously, but I wish creators would experiment with the format of digital horror more, or at least branch out a bit with how sinister things are exposed to us. I'm probably just nitpicky at this point and I'm sorry if I was rude with this comment.

I do really like the subtle Wii Channel scare though, but not the weird camera glitches

Why don't you try analysing more obscure digital horror projects? Try Nebula & Quasar for example!

I unironically really love Milton's design. It's very well done

43:55 those arts to me seem similar to the "wordarts" that were in the Microsoft Word in the late 90s-early 2000s. I remember there was a lot of them in the program and i was "playing" with them by ungrouping them and messing around with different details.
